Jump squad-auto you're right that its a TT 5.5L but thats not going to be the ZR-1's power unit. IMO GM is building the Zora alongside the ZR-1 and pulling the wool over everyones eyes by doing so. I'm of the belief that the ZR-1 will have the LT-6 but will also have the hybrid system from the E-Ray out of necessity due to traction limitations. The Z06 already has a tough time getting its 670+ hp to the ground and adding another 200 or so horsepower to it would make it even harder to get traction. But adding 160 hp to the car via a hybrid system on the front axle will quickly rectify that issue and make it a bullet of the line launching the car. The twin turbos will be on the ZORA along with the front axle hybrid system giving that the 1000 horsepower that the engineers are targeting for the pinnacle of CORVETTES !!! Zora Arkus Duntov was adamant back in the early years of production that the Corvette needed to be a mid-engine car. He argued that back in the late 60's and early 70's when he became the chief engineer on the Corvette. With that being said its all just a educated guess at this point till Chevy finally reveals its plans for the ZR-1 and ZORA . But my God what a great time to be a car enthusiasts especially a American car enthusiasts !! Because we've finally shut the Europeans up and knocked them off their pedestal of feeling superior to us as far as building a better sportscar ! All thats left to do to make the C8 the best driver's car is BRING BACK a MANUAL TRANSMISSION and make it complete ,and a completely perfect visceral mindblowing experience !! Its already the best bang for the buck as far as performance cars go. Only thing missing to make it perfect and totally driver focused is putting a third pedal back in the footwell and install a shifter lever so a real driver can bang some serious gears not pull some paddles !! That just may improve the one and only thing about a C8 thats gotten mixed reviews and thats the look of its center console ! Yes I know a dual clutch auto is quicker overall. But its not the same thing as a manual trans ,and the artistic dance of heal toe shifting, or the ability to clutch kick and induce some oversteer in a corner. Also the need to do the quintessential 🇺🇸 burnouts that having a clutch can provide. Yes a auto will burn its tires but having to hold the brakes down to get them spinning isn't the same as releasing that clutch pedal, feeling them break loose hearing that screech of the tires, seeing & smelling all that smoke too !! Nothing compares to that or is more American than a C🎉orvette lighting its tires up !! ❤ 🇺🇸 & 🏎___________💨 and kill those tires !!! P.S. I just have to add . Hopefully Andretti gets into F1 for 2025 or 26 but I dont understand why they (GM) went Cadillac instead of using the Corvette name/branding to partner with Andretti in their bid to enter F1. The Alpine rebranding power unit deal fell through fortunately!! I think theyll team up with Honda to rebrand their I.C.E. and build a better P.U. then Renault was gonna offer them anyways. 🤔IMO it makes more sense seeing how GM and Honda are gonna be building EV's together starting in 2027 too ! Just my opinion!! Go MAXattack Verstappen 🏆🏆🏆3× WDC and RedBull back2back WCC in 2023 !!!!!!!!!!

To get low end tq the turbo AR ratio has to be such that the low boost threshold is lower in the rpm range. This will significantly help the 5.5 FPC in the low end tq department where it lacks. For top end power the AR ratio must be such that the low boost threshold is much higher in the rpm range. The C8Z doesn’t suffer from a lack of HP up top, it suffers from a the higher gear ratio. This can be seen easily with videos of C7Z vs C8Z roll racing where the C7Z maintains a lead ahead of the C8Z. Then there is the fueling requirements required for more hp. There is only so much hp that can be achieved with 91-93 octane gas. Most likely the C8 ZR1 will not have a lot more hp than the current C8Z06, perhaps 20-30 more up top. But more mid range tq. Where it is needed.

5 shows up a lot in general motors engine sizes and performance numbers. 5.3 liter makes 355 hp . 6.2 liter makes 455 hp in the Camaro. Supercharged 7.0 liter makes 755 hp in the C7 ZR1. 5.5 liter now will be twin turbocharged and make 850 ?

