Great Information, I am a Rn, and don't subscribe to health insurance, but to a health share model. I advocate for a lot of my patients at the hospital that have no health insurance due to cost. I have reached out to many clinics to post their cash prices so that patients have an idea of the cost to see a provider and not always end up in the ER. Here in Texas, I have found that once a patient is established, initial vist around $125 for exam minus lab fees, they can see a NP, PA, or MD follow up for anywhere $75-$100. Once a relationship is established there are many labs (online/in person) that offer inexpensive lab draws, also exray/MRI cash discounts. This is my favorite part of being a nurse is helping those manage their dollars with their health. Thanks for your channel
@drjeremylondon Hi ! I hope you see my comment. I am a fontan patient. I was born with double inlet left ventricle, VSD, pulmonary stenosis, transposition of the great arteries and interrupted aortic arch. I've just had an abaltion after having atrial flutter with a ventricular rate of 260BPM. I'm doing really well at the moment. Have you ever seen a person with this anatomy before?
Thanks for your inside knowledge of the way medicine operates in the maze that we all face especially as we get older and truly need guidance. I’m almost 70 now and am retired now and finally researching RUclips for this type of videos. I always wondered whom affluent people see doctors(VIP”). Thank you very much for your short video on how to find a doctor. We all need these tips. Interesting view about pa and np utilization. I always wonder if every np reviews their cases daily with a PhD or only when they are unsure. That is my only worry. Doctors in the past decade seem to be like a new car purchase. The sales person goes back to the wizard of oz to get the best final price and you actually never see the mysterious oz. Just saying what we all “feel” like. This video helps me from being so follow the way they guide us through this to me to ask for a 10 minute visit at least once as a new patient. Then they would feel more confident on what the NP or PA does. I’m a retired mechanic and who repairs your car at the dealership could be a seasoned technician or his first year guy our gal. That NP is prescribing some powerful meds to us and I’m too polite to not insult them questioning their choices. Thank you again.
Dr. London, you're quickly becoming one of my favorite YT creator. Your information is great and you seem like such a regular guy...very easy to relate to as a patient. Keep up the great work.
Wow Randy thank you so much for the comment. I’m still getting the hang of making longer videos for RUclips and to hear that the video is resonating with you is awesome! Thanks for the support 👍🏻
This is one of the most important decisions you will ever make in life. I have been in healthcare 20 years and people do not have a CLUE! I would rather budget and get the proper care that I need to remain healthy. Dr London you are awesome!!
I agree with you 100% My doctor from Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago recently retired. Now I have a doctor in the basement of an apartment building, that was recommended by a friend. He’s a very nice doctor, don’t get me wrong. But when it comes to modern times, he can’t handle it. There are many times I ask him. Are you going to take my blood pressure today? Check my heart. Thank God for my cardiologist at Loyola Medical Center she handles all my medication. Choose your Doctor wisely. I can’t thank you enough for all the information you give us out there. Do you realize how many people you are helping by just doing these videos thank you you truly are a god sent.
You aren't alone. It's very important to take the process seriously or you can end up with the wrong fit. Thank you so much for the kind words and all the support. More videos to come!
No kidding this is important. I'd be very careful about choosing and listening to a GP. Saw several significant injuries to family members as a result of negligent or incompetent GP's. The latest was this year when my GP said of my symptoms "don't worry- it's probably just allergies". Three weeks later I was having open heart surgery; triple bypass, valve repair, a-fib, and repair to an atrium. So, ya , choose wisely and never, ever, leave your health completely in the hands of a GP. Do your research and make informed decisions.
We need far more doctors like you, Dr! Will have to look you up as I have had enough of doctors just pushing medication and being upset if I ask questions. It’s rushed as well.
Thank you Dr. London for providing this information concerning choosing a primary care physician giving us transparency while learning how to discern the individual doctors practice either Functional Medicine or Allopathic Western Medicine 😀 to meet the needs of the patients. Very encouraging information. I would like to see a blend of these two medical models.
i had elevated blood pressure and watched functional doctors on youtube and learned that the most common reason for high blood pressure is too many carbs (especially junk food, sugars, flours, pasta, bread, rice, etc) and eating too often. Intermittent fasting with staying hydrated and low carb diet brought my blood pressure down in 7-10 days. No bp medication needed. have to say this : not all high bp is a result from insulin resistance (look that up on yourtube if needed).
Hello dr, I’m 20 years old. I don’t really know anything about medicine but I’m going for my Cna in July and then gonna try for lpn. I have a problem with boredom though. Nothing is enjoyable anymore, But i found your channel and listening to you wasn’t boring at all. Im glad your still with us. Please keep making videos, this channel is going to keep growing.
Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed the content. Follow your curiosity and challenge yourself often. You will be surprised where it will take you. I wish you only the best!
Thank you so much for taking your time and helping people. I'm young hopefully not at risk of heart problems, but I stopped smoking recently and has been soo hard. Thank you again from UK
Your exactly right i don't take it lightly that i do have a great primary care doctor he has saved my life at least twice i appreciate him so much a former chief of staff at the second largest hospital in Michigan he has earned his strips big time and it shows he does not come in the room laughing and joking i can always tell he took the time to review at test and referred to my chart long before he says hello in the exam room .More importantly I always let him and his staff know I know they go the exstra mile and it is a great working relationship in my heath care service .
Dear Dr London, Fantastic! Advice. I like to thank you, for your expert sound advice. I have been in the medical field (X-ray Technologist) for the last 37 yrs. This is the best advice, I have ever heard. God Bless.
Ironically, my PCP is retiring in December of this year. He has been my physician for 25 yrs. He was my mom's dr. As well. I am "not looking" forward to replacing him. To be quite honest (aside from him) I don't like the attitude of most doctors! 🎉
my cardiologist.takes care of 3 people at a time, its like a pit stop.he is a fast talker and very rude. you can hear him in the room next to your, being very rude. I'm only going every 18 months, he told me after I lost 10lbs, from 190 to 180, he said you could lose another 20lbs, I was shocked, even from him, I'm a 5 day a week gym rat and at 160lbs, I would be a rail, he says yea you like being a bigger guy. I'm a quiet person, so I'm not working him up.
My new doctor is old school and he doesn’t use computers everything is paper also he doesn’t go to the hospital if you go there. Unbelievable. Insurance companies choose these kind of doctors for seniors.
I have moved on from doctors and even declined several tests including a biopsy because of the doctor’s nurse or staffing, never the doctor being the reason thus far. I would much prefer to have ’life long’’ doctors, however the staffing can become a problem, and the doctors may not have been told, for fear of retaliation (they have all pt personal info.)so patients(friends)I know that left their doctor did not tell the doctor why, because of that concern.
I had to get extra work (mowing lawns) to afford to see a functional doctor. Maybe that’s an option for you to find a service that people want (eg. handyman/woman, yard work, hauling away, baby sitting, yard waste or large items, cleaning, etc.)
Very interesting information. I am 74 and have had my internist for 34 years. He will be retiring in 2 years, and I am not comfortable seeing an extender because a lot of my past trauma is very painful. For me, it is not the best care because I will either not go or I won't give out important information. I view healthcare as a very private matter, so sharing my private feelings with multiple people is not an option. For some people, it is just a matter of trust, and at my age, I am not willing to start over with a new model. For you, your extender helps you to do more than without her. For the patient, me, after seeing and trusting one doctor for 34 years, I will not do well in that situation. I don't like the way medicine is going, and I am a retired podiatrist.
I go to an oncologist that doesn’t see patients in the hospital. I had a cardiologist that did the same damn thing. HATE IT. Screw those extenders, especially Nurse Practitioners that have extremely flaky educations. Too many of them think they are physicians or even better than physicians. They’re just another barrier. Interview???😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅Nonsense, we’re waiting 5, 8, 14 months for a new patient visit.
My then new primary care dr's answer to me after telling her that my now chronic pain began after I fell and fractured my pelvis plus had a whiplash effect concussion her reply was I don't need to know WHY I only need to find out HOW to treat/ stop the pain. It didn't make sense then and it still doesn't 😠
Great question! A while back I made a video on patients getting a second opinion. I'm all in favor of having a second opinion when it comes to surgery. I will always try to give the best answer based on the context of the question but I believe asking questions is crucial. Makes the patient more comfortable and opens up the dialogue for the best outcome. Thank you for your comment!
Doc, ur appreciated on YT, ru familiar with Dr MALo on YT, cardiologist, personal trainer, he's awesome. U two should do a collab. He's actually messaged a couple ideas to discuss with my cardiologist.
Yes to functional medicine 🙌 always appreciate You doc! Btw, have you heard of Dr. Mark Hyman? The guru of Functional medicine 😊 it's funny bc when I started following you, I was thinking if you're one of those docs that practices Functional medicine!
I've never had a Nurse Practician or a Physician's Assistant ever represent themselves as anything other than what they are. Most wear tags or at least introduce themselves. I have seen patients who just assume person seeing them is a doctor and may say or call them doctor because they've not paid attention or just aren't aware that the title is not correct. Perhaps some NP's or PA's just don't bother correcting patients that do this to perhaps avoid embarrassing the patient.
Eat healthy food. Do yoga. Change eating habits. Spend one hour daily on your body . Medicine or surgery is not solution. We human beings are changing our living standards. Too much radiation dust pollutants. Smoke. Chemical intakes. Half problem will be solved by yoga

