Hello, I'm back again, as much as I like ts2, ts3 outdid itself, I loved the ability to put paintings downloaded from ts2, but being able to work as a painter is great, that's all, bye bye people people@@TheRedPlumbob
In Sims 2 paintings can appreciate in value if you don’t sell them right away. They especially go up in value if the original artist dies. It’s a super neat detail.
My favorite thing about this channel is how you try to recreate the same sims in each iteration of the game (and their homes too). I just really adore the detail and effort placed into your videos.
@@AzumarillConGafasBvYou need a high painting skill then click "paint from reference" and you can take a photo of what you want to paint. I usually get my Sims family in a pose and then paint them 😁
there is also the sketch pad from the sims 3 university life which sims can use to increase the painting skill and sell their sketches from, they also do classes with this sketch pad outside :)
You can also sell paintings on a special stall in sims 4 with the city living pack. It's so useful to take to flea markets and sell your paintings at a 100% mark up from what they're worth! Also the kids when painting at the kids drawing table they have quite a few options to draw different things too. I love that about the kids table!
I love painting in Sims 2. It's a very powerful tool. 1) Toddlers scribbles from the art table can be picked up and put on the wall. 2) Looking at a good painting three times can fill the fun bar to the top. 3) Sims can ask others to join them in looking at paintings, so you can have functional art galleries. Unfortunately this option is a bit buggy. 4) When you paint portraits, the sim being painted can indicate if they like it or hate it (again a bit buggy) 5) Custom painting is such a powerful tool. You can paint anything if the size is right. Newspapers, posters, famous artists, the list is endless. In my game one sim only paints horses, another only Da Vinci. Maxis defaults are not important. Artist now can have a style uniquely their own, and when they gift other Sims, you know where the painting is from. 6) When you add Open for Business, you now can sell that unique art. I got one sim that only sells farm signs, whilst another only sells expensive pictures of classical horses. 7) There is a Sims 2 cheat that allows you to replace any photo with a new image. Absolutely perfect for signs, but it may not be relevant here, because it does need a external paint programme. Any will do.
In Sims 4 there is also Freelancer Digital Artist career, which is about painting on the tablet. Anyway, I actually like the fact that in Sims 4 you have to pay for the canvas. It brings some balance to otherwise overpowered skill. And, let's face it, especially in Sims 3, painting was easy money. Glad they changed this. And these different art styles are also great. But I don't like the fact that large canvas in Sims 4 is the size of medium canvas in previous games. Still, Sims 4 is my winner here.
This wasn't mentioned in the video, but TS2 has a hidden painting skill. If two sims with the same creativity level, one who painted to get there, while the other played instruments to get there, the former will earn more from their paintings than the latter...
Ohh that is super cool! Thank you for letting me know :) I've seen a few things mentioned that affect the price of paintings, so it just shows how in-depth this game is.
In Sims 4 there is also a possibility to visit painting lessons by phone, this is available every day from - as far as I can remember - 9:00 a.m. to 21:00 p.m. Also, with "University" packs we can study as future painter. I didn't play Sims 2, but I had these ones in Sims 3 and Sims 4 and really loved it))
In the sims 4 under freelancer career, you can be a freelancer painter and it helps keep track of your progress and give you various gigs to chose from
In Sims 4, when painting the focused art. There's more than one focused painting. Instead of just only creativity skill, you just have to get your logic skill up to have a different focused painting. Try when your Sim's skill logic is at level 5 or more to have a different image of the focused painting.
Children in Sims 1 have a creativity level assigned randomly. They always paint the same painting, but the price depends on the level they got. So no, not every child's creation will sell for 71 simoleons
yea, some children may obtain 10 Points. letting them earn 166 (Though I personally remember being able to use FAR Editors to change the painting easel tuning, I caused Paintings to sell for 500 at 10 Skill using the FAR Editor to make a mod, which, allows sims to actually make a living and keep valuable furniture)
The details of the paintings in Sims 3 I never knew about. I have to say the volume of different types of paintings in the Sims 4 win for me. Some of them are just STUNNING!!
@@TheEtherny The custom paintings are literally as much as the player customizes, but NO, Sims2 doesn't have infinite paintings. If you want them to paint something at random, they're limited to just EIGHT...
In The Sims 2, Sims will also sell their paintings for §0 and cry if they have no creativity points. It's difficult to see because they usually earn at least one creativity point before finishing a painting. I only noticed it because of a mod I use to slow down skill point progression.
