Somehow, a lot of the charm and humor in the Sims 2 got taken out in Sims 3, and we still haven't gotten it back. The random moments like pulling out the paper cup on the stick when Social need was low, or rocking a flour bag, or getting left at the altar if your Relationship score was too low. I still enjoy The Sims but a lot of the fun randomness has been lost.
Chris I was so excited when I found out about the ultimate collection because I think I had the university life pack (university with two stuff packs) and the city one (late night?). I might’ve also had the pet one with the packs. I don’t remember. Only the university one and the base game (obviously), the other stuff, whatever I had was my cousins. I’m pretty sure she lost my sims 2 base game, but she claims she gave it back to me. I haven’t found it, and it’s been a few years. Fucking bitch. I was happy because I could have all of them and play the Sims 2 again.
Actually, now that I think about it, what if someone intentionally buys a copy of TS2 on eBay that is broken and then tells EA to get the ultimate collection? Would it work? I’m asking because I bought a copy of TS2:DD off eBay and BodyShop was broken, and after I contacted EA, they gave me TS2:UC for free. I might try that one day.
Yeah. It was taken out when they got rid of the cutscenes and little things like this intro and introducing a proper story and compelling soundtrack. 😔
The way The Sims 2 holds up in 2021, where The Sims 4 barely feels like a recent game. Outrageous. I’ve been playing since I was 10 years old and I’m 27 now, still playing this game and loving it.
When i played The Sims 2 I wondered how the intro for The Sims 3 would be. When I played The Sims 3 I wondered how the intro for The Sims 4 would be, but there wasn’t any.
Technically you only needed one copy, as you could load the game on one PC, take the CD out of the cartridge, and then load the game again on the other with no issues. That was how me & my siblings played the game thrice simultaneously...
@alexsaffamerica Yeah, it was the EA logo from the OG NFS: Most Wanted (also the one used on the TS1 Complete Collection). With Glamour Life Stuff they used the Sims variant.
So many memories of many summer vacations as a teenager endlessly playing this game, seeing that intro and waiting for the load screen for a good ten minutes or so
I was also a teen and I couldn't wait until Friday to play this masterpiece!!!!! I would play until 3 to 4 am....... wake up on Saturday at 10am to keep playing until 6 am the next day.,..... to then wake up at like 1pm on Sunday just to keep playing for the last day cause the weekend was over but on summer vacations..... I would play all 2 month's lol, you made me remember that
my birthday is September 18th, and the game was released around September 23rd I think, it was like my birthday even though no one gave it to me, I gave it to myself and I just had turned 16
I was 25 when this released and have been playing it ever since. I stop for months at a time but always go back and end up making new videos and just playing too. I remember getting the original Sims and loved it then 2 came out and it floored me. I’ll never like 3 or 4 as much, especially 3, too much different and 2 will always be my favorite. Especially with the years of custom content I have in my files. Ahhh memories...
My parents never bought us games, so my brother cracked the Sims 2 for us, with Nightlife! I loved it to death. My favourite sim was a single Vampire that I made super rich and happy. Still think of him sometimes!
I remembered my laptop barely being able to play the game. When the opening came it was always slow xD thats why its weird watching this video because Ive never seen it so smooth before LOL

My Sims 2 installation from my old XP computer has since been transferred to my current laptop running Windows 10 and it runs perfectly despite a few flaws, among the minor flaws are that the game stuck at 800x600 despite the fact that my laptop's graphic can go up to 1920x1200 or 2160x1080. This is even more annoying for me as I already modified it in the graphic configs file deep inside Sims 2's folder. And when i tried to run it in Windows Vista SP1 it won't run at all. Instead it comes up with an error that basically says that your installation requires the Sims 2 base game to work properly and I already have Sims 2 installed. Was it due to DirectX9?
It's the first time in years I see and listen this. I can't describe the emotions I got from watching it all again. Childlike joy and the huge promise of hours and days of unfiltered fun. I swear I almost cry of joy, even though i don't have this gorgeous game installed in my current pc. Saying it was an emotional re-encounter is not doing it justice, this game embodies and has embodied happiness even through the darkest times of my life. (Along The Sims 1). 💙 I wish the makers of this game and those of The Sims 1 know they're cherished for giving us these masterful gifts.
God I was 14 when this came out and had been playing the original sims since I was 10. I remember being so excited to be a TEEN in the sims! And then living my life out through university and being so excited about when it would be my turn. Now I'm 30 and have been out of university for 9 years....life flies by. I still play Sims 4 now when I get a chance!

That was Sims 2 as well, but if I remember correctly the EA logo changed to the Sims EA logo sometime during the title’s expansion cycle. So depending on what version you played the EA logo ident would be different.
I remember playing this back in elementary school. My aunt came over to stay for a few days, when she left. She forgot her sims 2 double deluxe and i had mom call her to tell her she left it. I was told i could keep it as she saw me enjoying the game a whole lot. I miss my aunt sometimes (She passed away from cancer when i was 14) i play it from time to time in memory of her letting me keep the game.

I showed my sisters the Sims 2 intro and told them excitingly that they could download Sims 2 with all expansion. I thought they would be happy about it. But they told me that they have moved on with their life's. They got kids, families, friends, jobs and all that. The comment wasn't meant to hurt me and I don't even think they realised it did. I guess I'm just the only one without kids or a future. My life feels stuck. And I'm just doing the same things I've been doing since I was a kid, as it gives me some level of comfort and joy of a happier time. 😢

That's why despite so much not being in TS2, I still prefer it over newer games in The Sims series, and why I have the ultimate collection.

Yes, it was only on the base game. The earlier EPs have a newer logo, while later ones have the custom Sims variant.
