When he said it’s very addicting to start modding your truck I felt that
Ive dumped 100s just on cleaning equipment and stuff in just like 6 months lol
I’m in the same situation !! I’m actually omw to auto zone :) to buy this same product and so I can tint the heyol out of my lights
@@dareyflores1467 😆 i used spray maxx 2k clear after the vht and it turned out perfect. Like that 2k clear makes it pop and will last years. Highly recomended
For real, I have a Honda and let me tell you , I have turned into a Honda head so badly there is always something I want to do to it , I love learning new things about my car and doing new mods
Bro it really is
Audience, that was simple and appears easy to do yourself. Replacement smoked tail lights are way too expensive. Great tip and JOB!!!
Turned out better than I expected, gotta admit I was a little skeptical on the whole spray tint but I do believe I will be purchasing this stuff for my tail lights
Same !! Been debating spending almost 500$ on aftermarket dark lights but i got kids 😂😂, im going this route
@@Clarkey123how’d it look bro 😭 finally just said fuck it yesterday & went to grab vht I figured if it looked like shit I could just sand it down & clear coat
thank god it turned out perfect 😂😂
@@mawnnslet’s goo to bad we can’t see pics brooother
@@mawnns good bro and honestly that’s all if it wasn’t to ya standards :p 05 dodge for me
Same stuff I used this past summer when I tinted and color matched my lights. I finished it with a wetsand and compound and it looked like the lights came from factory that way. It does a really great job!
what grit sandpaper did you use?
@@noahclark5052000 grit is what’s generally recommended for wet sanding as it will buff out with a buffer and some compound. Then a polishing compound/pad to finish.
You need to clear them with an automotive clear coat if you want them to last. Then you can also wet sand and buff them.
Good advice man I was wondering about that
I smoked out my tailights with spies hecker automotive clear with solvent based black paint. Sanded them 800 and shot 3 coats of clear over them. I work in a body shop so I used what they had left after painting a car. Turned out awesome
Shouldve masked off the reverse lights. Imo
I've had my truck for a week, i tinted the windows, blacked out my grill and badges and I'm getting some morimoto headlights and leveling the front end tomorrow...the mods get addicting realllllll quick
Spraying inside the house. Always a great idea
I lol'd when the newspaper wasn't even under the box.
@@Xxmeca421xX lol I like this dude but that's crazy
Didn't notice till you said something about the box on carpet only
@@Xxmeca421xX lol
Spray is Spray, you WILL be able to tell, especially at night. Tint is the way I would go. JMO.
Used this like 4 years ago on my taillights and they still look perfect
NARK NARKO just used the nightshade
Did you do a clear coat?
@@MikeSmith-fq5dv u do not use clear coat at all.
Personally I've painted my third brake light flat black but left out lil rectangular shapes for cargo light . this looks sick on a black or dark blue Dodge RAM. This also gives the truck a ol school look .
I warm my rattle cans in the microwave, it saves time.
Don't microwave them it's a joke
😂😂somebody probs blew up there microwave from this
I should have read the rest.....you owe me a microwave.....
@@sojourn1544 hope your joking lol
BRO YOU OWE 2 FINGERS THAT THING BLEW UP MY MIRCORWAVE
Benjamin Young 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why do people have to hate. Almost every video. There are young ones that don’t have the money quite yet and these kind of mods are really all they can do and afford right now.
Holy crap, this dude loves to talk!! 🤫
Ikr
Don’t listen to these haters man that’s a bad ass truck u got. And looks even better now with the lights
How’s your carpet? It would be smart to put the newspaper under the box lol
😂
I usually mask out the reverse lights. They pop nice that way. Great lookin unit man.
Love everything about the truck I just never understood why anyone would want to paint their vehicle lime-green😂😂😂
3 years later this stuff is $23 😭 lol….still going to buy it, thanks for sharing the video
May I ask how did it go? Did it look good? Ive been told sprays leave bubbles or little dots
@@Alex_cast it went pretty well, easy to use. The only thing I would do different is lightly sand the taillights rather then just wipe them with alcohol to prevent the spray from running
@@LouV_55 might try it out thanks!
This video was very helpful. I thought the only way to darken your lights were the blackout covers. Great call on the hot water paint can!
I saw this video a while back. I was about to buy smoked taillights and decided to try this. I worked great and looks awesome!
I did this to my Foxbody GT convertible. I put super bright LED headlights and tail lights from Headlight Revolution. The standard bulbs were not very bright when the lenses were not tinted.
I washed the taillights, then cleaned them with alcohol and wet sanded them with 220 before I sprayed them.