In the sims 3 game kids could use the Adult easel’s a little step stool would appear under their feet and they would paint the same paintings that the adult sims would paint I loved that. And the teddy bears are really cute and the little kid ovens.
There's a few things missing about the painting skill & the painting career ect for 4. I know as I love doing rags to ritches with artist sims and the art selling wall for the flea market is my most used object in the game😂
I'm pretty sure the reason your sims paintings became weirdly dark/warm was because of her traits actually! Certain traits like genius or evil will cause a painting to gain a filter, like the pixelated one, I believe this can happen autonomously too? Sims 3 is honestly built around those traits and I'm SO happy about it, makes the game so much more fun to me!
Sims 4 also lets you become an independent artist for a variety of things! Like brands, video games, etc. I forget if it comes from any particular expansion, but it was a natural option for my Sim
I think I also recall sims 3 having a feature where sometimes paintings your sim sells have a chance of being placed into the galleries in town? but I might be misremembering
I think u forgot this detail but in the Sims 3 if you sell a painting off the easel, there's a chance it would replace some wall decor in the town's art gallery.
Am I the only Nerdcubed fan who thought they clicked on the wrong video just now? This classical piece will forever be linked to me watching the months latest electronic business news😅😅
Overall, TS3 wins. The skill journal and opportunities alone push it over the edge. For me, TS2 would win outright, if painting was its own skill. However, some notable accolades go to TS1 for their randomness in creativity level for children (every child has different creativity levels). Not certain about TS4, but all the others, finished paintings steadily increase in value over time. TS2:FT makes painting values accelerate when in the zone and even more so when painting at the hobby lot. TS2:NL+ (NL added fury), allows enemies to sabotage paintings, which can increase/decrease values, depending on the saboteur's creativity level. TS2:OFB allows even low creativity paintings to be sold as if they are masterpieces, accordingly with increased creativity skill when sold (that includes any toddler's fingerpaintings). TS2:U's drafting table also works in similar fashion. Also, I just recently discovered this from another video covering paintings, that TS2 paintings vary with personality (combined with custom paintings, there are an infinite amount of paintings). Btw, TS4's mood paintings are just a reintroduction on a smaller scale to TS2's personality differences. Not certain with TS1, but TS2+ additional paintings are unlocked with certain DLC installed. While many might assume TS4 to reign supreme, especially with the emotion system, it merely takes elements from previous games, but all are watered down compared to its predecessors.
@@TheMya1988 Videos and blogposts (like the one above) only point to this being a thing in Sims3, NOT in Sims2... How about posting a video where you show it or replicate it!?

i feel like (as always) they improved things from the sims 1, 2, and 3 but then the sims 4 didn't really add anything new to the table. i like that certain traits affect paintings in the sims 3, it's a cool small detail that i hadn't noticed before lol.
The frame in sims 3 is customizable! You can change it if you go to in build and buy mode and click on it with the painting tool to change the color of it.
It's not a mod, you can definitely change it in build and buy. I've done it multiple times to match my sims furniture and other decorations, and I don't use mods in Sims 3.

Bro what… I’ve played at least 30 hours of painting in sims 4- why have I never seen 80% of those paintings???? Is mine glitched out or did they just add a bunch of paintings????
There are way too many paintings, maybe you're just not getting these yet? Or if you're getting the same ones over and over even tho you level is up, then perhaps it's a bug.
I don't think I've ever realised how many Sims 3 paintings got converted into Sims 4. It's almost embarrassing. Also, I soooooo miss Sims 3 large paintings!! Give me a beautiful square to evenly fill my wall or give me death
On a completely unrelated note, I ran into a Sims 3 Library file I was trying to make where your main Maxis Sims were related to one of my old long running families, so I have to go back through your videos to get your family tree straight again xD Got Anne, John, and Larry here Have to do redo Penny, Annie, Johnny, Eliza, and anyone else that might be in here
Yeah, that non-customizable frame in the Sims 3 that doesn't ever fit ANYTHING, that you also can't get rid of, is a really sad detail in overall the best game for paiting in my opinion.
if I remember correctly, I think there's a mod that lets you do that for the sims 3. I can't remember what it's called, but I think it's on the modthesims website.
Sims 4 designs and animations got so lazy 😢. I’ve been buying all the sims 4 packs since day 1 but I’ve deeply regretted it since the quality and love from developers has substantially gone down….