To cancel engine vibrations at very high revs in competition and on the track, we use Polyurethane silent blocks on the engine/transmission assembly, the chassis and on the exhaust. These are more rigid and resistant, we check their wear every 50,000 miles or in the event of suspicious vibration.Anti-vibration balance shaft connected to the crankshaft, this is common in powerful flat plane cranckshaft V8 turbo engines with very high RPMs.Lower compression ratio 8.8:1 because turbochargers .
So the Zora could be the 5.5 FPC twin turbo plus EV Front wheel drive. This makes sense given the driving experience with the Front Wheel Drive. Then I want to ask about my older Corvettes, where a pair of Front Wheel Hub Motors could be retrofitted from 50 to 150 HP EACH and could offer AWD & True Hybrid function with additional battery packs and enhanced MPG with EV Assist to the Gas Engine. Europe is doing this this now with government incentives and addressing delivery trucks and sports cars successfully. Blue Dot and Protean are in the US working of retrofit kits but not for Corvettes. We need Callaway, and a Dealer like Nicky Chevrolet to step up and make the first few to kick start. Then ALL Corvette owners could celebrate AWD HYBRID and 0-60 under 3 seconds for a lot less than $150K. Dennis
I expect the ZR1 and Zora to be CPC turbocharged engines. Don't think they would bother to develop a smaller displacement turboed FPC engine related to the LT6.
What? It is not a "Twin Turbo" engine. What do you think "SC Turbo" means? It means supercharged turbo. RUclipsrs think Turbos mean something on the exhaust, but the industy uses "turbo" to describe both superchargers and exhaust turbo cars. LOL. Notice that the part is a plastic air INLET? Does a turbocharger have a plastic inlet? No, it is attached to the metal exhaust. Think it through and its obvious it isn't "twin turbos".
I generally come to you for a lot of information!!! The various sources all seem to be having a lot of information and misinformation on this subject. Very confusing just who is right and who is wrong… I do think a lot as far as the move towards twin turbos….. and supercharging. If that’s possible to do it, but what will they do?? Just what will GM Do?.? They have to perform a lot better than the ZO6? And, be dependable!!! Who wants an engine they can’t beat the cars they are completing against, even their own!!! So given that, what could be; GM is going back to the C7 2019 ZR1 and using that engine as their 755 base horsepower engine with 715 for torque (A GM Monster in 2019) then adding some electric power from the new ERAY with ADDING 160 horsepower and torque of 125 pounds 🎉 A ERAY Monster that Accelerates From 0 to 60 faster than the = ZO6 Both Monsters!) That gives it 915 horsepower in total as well as torque of 840 pounds!!! AND: Without going to any product outside their own house!!! That are even Dependable: Used in 2 GM HEAVYWEIGHTS!!! ZR1s & ERAYs!!! THAT’S POWER TO THE MAX!!! That’s pretty hefty in my book! Maybe add the 4 wheel drive to the “New ZR1 and it’s a monster!!! A REAL TRUE MONSTER!!!!! 😊 A 2024 or 2025 ZR1 With 940 Horsepower 840 Torque & 4 Wheel Drive!!! What do you think? Can GM add Electric Motors to a high horsepower car 😅😂😂? 😊😊😊? ❤❤❤!!! (According to Wikipedia is “It’s possible, it’s possible). You’re too young, look it up on Wiki! Lol I repeat that: It’s Possible, It’s Possible lol Yes, I bet GM could do it, they could put an Electric Motor into a vehicle if they tried hard enough!!!
I think GM can pull any of the options in front of them off. Especially since other manufacturers have TT a FPC and a CPC and made hybrid turbo v8s already. There will be no regrets regardless of what they do.
The "AFM" is a head scratcher for a ZR1, but it could definitely be a nice feature if it can be done reliably with longevity, which they've yet to achieve.
Speculative but wondering if its like the Huracan STO where the aero is adjustable but manually. The cladded test car looked like it had adjustability on the wing bracket but manual lock points. Just my guess tho
This may end up being the best corvette model of them all. TT to be able to easily increase HP, great styling, great power for years until you get used to it while the warranty runs out and then increase the boost some to get that joy back.