you are an amazing person and true nurse who actually does something to help fix problems.

have to look you up as I have had enough of doctors just pushing medication and being upset if I ask questions. It’s rushed as well.
Thank you so much for this in-depth information. At almost 67 I need to really evaluate the care I’m receiving and what direction to take.

Very helpful video for someone not in a healthcare industry, but needs to know and work with healthcare professionals.
Love to hear that!
Thank you Doctor for your time , advice , your care and concern for the health of patients everywhere. Thank you . God Bless you.

Great info. If only we could choose a functional-medicine doctor instead of the corporate pill pushers available in many areas.
Thank you so much for taking your time and helping people. I'm young hopefully not at risk of heart problems, but I stopped smoking recently and has been soo hard. Thank you again from UK
I believe you. Not easy by any means. Keep it up, one day at a time.
Great insight into finding a PCP, much appreciated Dr. London!
Thank you for taking the time to go over this information!

Good morning from Greece!
Thank you for your information that you give throw all your videos!
Hello over in Greece! You are very welcome!
My new doctor is old school and he doesn’t use computers everything is paper also he doesn’t go to the hospital if you go there. Unbelievable. Insurance companies choose these kind of doctors for seniors.
My neighbour just now passed away in his driveway--EMS was doing CPR for maybe 30 mins? So sad. He was in his 60's still working.
I have moved on from doctors and even declined several tests including a biopsy
because of the doctor’s nurse or staffing, never the doctor being the reason thus far. I would much

Functional medicine not covered under my insurance and we are bombarded by chemicals
I had to get extra work (mowing lawns) to afford to see a functional doctor. Maybe that’s an option for you to find a service that people want (eg. handyman/woman, yard work, hauling away, baby sitting, yard waste or large items, cleaning, etc.)

Thank you for your insight!❤❤❤ Universal healthcare for all!❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for explaining so well about nurse practitioner.
Absolutely! So awesome to hear you enjoyed it
Such great information! Thank you Dr. London!
But try to find one.
Never found a good doctor my whole life and I am 71 . They are so busy they have no time for you
please make short videos about heart attack risks from taking
tylenol
ib profen
etc
I love your videos--Thank you.❤
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch them!

Nooooooooo such LUXURY in Canada dear doc
glad we still have choices in usa. I feel for you in Canada.
I need this.
Glad to hear it! Hopefully it was helpful and tactical for you
Very helpful, thank you.
Thank you so much for the comment 🙌🏻
Great video, thanks.
You're welcome! Thank you for the comment and the support... more content to come.
When should an Autopsy be done. Is it the same as a post mortem Autopsy?
Dr London how do you react to a paient who poses questions are you receptive or feel your in a position of authority that shouldn't be questioned

So FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE is the golden solution?
Dam true.
amen
Is heart failure dangerous, can it kill you, how to deal with it?
I need your help
Another good topic from you 🎉
Doc, ur appreciated on YT, ru familiar with Dr MALo on YT, cardiologist, personal trainer, he's awesome. U two should do a collab. He's actually messaged a couple ideas to discuss with my cardiologist.

Ww nees a law: A nurse practitioner must wear identification stating they are not a doctor and they do not let patients call them doctor.
I've never had a Nurse Practician or a Physician's Assistant ever represent themselves as anything other than what they are. Most wear tags or at least introduce themselves. 🏥 I always pick the doctor who listens and good looking too☺️
you should have looked into being an osteopath!
Hey Doctor, First and foremost we are simply Humans and not super beings.
You are right!