Thanks for the tip and video!
Looks much better with your set up the rest of your mods. Shoot some plastic or tire shine on those wheel arches! It definitely finishes off any detail job.
I just did mine. This stuff really works.
shouldv sanded them for better adhesion, and hit them with clear coat after to make the shine, then (if wanted to) polished them for a super nice finish
Cheap Nail polish remover worked with such ease it removed black tint window paint in my car with no effort at all no one in all the car mechanics on RUclips even suggest this simple solution
you should of painted that KERMIT THE FROG truck with that can..
😂😂😂
I was thinking the same shit.
Damn...too funny 🤣
The only thing I recommend is taking some automotive tape and putting it over the clear reverse light part of the assembly. Itll help make sure you will be able to see when backing up at night incase it's a little dark. Also a grease remover before spraying. The shade will hold forever! But looks sick man.
Nightshades then wetsand 1000 grit then 2k clearcoat then wet sand buff when cured for better quality
Matt Ive been waiting to do this on my truck how many layers of clear coat is best
I swear I thought I was the only one that done this same method on my frontier tails lol wouldn't believe the difference clear coat etc would make
why not just add some black to your clear coat and spray one coat
Or just get the film of darkness you want and save a bunch of time and money.
Thank God, I was not the only one who thought of that.
People nowadays legit just talk bollock for 10 minutes. Get to the point
10min mark gets you an extra ad.. They do it on purpose to milk the system
People that complain about videos being to long make me laugh. Just skip ahead. No need to bitch in the comments section. haha
biggy balls ....fo real tho appreciate da video bt dam
He's informing. It's basically his job to teach people and do tutorials. If you want specific info then skip ahead. It isnt hard to just click.
Gabby this was a whole year ago you wet wipe
A stubby antenna would be a nice touch.
Used the same on my 07 about 8 years ago, came out great. One different thing I did was clean the lights with rubbing alcohol and also taped off the reverse lights
how is it now, did it last or fade?
Have you tried clear coating after tinting? I'm curious how it'd look
Keep doing videos like these for cheap upgrades, I got the tailgate assist from u, and want more!😂😂 makes my truck seem newer
Once it dries you can spray it with clear coat, a can of clear coat and that will protect it from peeling chipping or fading!
More coats the better!
About to search for some led's before I go pick up a can and hit the tail-lights and 3rd brake light on the Magnum. Modding is addictive. Thanks for another great idea. You just got yourself another subscriber with the color of your vehicle.
This is exactly the type of dude you’d think of when you see someone driving this truck
JUST WANT TO THANK YOU THE TAIL LIGHTS CAME OUT GREAT.
Hi Ryan thanks for the video. How the spray tint holding up?
Nice job. Those lenses look great and professionally done. 👍👍
It really gives you a picture on how y’all that truck is when he try’s to put it in the garage the bed looks like it’s about to touch the roof 😂😂
It’s so big 😂😂😂
Nothing quite like tinting your brake lights, which is the first point of visual light reference for drivers to know you are slowing down and making the light harder to see.
It is a nice and cheap mod. One can did about 4 costs on mine and third light and cab lights. I did mask off backup and cargo lights. No issues with police even with smoked windows and windshield. Been about 3 months all holding up except for cab lights are peeling. So as much as I want to I won't tint my headlights.
Thanks for introducing this product to me. I honestly never knew it existed. Gonna try it this weekend.
So how it went
@@popularloner2641 Fr lmao
I night shaded my tail lights with night shades a little darker than yours, and about 3 months later the lens melted and caved in. No fault of VHT, southern NM summers get over 110 regularly.
FYI they will get hot and if you don't replace them with LEDs they will deform a little from the heat from the sun on some vehicles 👍 great diy brother
Looks good man! I gotta try that on my duramax I just picked up 😜
YESSIR!
Ioo
Thank you for the tutorial.
No clear coat needed afterwards??
You should've used an exacto blade and yellow frog tape to tape off the reverse lights. It would've looked much better with the reverse lights showing clear during the day, PLUS you can actually see your reverse lights at night time. It will also keep the cops off your ass at night time as well. Still looks good though, buddy. Happy New Year!
Just bought a can of this, hopefully I’ll see it on my taillights on my Tahoe. 👍🏻😎
The fact you're from Ohio is enough for me to sub Go Bucks
OH!