Its not gonna be the 5.5. Its gonna be a built 6.2 or even better they bring back the 7.0 liter. No way its 5.5, not turbo charged. Pmus from the videos it sounds much deeper
Yes and no. Most of the time the engine is different like with the C5 and C6 Zo6's (C5 Zo6's LS6 and C6 Zo6's LS7) The C7 Zo6 was basically the LT1 with a supercharger and a few other tweaks making it the LT4 The original Zo6 from 1963 was a fuel injected 327ci small block. It was primarily a handling package on the C2 Corvette. Only 199 were made then.
5.5l with a flat plane crank and twin turbos makes sense to me. The flat plane crank loves to rev and with turbos, the more you rev, the more power you make. I'm not familiar with the pulse problem you speak of, but I would think that problem could be easily overcome. TBS, I've never worked with twin turbos, and it's been a very long time since I've worked on engines at all. But I'm a fan of FP cranks.
During an interview session with Tadge, he alluded to no AFM in the Z06 due to a vibration issue in reduced cylinder mode. Maybe they come up with a solution for it. Other companies have twin turbo-ed a flat plane crank. Could go Cross plane crank and not have to deal with it if they add AFM. Lots of ways for that aspect to play out but at least now we know its not a 6.2L
He says misinformation about what the motor and then he turns around and said with the motor is most likely going to be. Lmao. Confirmation unconfirmed
Looks like the twin turbo version of the Z06 engine is not a myth anymore. That being said, I work for GM and have access to the Snap-on parts catalog that most if not all GM Dealerships use. In order for a blue highlighted engine option that is shown in the above screenshot of an engine part, the only way that is possible the screenshot "has to have" a VIN# associated with it. I really hope this is true but, can't help to think it's suspicious being it's not in production yet but has a vi#??
Test fleet cars get destroy designation vins from what I understand. They need vins to be able to drive on streets even as test vehicles. We have seen ZR1 test cars on the street so I think that matches with what you say is needed to be in the parts catalog
How could you say that the 5.5L engine has a higher ceiling than the 6.2L engine? You admitted that a twin turbo setup on the 5.5L engine is not good due to vibration, but you have never heard that being a problem on the 6.2L engine. Not to mention the torque and higher horsepower you can get from the 6 2L engine.
The 5.5l has twice and many valves per cylinder. Forged aluminum pistons and titanium connecting rods. I think it can handle more power and is made for it. That part however still is my opinion/thoughts as I prefaced I'm the video. Thanks for watching.
It has bigger heads by far more airflow allowed with flat plane.. The same reason why an NA 5.2 Voodoo makes more power than a gt500 with a cross plane 5.2 by almost 100hp when they both see the same boost.. My buddy has a GT350 and on 7-8lbs of boost it makes 830whp..

well, i mean it was clear once we heard the sound at the ring mule of a flat plane engine that it had to be a Turbocharged 5.5 and not a 6.2... btw, happy halloween y'all.
I don’t know why manufacturers never use a centrifugal type supercharger instead of roots or twin screw OR instead of twin turbo, there are some very solid advantages like gas mileage/driving manners around town, cooling, packaging/weight etc. There are some excellent aftermarket blowers that have been successfully installed on these GM engines for 100s of thousands of miles
It is not known at this time so anyone claiming that answer is speculative at best. Sorry it doesn't answer the question but hoping to bring only credibly sourced info to the channel.
Doubt it. Boost adds additional stress to the engine so it's likely a lower RPM limit with a lower compression. Ferrari did the same when they went to the 488 from the 458.
Every manufacturer is constantly/consistently developing NEW engines. This really isn’t a surprise. I have sold for both Ford and General Motors for a couple decades. They will often have numerous engines right up until manufacturing dates.

Chill out, people. It will just be the E-Ray with a supercharged 6.2L. Ya'll act like GM will develop some super hyper alien ZR1 engine. 😂 It will only have 100-200 hp more than the Z06.
I just hope a lot of C7 ZR1's get traded in for one of these.. I want a 19 C7 ZR1 manual before my life ends.. People just won't come to reality of those cars yet.. They think they are an instant cash grab.. But I understand why they feel like it, as it very well could be the last front engine manual vette, and man is it my Dream Machine..
