after driving otr for 25 yrs I decided to retire and stay local and when I get the itch to to go otr again I just watch bone head truckers and remember why I quit otr
IMO social media is ruining the industry.. Drivers rather get their phone out and record,, than help out a fellow driver. Thats my 2 cents worth.

Everyone should make a new years resolution to give up flip flops. I saw a driver walking into a shipping/receiving with flip flops when it was single digit temps.
I slip on shoes when at shippers/receivers for safety. But when I got 400+ miles ahead of me and it's just me and my truck, I do confess to usually wearing my flip flops for more comfortable driving. Hopefully that doesn't make me a bonehead trucker😁😉.

For 37+ years if I show up not wearing Hard toe boots & Hard Hat I be sent home without pay. They all had to come inspect my hard toe sneakers when they 1st came out. Then everybody got a pair for summer time.

I have a railroad youtube channel called Meigs County Railroad. I see a lot of Swifty Swift container trailers on trains. I guess that's how they keep them out of the ditch!

@@jamessimms415 Oh no NS destroyed Ol Swifty Swift's containers. An engineer can easily derail his own train by throwing it in emergency if train is unbalanced. Well 1 engineer handling a single car to a monster 3 mile long train is safer than the inexperienced Swift and Western Express drivers running their 80,000 lbs. equipment and loads down the road

I swear sleeping at a truck stop I can sleep through almost everything. But if swift start backing next to me I'm awake and watching.lol
I guess the days are gone when you pull out the old road atlas and you plan your trips out you could have customers number if things go wrong you don't know where you're going in the wrong area call the customer before you go down the wrong damn road but I guess that's too much to ask for nowadays

Yes you are right. I remember the days drivers help each other out. Even stop & help motorists. Poor driver got shot & killed by other driver in road rage incident about 75 miles north of my home. What a shame his poor family now without a Dad.

Best advice I can give you is stay alert at all times. Watch your mirrors. Try make a game out of it. I try keep up with each vehicle around myself. Big Trucks Big Blind Spots. Few min's is not worth the chance. You still will make basically the same time. Trick is keep the tires rolling during driving hours.. Not stop each & every Tk. Stop for" A Cheeseburger & Soda Water".

Happy new year! I have been professionally driving most of my life.. at age 17 I started with tow trucks.. always had a passion for driving.. One thing I liked about tow trucks when I was young was going to all the accidents makes you think when you’re driving.. therefore by saying this….. I really like your channel I hope to God I never end up on it. Lol. But in my eyes I find it very educational and I don’t know if I’m the only one that thinks this way but who wants to be a bonehead trucker and how do we make the road safe thanks I love your channel
