My grandfather was a lifelong truck driver. I remember he always wore his uniform with shirt tucked in pressed pants and cowboy boots. He loved being a truck driver
That was back when shippers and receivers respected truck drivers. Now they say "No bathrooms for truckers" and make us take a shit in a nasty ass port o let in the middle of the unloading docks. Treat me like crap I dress like crap.
@@brandonhebert5485 You dress like what you are
My Dad was a trucker too.
He would be ripping these guys apart! He always pointed out the bad truck driver's.... That was back in the 1970's and 1980's.
He would love this channel!
He passed in 1989. I miss him!
I always wore a uniform shirt, navy slacks, sox, and polished shoes. That says professional. IF we want to be treated like professionals, we need to dress and act like professionals.
I still do…shirt is starched and pressed boots polished!
In the oilfield, OSHA regulations require that we wear steel-toed flip-flops. 😏

😂😂😂
Listen OSHA never said you had to have solid shoes you could drill holes in the top to let air out your boss/forman will only check that the steeltoe exists
FR flip flops
And a rubber hard hat
With or without socks???
When some graduate truck driving school they issue them flip flops instead of a certificate!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Teaching dress codes is the job of the TRAINERS, and many are doing a sorry job of training these days.
That guy at 7:42 taking a leak on the fuel island, is a multitasker. He is taking a leak, and washing his feet at the same time. Shame on the flip flop mess. 😂😂😂👍👍
Cultural practices vary greatly. Diversity rules!
Yep, the ol’ splash factor at work...rinse em off!
Well come on! He accidently splashed his feet with diesel... gotta rinse them off somehow.
that is real talent
Fkn nasty
They are not Flip Flops they are OSHA approved Florida work boots!!! LOL
🤣🤣🤣
Or dumbass cushions.
Flip flops= Hippy steel toes lol
Must be related to Florida governor Desantis
I've been driving 24 yrs,and most of the truck drivers I see now make me ashamed to be a truck driver
Agreed. What happened to training? I used to train, and we taught trainees to wear a uniform shirt, navy slacks or clean jeans, sox, and closed shoes. And be clean and neat. As a woman, I had to fight for respect at some customers', so I wore a red linen blazer as well. I was always dressed better than the dock foremen who wants to dis me.
I just started my career 2 years ago and I feel the same way

You know I went to a loves truck stop in fort myers Fl for a cup of coffee the other day and realized this flip flop thing is real I couldn’t believe it. When I drove you weren’t allowed to wear anything but work boots, I won’t even wear flip flops outside my home
Exactly
Gotta love “ legislated diversity”!
I wouldn't wear flip flops even in my house, let alone in the work place. These steering wheel holders are a total embarrassment to our profession. Have a little tiny bit of self respect.
Good for you... I will, I do
Exactly. Flipflops are for the truck stop showers, which are often nasty. Not for driving.
happily wearing my flipflops for 11 years now. love em!
There's actually someone in this comment section with some real confidence. So many of these dudes, and the guy in the video, obviously have some real insecurity problems with their "flips flops aren't manly enough for me" nonsense. It's one thing to not wanna wear em for practicality purposes, or because you just don't find em comfortable, or whatever, but if your reasoning is that you're worried about "manliness" then you're really damn insecure and have some backward ass, superficial ideas about what it means to be a man
I always wore Jesus shoes out on the road whenever it was warm out. In places like Florida and California, shorts and sandals are culturally acceptable. In New York or Chicago, I threw on closed toe shoes.
Make America Wear Boots Again
Ever notice you never see a bull hauler in flip flops
Cowboy boots!
It's ok... one day one of them will drop a greasy pin lock onto those well protected toes. Watch how fast they switch their footwear then.
I’ve never worn flip flops except in the shower. Now I almost exercised once but was afraid I’d wind up on this show
Years ago when I went to truck driving school the requirement was you must wear work boots or boots. If you wore tennis shoes they wouldn't even let you in the class flip-flops they probably would have just beat the hell out of him buried the Outback
I remember when truck drivers looked like truck drivers . Shirts. Jeans and engineer boots
Last time I checked we all look/dress different. Fuck twats always complain about our constitutional rights being infringed on but completely forget about that good 1st amendment (freedom of expression). Mmmmhmmm
Heck I went from jeans to bibs cause they are comfortable
@@cowboyupnow63 well now you got a point there. Cool in summer and warm in winter

The obligatory belt buckle....
Kick ur tires with flip flops. Lol

In 2007 I told my wife not wear flip flops when driving our car , & it eventually happened she got that Damn flip flop caught up in the break pedal pulling into a parking space & hit the curb , could not stop ! & set off the air bags !! True story ! Lucky a curb & not another vehicle...
I saw a flip flop rack at the TA in Denver. Truck stops cashing in on the latest style.

