    I'm kinda mad right now. Mine hasn't fruited yet, but based on the leaves, I think I have a Namwah, not a Blue Java. Maybe Namwah is a great banana, but I don't appreciate being misled by this company.

    Thanks for the detailed video. I think I've got a Namwah (Pisang Awak) mis-sold as a Blue Java in New Zealand. There are similarities in the plants, and even flowers etc - but I will use your video and photos to make sure.

    In short, blue java are missing the palm, fingers come straight out of the wrist. And, Namwah, a palm is connecting to the wrist and holding the fingers.

    I want to send a picture of my blue Java that I bought in 2021. It’s finally fruiting this year (2024) and now I’m starting to wonder if it’s real or not. It was purchased through a Florida nursery, but I can’t find my order number or anything. Anyways, it was sold as a Dwarf Blue Java plant. I can’t find any evidence of a dwarf existing or anything.

    • @sideeyes7480

      It’s about 6 ft tall, the leaf color seems appropriate and the hands seem appropriate, but I’m suspicious still

    Your blue Java banana hands look just like mine. But my blue javas are quite taller from what I can tell in this video. I can’t reach my bananas without getting on a step stool, and I’m 6’3”. My Namwah is a dwarf so it’s much shorter.

    • @TheFrugalHugelGardener
      @TheFrugalHugelGardener  Год назад +1

      Hi Jason, come to my FB page and PM me some photos. Mine went from pups to fruiting within five months, some of my plants are taller, and some shorter. I guess it depends on how many months old they are before shooting out a Bud, which stops the growing process. I guess the main thing about any Banana plant is how the fruit turns out!

      that's a tough call, lots of factors involved. some people cut them down to the ground and cover them, and some dig up the corm and bring them inside then plant again in the spring.

    The frugal hugel gardener,i have a question about my banana plant.I bought labeled as Blue Java (ney mannan).But im seeing it bit more like a Tall namwah.The leaves have red undersides,in lower leaves more concentrated color.The pup is suspicious too,magenta ring that is pretty big and red underside.But the new leaves on both look weird.The big one has a new leaf with a thick ring,but the color is blanched in to a white and the red underside is unexistent .The pup has the same characteristics,blanched white ring and no red underside .They are not flowering because they are in a pot

      I was sold a dwarf ice cream banana and I already had a blue Java ice cream banana. None have fruited yet, but now I’m confused. They look similar but the dwarf ironically looks bigger and seemed to be more resistant to cold damage, and the other one I got the blue java is growing slower and looks slimmer