It's the vette of choice. It's still the king
The sound is muffled by the turbos. That's why they didn't want turbos on the eRay.
Just like I told them the ZR1 is not going to have electric motor in the front and the Z06 motor in the back I argued with the same guys you're talking about I was like you really think General Motors is going to do that no they're not that's not what is your ones about!
I bet they stopped responding to you when the facts dropped haha
Bring back that beast in the c6 but mod it heavily and give us an option for Awd And RWD 🙂🙂🙂
This car will go 300K plus no doubt fully loaded / 720 comparison will lead to 720 prices no doubt
It’s been really weird watching the best V8 front engine sports car become a mid engine sports car.
If it follows the last ZR1, it will be a higher HP, 5.5. But it only matters how it performs and at what price.
Where it is needed.
gonna have to be a cpc 5.5. look at the how ford did the GT350 and GT500.
Ford Mustang is trash GT350 and slow boat Ford Mustang GT500 Fordperfomance team still the most trash team in the whole world. Don't compare the ZR1 with the most trash Ford Mustang flat plane crank Fordperfomance team is the most trash team in the whole world.
Appreciate the real info, some of these corvette experts are are to busy begging for money or spiking their hair to try to be young again, this is the same guy that said the Z06 was going to be the last combustion engine in a corvette, also that the flat plane crank engine would no last with turbos, I think his GM source just likes to see him ma, maKe a fool of himself maybe his sugar has spiked
YESS FINALLY TWIN TURBO…. Bigger turbo down pipe & tune will push this car easy to 1000+hp and that all that matters. Anyone who says other wise it’s dumb. Superchargers are cool. But to make an ultimate car it needs to be TT just because how easy it is to make so fucking fast.. look at GTR king of the street. 720s stupid fast off tune & DP
I think (G M will blow Our Hair Back) once again with the last (Z R 1 Corvette), in the history of the Car maker!
General Motors, would consider it of (Poor Taste) to do something, that any Mechanic can build!
These Guys buildup the antisapation and free (Advertizing for G.M.)!
To speculate is to keep up the wanting to see the King of the Corvette, lineup!
Just as the talk about the (Zora)?
These Corvette's will go down in History as the Best (Corvettes) The General, ever Produce!
If I mispelled any words Please forgive Me!
the corvettes. are awesome cars GM. should have kept them the way they were. the other auto makers. are building stong and powerful cars. GM is building wishy-washy and woozy cars. GM used to build some of the most powerful muscle cars. and now they suck. will anyone let me know what happened? I hope that someone. will be honest and tell me the truth. why all these stupid changes.
Can they do the flat plane and the electric up front? Like the eray?
They probably could but seems GM is going the turbo route....probably saving the electric aspect for the Zora
Wish it was a supercharger.
Why would they sacrifice so much displacement? Why not just add forged internals and turbos to the 6.2?
I just wanna know can you cook over the 5.5 liter v8 engine with a twin turbo? The 6.2 liter engine was good for Barbecues will a smaller twin turbo roast beef!
I wonder if this car has DRS like the Mustang GTD, or the Porsche GT3 RS. If not, those two cars will flatin this one if it doesn't have DRS, also another question, active error underneath, does this car have that? If not, it's pointless! The other two cars will destroyed this one if not equipped with that.
Twin-Turbo 's Boo! I'd skip that and install my own SC Engine. Hate the 3 sec lag than instant torque
I thought GM might take the 5.5 from the Z06 and add the electric front drive system ..... and voila... the ZR1 !
Fingers crossed we get a 3 cyl diesel with a cvt.
😂😂
They would do a flat plane with electric but i dont see them doing a 850hp twin turbo on a flat plane and worrying about vibration and other issues
This will NEEEEEEVER compare to a C6 zr1. C6 zr1 will be the king forever
Probably going to put the 6.2 hemi in it.
Haha. You must have an inside source high up at GM 😂
For 200 Grand more than a loaded stingray and only a few tenths of a second quicker it seems hardly worth it. I hate to sound negative but toss in the AFM and you can forget it.
