I'm not sure it's fair to use this particular car as an example of RR reliability, because this car's been maintained by a dealer, meaning all issues will have been fixed by this time. Now, a service record for this car would be a better judge of its reliability 🍗
I have an 06 Range Rover supercharged and it’s been great. I didn’t service it at all really except for oil changes. I’ve owned it for 7 years now and the only thing that has went bad is the starter and the suspension airbags as of recent. It now has about 200 thousand miles and still going. No expensive luxury car is going to run maintenance free or free from problems like my Corolla so stop expecting a Land Rover to be that. And mechanics will always tell you not to get one because they don’t want to work on them.
The engines are (mostly) Ford-inspired AJ-series V6s and V8s and are as reliable as any Ford engine. The transmissions are ZF and are bulletproof. Its all the off-road stuff that breaks and is expensive to fix. Strange thing is, the more a LR/RR is used for off-roading, the more reliable that stuff becomes. It is because in America, 90% of RR buyers never use the off-road equipment, it never moves, never self-lubricates, never cycles, and it becomes brittle/degrades much faster. You can find plenty of old RRs with 170K miles and years of off road use and they are tanks. If you buy one, USE IT!
I hear that they have terrible head gaskets. It seems like every comment section has prior owners or someone saying that they had to replace head gaskets.
I saw a comment once that said “ The most dependable component on a Range Rover is the Check Engine Light”. 🤣 I have a friend that leases one of these and it’s been one issue after another. They are great looking and comfortable but IMO I would select a different vehicle.
Its always "Ive heard" or "someone I know". Ive had several and if you take care of them properly they are just as good as any european or american car and way better than Nissan. The maintenance is very costly if you dont do it yourself, but nothing on the road drives like a 500 HP supercharged luxury SUV that can hang with a Rubicon offroad and take turns like a sports sedan. Nothing Ive driven comes close. Even my 25 year old Discovery offroad rig with 200k miles is still awesome. It drives like a dump truck but its an amazing offroad machine with just a bit of lift and tires. Tough as nails. Not one of them Ive owned has been on a tow truck even once. Admittedly, I have spent a lot of time chasing little problems but totally worth it.
Can't base your whole response to a very good question on a drive with one car that the lot is trying to move. Dig deeper into the question - I'd really like to know the answer. Looking at a Disco/Defender to replace a Yukon that has given me great service.
“Here’s a Range Rover for sale on a dealer lot and it appears that some of the systems are still working (repaired), therefore all Range Rovers are quality built machines and not hunks of trash that will leave you stranded with a MASSIVE invoice from the shop…” How does such a capable machine that can get you so far into the wild have such an embarrassingly bad reliability record?
usually the ford V8 and V6 are better but the 5.0 today is only on the RR Sport SVR. Other V8 models like the full size use a BMW built 4.4 V8. Some diesels were also BMW made. It’s pretty obvious the BMW engines were unreliable
great example of a good, classic SUV with supercharged 5L V8 engine. I want to hear about the latest plug-in hybrid Range Rover with 35 kWh battery. Any high power auxiliary AC outlets?
These are actually very nice trucks. Comfortable, luxurious, and great power. I would say that if there's gonna be something very dramatic happen to it, let it happen while it's under warranty. Usually, there is nothing that goes wrong with a new vehicle when 1st bought, but if it does, the warranty covers it, well hopefully lol. Now you don't wanna get stuck with a land/range Rover with an expired warranty and the darn thing needs a new motor/transmission. Or maybe has electrical issues. I can't imagine what the cost of that would be. Do you guys see what I'm getting at 👀?? Great video Ben!!👍
Get a Toyota Land Cruiser instead, you’ll be better off. Unless your rich and you can afford to change cars every couple of year’s. 122000 miles for a car to still work now days isn’t any thing to brag about. The trade in value drops like a stone on these vehicles.
What is the price of that used 2011 Range Rover? I'll see if I can find it online... Any link posted in description? I think I found it. $14,900. Nice.
I’m never buying a Land Rover they Break down to much and plus that they maintenance is high don’t buy a Land Rover bad to buy there entertainer screen lag too much on the 2021 on the range Rover sport but the dealership will fix all the problems when the person buy it but that don’t mean nothing it still will be more problems

i think you got the only good one lol my moms almost blew up

but where do you use it?
No one wanting a off road vehicle goes for a Range tho. It’s seen as a luxury car more than a rugged car nowadays.
Every mechanic I have ever spoken to said NEVER buy a Land Rover. They are trouble in a package.
Same

i can almost guarantee the tech went out but it was fixed in that dealership for a good amount of money.
Compared to what I usually drive, a 10-year old car is practically a new car to me. 🤣🤣

My opinion mileage isn’t the problem it’s how good it’s taken care of I’ve seen cars with 200,000 mile look better then ones with 10,000
I thought Range Rovers had more electrical issues than mechincal ones.

Suvs^ not “trucks”
Yeah man i don't get it , people having myth that range rovers are unreliable
"They know they can get the money - because it's a luxury vehicle, right?"...
😧... Those vampires! 🧛♂️ 🧛♀️
Great, stuff still works. But what have been the repairs under warranty and what have been the repairs and cost out of warranty.
