- Tasting Blue Java Ice Cream Banana right off of the Plant.
Did you know that the real name of is: TARS 18018 - ‘Blue Torres Strait Island’
There has been lots of controversy over this greatly mislabeled Banana Plant in Florida and around the U.S. It is the “ice cream” Banana Plant.
I grow both the Blue Java and Namwa Ice-Cream banana plants.
If you would like to know more about both the Blue Jave and Namwa, I have put together this page (see link)

Thanks Sam for taking the time to do the video. :)
You bet! Thanks :-)
It could be the camera angle but it looks like you got bananas for hands too. I think this man has been working with his hands haha
Good timing! I have a young rack on my Blue Java. Our first rack from this variety. I can't wait until I am tasting it, like you.
Thanks, come back and let me know how you liked them? Sam :-)
@@TheFrugalHugelGardener I will! I am in Brevard Co.
Thanks for sharing this I’ve finally got my first ever bunch of bananas off my Dwarf cavendish but I do have a couple of blue Java hopefully will one day bear fruit. I live in Pensacola florida
Very cool, best of luck. go to my website TheFrugalHugelGardener dot com and look for caring for banana plants. :-)
Beautiful banana trees! I occasionally see some in Georgia but never see fruit on them.
what part of GA, South, Middle or Northern?
Does he describe the flavor
Will the tree fruit if you dont remove/cut pups? I have heard it will only fruit with one main tree and pup at a time?
if you watch my videos you will see that I have some clumps with six full racks on them.
I think that's a dwarf nam wah. Blue Java are way much taller. dwarf Nam wah usually fruit right in your face and no ladder needed. Funny that your name is Sam too. lol
if you watch some of my videos I have Blue Java rack that are up around 10 feet and same for Namwah. and yes some at face level.

Are blue java really blue and real ? There's alot of talk around them being fake lol
No they are not blue in color, just have a hint of blue film on the outside of the peel.