As an artist, I'd say Sims 4 is the winner, but I can't say that with certainty. I love the variety of tools available to draw with and the emotions that go into the drawings. It makes sense as an artist. The only thing holding it back is that Sims 4 has a really shitty gameplay tied to the emotions system, so I don't really enjoy it that much. 😅
@@EclaireIV The emotion details in paintings in TS4 is a watered down version of TS2's personality variations in paintings. I could go even further to say the entire emotion system of TS4 is a watered down version of even TS1's personality system (which is bases upon just personality points, interests, skill levels and mood levels). TS2 goes the farthest regarding emotions, with added interests, hobbies (and enthusiasm levels), aspirations (along with benefits and levels), employment/education levels, chemistry/attraction (with enhanced star signs, likes/dislikes, one-sided relationship scores, aspirations, etc.), relationship statuses and levels (combined with fury and enemies), occults/hybrids, magic/potions, reputation, enhanced personality points (can evolve multidirectionally by encouragement, occult status, potions/magic [temporarily]), misc. benefits, perks and debuffs (i.e. from: vacations, business ownerships, university, etc.), plus the most in-depth memories system that ties all other systems together. While I do not consider myself a graphic artist (cannot even make stick figures look interesting), I am a writer, who uses words to paint pictures. As such, TS4 might be able to barely squeak ahead of TS1 for painting, it pales in comparison to TS2's personality-based painting system and TS3's trait-based painting system.
@@TheMya1988 Did you seriously copy and paste your original response onto this person's comment and make a few changes? We get it, you prefer previous Sims games over The Sims 4, but please refrain from invading other people's comments with your copied and paste opinion.
Everything you love about TS4's painting is a rollover from TS3, and TS3 has it superior because of the skill opportunities. When sims paint in TS4 they don't hold an easel even, this is how much of a downgrade it is...
@@adrianblake8876 I am a "she," not a "he," but am not offended if you are not certain, and call me "they." Only TS1 and TS2 have a personality points system. TS3/4 both have traits systems. With that said, TS3 does vary in painting styles, according to traits, which is an enhanced version of TS2's variations from personality points + aspirations (albeit, TS3 is far more limited to just a few traits), as the variations are far more striking, and not just subtle nuances.
Sims3 wins this time. The variety in canvas size, the large amount of paintings sims can paint, personality affecting painting. This is besides the skill journal and opportunities of TS3 improving on every skill...
Technically they're still painting. Mixed media to be more precise. And to be honest, for alot of kids, that is how they do art at home - the only place they use an easle is in kinder. Not many schools at least here in Australia have easles until highschool. Hell I'm a watercolour Illustrator and I don't use one either! I paint on my lap or at a desk as an easle is cumbersome and takes up a lot of space and isn't as portable as I'd like. I'd love the sims to eventually allow you to have a sketchbook & have the sim sit on the floor, chair or desk and draw away but dream for another day😊
17:52 I don't understand the utility, then it's useless registering the minister of labor. It's totally useless... Totally pointless... Totally worthless... But people use that feature? I don't see the point of register with ministry of labor, do you get the money? EA should explain the utility of this thing
It's useful if you have mods for certain careers that don't come up in the regular careers list (not mentioning them here but you can take a wild guess & be right😂). I use it for rags to ritches artist sims who sell thier own art at the flea market as they are not employed by anyone or working for commissions. They're 100% in it for themselves & their art. I'm not going to lie, as an illustrator myself who used to sell my own work at markets as my own boss without commision jobs or working for a company it does what it needs to by giving you a job title and yes, some days you don't get paid because you don't make a sale and gameplay wise unless they'revery specific with what you use that for it would be very hard for it to track every created thing your sims sold so leaving it open is a better solutionto having a buggy feature few will use. I find it is great for those creative pursuits that make more money off the flea market tables than selling on Plopsy or in a Get to Work shop (as some stuff just doesn't sell or work well in those shops I find)
I say the Sims 2 has the best painting system in the series due to custom paintings you can get sims to paint whereas the sims 4 has the worst painting logic and animations in the series.
I can't stand the Sims 4 stupid smiles all the time and painting with a brush only! Come on, even Sims 1 had a palette! And kids can't use the easel but small silly table, that normally should be use by toddlers :') This is as stupid as this whole cupcake machine... :'D I am biased because Sims 3 is my favourite, but as an artist myself, I DO enjoy the artistic traits and activities in this game.

