For Spraying method ;; If you're not sure how dark or light you may want yours . . Turn the taillights on while tenting so that you get a better vision on seeing how much you want it or how less you prefer it.... I once did it this way and made it much easier to see how it's coming out. ..

I've always done a spray tint when restoring headlights and taillights for friends with rustoleum. I'd sand the original clear completely off and spray with the tint, and then go over with a good, wet layer of 2k clear with 2 or 3 layers. This has always worked for me and given an extremely deep shine after polishing and waxing. And it works with any shade from a light smoke to full blackout.

The spray can easily stay on longer then wrap.. first of all I always take of the lights to get the paint all around the corners.. second, I finish with a 2K clear coat to make a perfect and much stronger finish! And therefore I can also polish it if it gets wash scratches!

The LEDs are bright enough to shine through the tint like it's not even there and don't hyper flash due to the built in resistors. Maybe they like that fuzzy inconsistency that all rookie spray-jobbers have. Do it right, even if it takes a few tries, looks multitudes better than tagging your ride.

OG Smokin nope, the heat will only make it worse in the ones he did because it’s overstretching the vinyl, that specific one he could’ve done it way easier and faster. You only need heat when vinyl can get around with ease. Plus it takes you more time cutting actually than laying the vinyl in those.

OG Smokin yes reposition it as many times you want to make it flat, dont use heatgun unless is a really hard curve. Basically hold the vinyl and work your way out slowly laying it down so you dont get any bubbles. Look for ckwraps or justin pate, they are amazing people to learn from.

    • @sorrowdada

OG Smokin also I recommend if it’s the first time to use a scrap sheet of vinyl and play with it, so you get confident and understand how it works. Believe me I’ve done both of them tints and the vinyl looks way better in person.

That was expensive, plus the one piece back window film. All the sprayed lights I see look like crap. I live in South Texas near Houston. There's a lot of custom car's. The spray lights that I see look dull, you can totally tell that it's sprayed and to dark for me. I just want to go a little bit just to give it a nice look. I can by pre-cut film. But I am afraid of the darkness and if it covers the whole thing. The roll over for that park between the light and body. What do you think would be the best way to go. Thanks.

If you take the time to tint the reflective material within the tail lights, you might have to install cheap looking reflectors. Example - Washington State Law = RCW 46.37.060 - Reflectors - (1) Every motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, and pole trailer shall carry on the rear, either as a part of the tail lamps or separately, two or more red reflectors meeting the requirements of this section.