Makes since the gt350 with twin turbos makes crazy power with 8lbs of boost
1:47 Love the self awareness 😂 subbed.
Thanks 😁.
It's probably the same motor that's out of the Cadillac what's better parts
Quit groubling for likes and subscribe...we all know...hello...!
Dual overhead 5.5 cross plan crank V8 I think 💬
That's what my money is on too.
720? Sucks. They have a 765 now. AIM HIGHER.
Keep guessing folks. I know what engine is next. But, I won't spill the beans. Keep guessing.
This LT7 having AFM does this mean it will be a crossplane crank instead or flatplane crank?
Mixed messaging on VVT and AFM at this time. Im leaning toward CPC but no evidence to suggest either way with this leak
makes sense to leverage the 5.5 platform.....should be a beast BHP.
What if they were testing multiple engines at the ring and videos were of multiple variants
Could be but nothing to prove that or even suggest it. This is leak is the only credible glimpse of a future engine they are cataloging parts for.
@@JumpSquadAutoI saw another video from someone that was trying to say to exhaust note sounded like something in the 7liter range…that’s why I added
@@dameonsmith7763 They muffle the exhaust note so much on these test cars and distort the sound its hard to ever tell. Looking back at the Z06 test cars and what was in production.....sounded very different and audio never gave away a FPC. GMs good at keeping secrets...unless a vendor leaks a parts catalog lol
Boost for boost a flat plane crank will always flow more air and with that make more power.
They’ll supercharge it. Problem solved
Cool
More power and still no traction
Merica!!
Please no hybrid in the ZR-1
@@memertmemes2586can't compete these days without electric motors and awd
@@larryc1616 No point competing, we want drivers cars. Cut weight and give us an engine.
This car is going to be atleast 1
$125,000-$150,000
So u can boost the 5.5 beautiful
It will be a supercharged 900hp car. No batteries and motors. Still beats previous zr1 and other C8 variants.
I generally come to you for a lot of information!!! The various sources all seem to be having a lot of information and misinformation on this subject. Very confusing just who is right and who is wrong…
I do think a lot as far as the move towards twin turbos….. and supercharging. If that’s possible to do it, but what will they do??
Just what will GM Do?.?
They have to perform a lot better than the ZO6? And, be dependable!!!
Who wants an engine they can’t beat the cars they are completing against, even their own!!!
So given that, what could be; GM is going back to the C7 2019 ZR1 and using that engine as their 755 base horsepower engine with 715 for torque (A GM Monster in 2019) then adding some electric power from the new ERAY with ADDING 160 horsepower and torque of 125 pounds 🎉
A ERAY Monster that Accelerates From 0 to 60 faster than the = ZO6 Both Monsters!)
Add those torque figures together that both have??? That’s a total of 840 torque!!! MY MY, Power to the MAX!!!😊😊
Both are proven to be GM products and as well as being dependable!!!
That gives it 915 horsepower in total as well as torque of 840 pounds!!!
A 2024 or 2025 ZR1 With 940 Horsepower 840 Torque & 4 Wheel Drive!!!
What do you think? Can GM add Electric Motors to a high horsepower car 😅😂😂? 😊😊😊?
❤❤❤!!! I Believe It’s Possible!!!
Remember Muskie Muskrat) A Long Possum-Nosed Character 1960 to 1964) in the Old Cartoon Show Deputy Dawg? Muskie Catchphrase was: It’s possible it’s possible!!! (According to Wikipedia is “It’s possible, it’s possible). You’re too young, look it up on Wiki! Lol
I repeat that: It’s Possible, It’s Possible lol
Yes, I bet GM could do it, they could put an Electric Motor into a vehicle if they tried hard enough!!!
😂😂 GM and AFM should never be spoke of for GMs future. That shit is garbage
Yea afm is forced by the government
off topic. I believe active aero is coming soon.