@@ryan2546 IOOOOOO
Looks good bud happy new year!! Thanks I have a stock truck so nice idea to start with. I have a inferno tundra so would look slick like your line is. (Lights wise lol.. )your is super dope
5:42 for those who don’t know how to take off the lights
How much overspray did you get in your basement carpeting? Nightshades been out long time. great product. Nice truck👍
Changing it up from plastidip to this , over the matte look , what gonna be fun is taking care of emblems to get off the plastidip
Did you put a new seal gasket on the center brake light? After a few years that seal wears out and you will get water in your roof and the dreaded rust.
WOW,One Beautiful Truck
"Its very addicting to mod your truck" lmaoo truest shit 😭 nice ram coming from an f150 owner 😉
Traitor...😑 jk
I'm definitely doing this during quarantine
That's about where I'm at 😂
can i do it without taking out the lights? and just saran wrap it all up around it
April 2020...how those light look now? is that paint holding?
So you didnt have to prep the sruface or anything? Just clean it up?
Always The Final Step towards the end, hit up the lights with rubbing compound trusssttt meeehh
50,000$ truck 15$ tint
Gotta love high school kids
Beamer866 😂
ok boomer
This is 3 years old and I just pick up a can and 30 dollars now just crazy how much stuff went up in that time
Looking for the same shit and was like damn I guess people really found this product.
You gotta spray with a clear coat!!! 💯
Have you gotten pulled over for your lights being to dark? I did mine a few years ago but got pulled over because they were to dark like yours.
Has your tail gate assist ever broke or wore out. The bracket on the end attached to the tail gate basically wore out and doesnt lock into the ball joint
You need to reseal that third brake light or it will leak. All Ram owners should look under your rear seat once in a while to make sure its dry. Mine had water about three inches deep on the passenger side due to someone removing the brake light to put in L..E.Ds and not resealing it.
How well does the night shade hold up to car washes?
yo just subd to you man. Normally id call your truck a pavement princess but i love your vids an your pickup bro. Keep up the good work!!
Appreciate it my guy!!!
I am a painter and that’s what I do is clear and black paint. I can make them as dark as you want
Any issues with passing inspection?? I heard of people taping off the reverse lights and then unmasking them in the final coat so the reverse portion of the tail light only has a light coat
Great video. After applying the tint, is it easy to remove?
Should you put some clear coat over?
my car has a light bar going all the way across the back end, hence will be purchasing this bc buying a crap load of tint is expensive and would have seams.
The product is nice but in real hot weather it tends to crack on the tail lights. Haven't tried the heads lights probably won't because it's a pain to get off once it drys and cracks so if you can use it in a hot climate and it not crack more power to you and good luck
Now it's 2020 how it's the tint holding up after so many washes, does it leave a matt or gloss look after tinting with the can
Looks much better
How did they hold up all these years later?
Looks good ima do it on my titan taillights!!
One coat looks pretty sharp
Wh spend $15 on that product when dollar tree has permanent sharpies for $1.00 worked for me
Lol
He’s being innovative on a budget, not hillbilly lol and this makes a way better video, I couldn’t watch someone taking a fat marker to 6.7_Lime lol
He paints inside on his carpet 😂 7:30
2PURDY 😂 😂
Very AWESOME. Liked how it made the truck look. Might do it on my Chevy.
What brand is that brake light bar?
Does the finish look foggy? Can you wet sand or spray a clear coat over this product?
Is that the translucent or the black for the night shades?
I’m about to do this to my Ram 1500 this weekend, how long after you coated them did you let them sit before putting them back on the truck?
Does this stuff work on your emblems also ?
How was the seal on your third brake light after that? Have you had any leaks since removing and reinstalling?
Is it glossy ? I seen some that looked gloss but they are flat smoked
Wow man ! Looks dope , ima do that to my truck bro thanks so mucho very helpful and save money 💯 but I would put LED Bulbs on them tail lights to make them stand out a bit more my opinion but looks great man thanks for sharing this idea🔥🔥💯
100 Bucks and i got mine done professionally, painted then baked. They look perfect so clear and smooth, i hate the rattle can always leaves an orange peel look to it and just drives me nuts. seems to fade also. It's 15 dollars for a reason.
That looks sharp, good looking truck! Those lights look professonaly done, can't even tell it came out of a $15 can of paint. Keep up the good work.
Im gonna order this stuff for my jeep today ,, thanks man ,, good tip
Is it removable ? Like plastidip is or is it completely permanent, because my tail light are a pain to remove so just curious if a lil overspray would hurt the paint
Just put a wet substance around the lights so it doesn't stick to the car like putting tire wet on the tire when u plastidip rims
Is there a way to keep the reverse light part clear ?
Used Nite Shades on my last truck, love that stuff. Happy new year
aren’t you supposed to use clear coat on them after the night shade
Do you need led bulbs before doing this?
