usually people don't talk to the guards because they are not supposed to respond. but some people in the video *are* asking the horse, by approaching carefully and letting the horse smell them before they pat it.
I'm Irish. The Royal Guard of the King/Queen of England mostly mounts the Irish Draught Horse, Black in colour, except for the Bugleers, whose mounts are of a Gray colour. The Irish Draught Horse was the mainstay of farming in Ireland up to the 1960s. The breed also bolstered the breeding of the Irish Hunt Horse and even that of the Race Horse. I have never seen an English Shire Horse but I suspect that it is a magnificent Creature to behold, being the largest of all Equines.

Good on you Royal Guard! The pressures of patiently dealing with tourists while on duty, you still made sure to give this young man an experience that was special to him, in a way no one else would know. And amazing how the horses know when someone is special as well. You can see the horses demeanour noticeably becoming more gentle to them.
@scraverX Maybe they didn't know. Please don't been so hard on them. They are children. They are going thru enough in this world. I mean this in a nice way.
I hope everyone saw just how incredible the Royal Guard was with the young man with special needs. You might not have seen or realized it, but the young man did for sure. The Guard, not being able to chat, he still spoke to him through the horse. He could tell the young man wanted to see the bit in the horses mouth, so he rose the horses head and watched as he described it to others. The Guard saw how respectful the man was and truly waited for permission to pet the horse. The Guard moved him closer to the man, and they shared a look. The best part was the goodbye. When the young man said goodbye, the Royal Guard used the reigns to have the horse wave with his head.... but here's the sweetest moment! When the Guard saw the excitement it gave and how happy that made the young man as he showed others what the horse did...a man sworn to be professional, stoic, tough... he smiled at the impact it made ❤

I grew up around horses. Working on a ranch, and riding in parades. That is one well trained horse and rider. And horses know when some one is different. I used to have special needs kids come up to me when I was waiting my turn to head down the parade route. My old horse was very gentle, bit to curious for his own good. I miss him to this day.
Thank you for sharing this moment! Thank you to the guard and for your kind heart toward the young man - you recognized his uniqueness and responded in such a compassionate way! He was genuinely discouraged by your lack of “conversation” with him, however, you found such a kind way to communicate with him and did you see his smile when you did?!? He also noticed the horse’s bit and was explaining that to the woman (his mom?) with him…very smart young man! What a bright spot in my day - thanks to all of you! 💞
I love how he noticed everything! I am extremely disgusted with the selfish and very rude people who refused to give this young man an opportunity to have his own special time with the Guard and his horse! I hope this is a special memory for him! ❤
The Guard saw the connection the boy and the horse made right off the bat. Made the day extra special for the young man by bringing the horse forward. You can see the guard enjoyed the inter action also by the little smile on his face. Well done Sir !!
It's the little things we do in life for others that are treasures. The young man's delight at the horse's behavior was awesome. The guard made that possible. A treasure. ❤
Both guards showed compassion. The first guard moved his horse to the girl in the stroller. The second guard moved his horse to the special needs teen. ❤️
This is such an intuitive guard and horse. What a smart horse and so endearing that the horse felt that there was something very special about this young man. He seemed to pay extra attention to him.
I seen him pull head away from hands. I think it means back off or a chomp is next. Why even take a chance with infants and toddlers? Just for a pic? Oh my God
I love how well they know their horses and how they connect with the slightest movement, that horse knew exactly what was expected of him and the Guard could read his horse perfectly.
Yes a wonderful moment for the young man, I think the guard was waiting until the kids who were relentless on the horse moved on, then came out to make that young man's day, you could see him pleading and then beaming when the horse was right in front of him to touch. Ty to the Guard for his heart warming gift, and ty to the horse for being so calm despite having just had his face rubbed off. Love shines in many forms and this was one of them. Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘💖💖💖💖

To all the kings guards thank you for your service 🇬🇧👍👍👍👍
That young man had more manners and respect than anybody else I’ve seen. Such a special moment and the guard was just brilliant. Well done ❤
Melts your heart. The soldier and his horse truly will be in his memory long after the occasion just lovely
This guard has stolen my heart. Wonderful!
I am heartened by so many people, and children treating the horses with the love and respect they deserve
The horse knew the young man deserved a bit of individual attention.
The Guard saw the connection the boy and the horse made right off the bat. Made the day extra special for the young man by bringing the horse forward. You can see the guard enjoyed the inter action also by the little smile on his face. Well done Sir !!
This was so sweet, literally makes me teary eyed lol. All four of them, the mom (presumably), the young man, the guard and the horse ❤️ Very sweet
Same. I loved it when he pulled hid black t shirt and pointed to the horse being the same colour with such excitement. Lovely Guards, too.
I am also impressed with the gentle spirit of the horse.
It's the little things we do in life for others that are treasures. The young man's delight at the horse's behavior was awesome. The guard made that possible. A treasure. ❤
I do admire from the bottom of my heart the patience and the deep commitment of the Royal guards. All my respect and love for these young men👍🏻👏🏻🎀💯
Such a nice guard bless your heart!
So much respect for this guard.
Oh my God
Great to see the guard on the right back again, not seen him for ages!!
I love seeing these guards they're handsome, lots of discipline ❤❤❤❤some of them are a bit strict but that's their JOB🎉
Both of the guards showed kindness towards children and special needs...Bravo👏🏻 👊🏻
Dear Kings Guard. You touched my soul with your kindness and generosity. God bless you. I think I even saw you smile a bit! And what a lovely horse. Thank you. Thank you both.
A beautiful moment for the young man. Thank you the King's Guard and his horse. God bless them.
Beautiful scene. I am happy for him.
Some of these guards are so sweet when treated nicely. ❤️