A very very game breaking skill, since it could replace jobs to earn money.
On a completely unrelated note, I ran into a Sims 3 Library file I was trying to make where your main Maxis Sims were related to one of my old long running families, so I have to go back through your videos to get your family tree straight again xD
Got Anne, John, and Larry here
Have to do redo Penny, Annie, Johnny, Eliza, and anyone else that might be in here
Okay, wow! That's cool but I gotta ask....who is Eliza?
@@TheRedPlumbob It was from your Aliens comparison actually - you named the alien that :P
@@TheRedPlumbob Turns out there were more deviating names than I thought (like the Toddler video had three different names 😂😂) so this should be fun 😁
Wondering why if there are so many paintings in sims 4, my sim always paint the same 5 over and over again
The Sims 2... you unlock a secret location. What could be better than that?
As far as I remember, in the Sims 3 you can change a frame like any other furniture:)
@@Avalon991 I thought so too, but because I use so many mods, I was not certain if it was due to a mod.
Nice posted! I love The Sims 4! 😃:D
Have you ever considered looking and comparing the PC games to the different console ports, Such as Sims, SIms 2, Busting Out, and the Urbz?
I haven't played those games but never say never
Only in the Sims games can you actually make a living painting. IRL, not so much. To this day, the most I can do are crumby stick figures.
WAIT WAIT WAIT WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?
HOW DID YOU GET A CLOSE UP IN THE SIMS 1?
It's Simitone :) basically Sims 1 in 3D, it's not perfect but it's cool!
Yeah, that non-customizable frame in the Sims 3 that doesn't ever fit ANYTHING, that you also can't get rid of, is a really sad detail in overall the best game for paiting in my opinion.
It's a crime that you can't use the Cast (Create a Style) on the frames in TS3.
if I remember correctly, I think there's a mod that lets you do that for the sims 3. I can't remember what it's called, but I think it's on the modthesims website.
Man, i wish i need to see a new video for the guitar in The Sims. Can you actually upload it for me? My brother loves playing the game alot! 😊
At another point, but for sure :D
Is this music on background from Sims games? Just interesting to know))
Please do a Bar/Clubbing edition. 👌🏽
TS3 wins!
The sims 4's first running painting 😭😭😭
Why the 1rst is same quality that 4th sims.. EA WHY
Banger
Sims 2 and 3 are the winners
Where i can buy the sims 2?
Sims 1 is the best
Sims 4 designs and animations got so lazy 😢. I’ve been buying all the sims 4 packs since day 1 but I’ve deeply regretted it since the quality and love from developers has substantially gone down….
The sims 2 will always be the best in the sims 2 you go and do a custom painting of photos that are on your pc and again the sims 2 wins for me
sims1bad😢太少錢了
UNDER 15 MINUTES GANG❤
@@celestiashiAnd he makes a blatant error in it. TS3 has paintings vary according to personality (this was shown in the video here,) not TS2...
With that said, TS3 does vary in painting styles, according to traits, which is an enhanced version of TS2's variations from personality points + aspirations (albeit, TS3 is far more limited to just a few traits), as the variations are far more striking, and not just subtle nuances.
it's a tie between sims 2 and sims 3 for me.
once again Sims 2 is goated
Sims3 wins this time. The variety in canvas size, the large amount of paintings sims can paint, personality affecting painting. This is besides the skill journal and opportunities of TS3 improving on every skill...
I wish kids in the sims 4 can paint instead of using the creativity table 😔
I think it is mostly used in lieu of the personal bio (this is how it is used by the devs when they upload sims to the gallery...)
@@adrianblake8876 oh.
@@meikahidenori yeah but I don't use so much tho
I say the Sims 2 has the best painting system in the series due to custom paintings you can get sims to paint whereas the sims 4 has the worst painting logic and animations in the series.
Sims 2 has the option to paint a Westie dog, so it wins.
Wow you lied to me, you said you would consider my idea later BUT NO😡
I can't stand the Sims 4 stupid smiles all the time and painting with a brush only! Come on, even Sims 1 had a palette! And kids can't use the easel but small silly table, that normally should be use by toddlers :') This is as stupid as this whole cupcake machine... :'D
I am biased because Sims 3 is my favourite, but as an artist myself, I DO enjoy the artistic traits and activities in this game.