@Sara Smith Get keens sandals at Academy. They are expensive but have closed toe. I wear them cause I have neuropathy and regular boots are too painful. You will love them. The leather ones are the best.
@Sara Smith let's hope you cover those things up with something holy
Ike you should make a shirt that says " say no to flip flop mafia" 😂😂😂
My father drove truck for 25 years. They were required to wear shoes and pants even in summer and the truck he drove did not have air conditioning in it. They didn't get air conditioning until the mid to late 1970's. Also it had to be a button down shirt No tshirt. It was company rules.
I agree 👍 💯 my grand father back in that era, true professional about his appearance, with company standard dress code,he 83 years young and retired,,,he laughed 😅 all the time about this when we would travel together,he makes me 😃 laugh, says wtf wrong with these people.i tell him,it is every where now,he tells me it is the invasion of flip flop curse.!@!!!

I don't wear flip flops outside of the truck stop showers. Steel toe boots, even in 100 plus degree weather. Hell, I don't even have a pair of shorts.
I let my old lady tighten chains. I stay bare foot. She hates givin head when I'm over eighty though... I hate it when I have to start the generator when she plays with vibrator called mister turbo...

I go to a lot of chem companies can't even get in the gate unless you are wearing long sleeved shirt pants not sweats no shorts and work boots! No flip flops no sandles no gym shoes!
Ok great for you !!
In case they don’t know, FMCSA states that you have to have on closed toe/heel shoes. If Mr. DOT pulls you over, they can put that against you in the driver fitness section. Just sayin. You should be wearing appropriate footwear.
Not true. There is nothing in the FMCSA regarding footwear. I drive barefoot. I had DOT come to my door one time and ask how I was doing and if I was ok. I had a flat and was contacting dispatch. He didn't care what I wore on my feet. When I get somewhere I always put on my socks and shoes so nobody SEES me barefoot, but I've driven every mile as a solo driver in a CMV barefoot. Always have. Always will.
www.truckingtruth.com/truckers-forum/Topic-17803/Page-1/approved-footwear-for-trucking-the-law
The only regulation regarding footwear is an OHSA one and it does NOT pertain to truck driving.
29 CFR 1910.136(a) - General requirements. The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses protective footwear when working in areas where there is a danger of foot injuries due to falling or rolling objects, or objects piercing the sole, or when the use of protective footwear will protect the affected employee from an electrical hazard, such as a static-discharge or electric-shock hazard, that remains after the employer takes other necessary protective measures.
Yeah but the sad thing is and i checked it out online, obviously there currently is no law neither in the US nor in Canada which prohibits to wear them. Don't get me wrong i always wear my military boots because it makes me sick to see more and more of these f... steeringwheel holders wearing them. It is a disease. What are this driving schools doing by not telling it the drivers to make it mandatory for their own protection. It is the governments responsibility to implement and make it law.
Who pees on the ground with flip-flops on 🤔
All that pee splashing on your stinking feet 😳😷
Truck Stop foot bath. Pakistan style!

You look just like my Sergeant from my last job, on that note we don't even allow convicts/inmates to wear flip flops outside of there buildings so not sure where Western Express got that lol.

People think you are strict, but I think that it's even wrong to wear shorts at a customer location let alone flip flops
Shorts shouldn't be worn at all in the trucks
On the days I picked up or delivered a load, I always wore blue jeans and work boots. Now I would wear shorts for comfort on the other days. I had a few people laugh because I was wearing work boots and shorts. Then turn around and they're wearing sweatpants and flipflops.🙄🙄 I reported a few of them that worked for the same company I did, for one it made us look bad and it was also against company policy.
In summer I did wear uniform shorts, belt, a uniform shirt, sox, and polished shoes. Hair neat and minimal makeup. That's neat and professional. Most of the guys with flip flops also wear yoga pants or sweatpants or baggy nylon shorts, and they look like crap.
@@kathyyoung1774 There's nothing wrong with wearing nice shorts. Did you drive for Buster Brown, FedEx or ABF? I think there's a few other companies that wear similar uniforms too.
@@bigbear5510 No, the longest time I drove for a single company was Burlington Motor Carriers (9 years). They had uniform shorts (navy), and they were insistent that we wear uniform shirts at customers and look decent elsewhere. Many guys refused to wear the uniform shirts, but I always did. If I wasn't wearing boots, because boots look silly with shorts, I wore white leather shoes, which I kept polished. Many older dock foremen were rude to women drivers, and I wore a red linen blazer, which meant I was dressed better than they were. It was harder to be rude to someone who is dressed better than they were. Yes, there was a difference in their behavior when I wore the blazer. As long as drivers dress like they are at the beach, drivers will get less and less respect and poorer treatment. Many of the criticisms of truck drivers are legitimate.
Wear something to support your ankles and hides them fungus covered Vienna sausages!
Flip-flop?, I call them prison shoes. Take a look at prisoners on TV and you will see, prison shoes.
