    In Thailand, we actually eat the banana blossom after cut it away. We chopped them up and mixed with flour, season it with bunch of herbs and curry powder, then deep fried. Oh it is so good

      Plan is to do some form of in-ground winterizing. Not 100% sure yet though. I got this one to fruit this early because I built a greenhouse over it last winter. Probably will not do that again though

      @@georgiafarmingwithfluevog .. what about building a greenhouse? Doesn’t have to be an expensive one. Just tall enough to house your banana trees. Then just plant them in the ground! I heat my greenhouse with a ventless propane heater. And keep fans circulating the air. Even with the Arctic freeze we had last December that caused us to lose power.. that ventless propane heater kept my banana trees alive in zone 6B. It got down to -4 F and wind chill was colder than that

      @@georgiafarmingwithfluevog I don’t recommend it.. but you can if you want it will cause little to no difference because cutting more off wont affect how fast the rest of it will develop because no matter what the stream of nutrients from the roots to the fruit is always constant no matter if you have 200 fruits or one hand.. it will take the same amount of time for a given hand to plump up…done tons of research on banana forms and ones with a tiny hand will still swell at the same rate as a big bunch.. the only difference is the bottom will be newer and the top older but the rate of swelling is the same though the whole bunch just slightly newer at the bottom and older at the top

      I'm making a video in next 2 days about the bags and will cover everything on them. I had ordered the wrong ones originally and now how the right ones that arrived from Australia. Essentially it speeds up ripening and creates a warm, microclimate inside the bag so that it feels more tropical to them even when it gets cooler outside

      @@georgiafarmingwithfluevog awesome!!! Thanks for your response. I have been watching all your videos…(went back and watched the old ones too)! I have learned a lot from you. I live in KY…. Zone 6B… so there is no way I can grow my Double Mahoi banana trees outside…. So…. I literally dug a large hole in my greenhouse floor and planted one in the dirt! So it will have room for roots to go as far and wide as it wants. The other tree (I have two identical trees) I left in a really large pot. The one I planted in the ground is already sending up new leaves every 5 or 6 days. I may not need the bags if they live in the greenhouse year-round ya think?? I fertilized mine with Espoma Tree Tone but not sure if you would recommend that fertilizer or not. I can’t wait to see what happens to your bananas in the next two months!!! Keep us all posted! 😀

    I had a question about your Veinte Cohol - I think you got yours from Wellsprings? I have 2 from them and they are huge. Right at 8 ft pseudostem and 14ft high to top leaf. Other than waiting on fruit to confirm it’s a VC And that it got to this height so quickly this year from 2ft 2gal plants….I’m concerned it’s a real VC because of the lack of black splotches on the pseudostem and also lots of reports of people’s VC getting to 5-6 ft and fruiting. I’ve been watching yours in your videos and the plant looks very very similar to mine in July. I wondered how yours has been this past month and if you’ve read in to the VC any bit. I have pups on mine that are 4-5ft tall and I’m hoping to keep these potted and ready to rocket up next year.

    • @georgiafarmingwithfluevog
      @georgiafarmingwithfluevog  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah I was definitely curious about the height as well. Mine is about 7 foot pseudostem and 12-13 leaves. I also had though it would fruit around 5-6 feet. It has been quite fast though. Mine does not have the black splotches either. Have you found good literature on it? I’ve read a bunch of conflicting information online. Haven’t found a good source detailing what it looks like

    • @garrettenglish6094
      @garrettenglish6094 11 месяцев назад

      @@georgiafarmingwithfluevog I guess it’s a race to see the fruit and confirm. I have found too much conflicting info online to know what to trust. Wellsprings gets their bananas from AgriStarts as do quite a few other big vendors. Hard to know. A publication entitled “Growth Performance and Economic Potential of Veinte Cohol” shows average height among several tissue and pup grown sources to be roughly 5ft at fruiting. I read that these respond and grow very well to fertilizer and water which of the 15 or so varieties I’m growing this one in two places (both tissue culture from Wellsprings) has shot up and above and at a faster rate than any of the other varieties I have.
      I will say I have a smaller Veinte Cohol mat grown from a pup sold by “Tfarms” on his eBay. He has a RUclips and showed the fruit in his and talked about the plant a bit which describes a different banana than what I’m growing from Wellsprings. The one I obtained from him is much shorter and has the black marks all over it. Just have to grow it out some more and push for a flower next year. We’ll see what happens.

    • @georgiafarmingwithfluevog

      @@georgiafarmingwithfluevog I wouldn’t have thought it would make much difference.