Speculative but wondering if its like the Huracan STO where the aero is adjustable but manually. The cladded test car looked like it had adjustability on the wing bracket but manual lock points. Just my guess tho
@@JumpSquadAuto I would guess that it would raise in lower according to speed
🔥
This may end up being the best corvette model of them all. TT to be able to easily increase HP, great styling, great power for years until you get used to it while the warranty runs out and then increase the boost some to get that joy back.
Follow ford n they'll be ight😅(fort gt)
@@ldixon4548ford has a V6 though. This is a going to be a V8 most likely at least.
Is going to be the same engine as the Z06 but with a hybrid system
LT6 twin turbocharged?
Oh look another “sports car “ I can’t afford smh
Its not gonna be the 5.5. Its gonna be a built 6.2 or even better they bring back the 7.0 liter. No way its 5.5, not turbo charged. Pmus from the videos it sounds much deeper
I hope it is NOT a pushrod engine.
When was the last time GM shared any Ring time? 😂
I'm not a knowledgeable Corvette guy but doesn't Chevy usually have the z06 made with its own bespoke engine?
Yes and no. Most of the time the engine is different like with the C5 and C6 Zo6's (C5 Zo6's LS6 and C6 Zo6's LS7)
The C7 Zo6 was basically the LT1 with a supercharger and a few other tweaks making it the LT4
The original Zo6 from 1963 was a fuel injected 327ci small block. It was primarily a handling package on the C2 Corvette. Only 199 were made then.
300 with dealer mark up good luck getting one 😊
Haha. Hopefully GM finds a better process then the current customer last approach
Thumbs up... Thanks for posting!
Thanks for watching
Are the hood & spoiler on the thumbnail standard with the ZR1, options, or just an artists conceptual rendering?
It's an artists render based on the test car spotted at the ring. I would think the wing is for ztk package like the c7
950 horsepower looks like. Monster I can't wait for my new ZR1 C8 Corvette 2026.
Didn’t we already know this?
High combustion rate with twin turbos won’t work especially on flat plane rank , you skipped mechanics class idiot
subscribed!!!
Thank you very much!!
Good info. Stop with the bashing.
He says misinformation about what the motor and then he turns around and said with the motor is most likely going to be. Lmao. Confirmation unconfirmed
Well this is from a leaked parts catalog. Little more validity then the go to "I had a source"
Flat plane crank to the front thank god.
No 1, wait will be at least 2 years!
@@JumpSquadAuto Ti is for weight savings, not strength.
@@Clutch_Kick187heads are the same, the 5.2 predator has lower compression which is why is makes less HP per pound of boost when equal to a boosted 5.2 voodoo.

I hope it has 890hp.
That 5.5 liter possible cross plain crank engine after GM builds on the experience with twin turbos just may become the new official engine for the 9th Gen Stingray 32 valve DOHC Cross plain crank but higher revving engine at 550 HP 500 lbs of torque N/A will save on weight and emissions strict requirements. This may leave room for a larger block N/A 427 or even a reliable 454 Big Block Z06 or limited edition stingray or even a Grand sport
If the ZR1 is supposed to best both the Z06 and E-Ray, it makes more sense to me that Chevrolet would twin turbo a FPC in the ZR1.
well, i mean it was clear once we heard the sound at the ring mule of a flat plane engine that it had to be a Turbocharged 5.5 and not a 6.2... btw, happy halloween y'all.
Run it up brooooooo

Will it have the same 8600 redline?
It is not known at this time so anyone claiming that answer is speculative at best. Sorry it doesn't answer the question but hoping to bring only credibly sourced info to the channel.
@@JumpSquadAuto Thank you for your time sir.
Doubt it. Boost adds additional stress to the engine so it's likely a lower RPM limit with a lower compression. Ferrari did the same when they went to the 488 from the 458.
I’d prefer a 6.2L it will obviously have higher ceiling. No replacement for displacement. Plus lower cost easier to work on.
Every manufacturer is constantly/consistently developing NEW engines. This really isn’t a surprise. I have sold for both Ford and General Motors for a couple decades. They will often have numerous engines right up until manufacturing dates.
This video is nonsense BS.
Or they are testing it with 2 engines.
thank you for the interesting video!
