The fact that in the Sims 2, they can be upset over a deleted object is one of my favourite details, and it works because Sims actually have relationships with objects coded into the game! It’s the same reason ghosts often go back to their old beds and cheer when it’s still there or sims missing an object when it’s stolen by a burglar. The game uses this in place of something like the Sims 4’s bed assignment system, because it makes the sim recognise something as belonging to them. It’s a really subtle and sophisticated system going on in the background!
@@Star.gazrrr As far as I know favorite objects are chosen based on how much the sim uses it. Usually its bed, car, couches and various entertaiment objects. Yet they reacted according their stats, for example my Sim was turned on by bad smells and red hair, but his wife was red head and had high neat stat. She had a bladder accident so she was down to red and he got visibly turned on, tried to get her to the bed but she was "not in the mood" and cries. This was sims 2. Sims 3 had personalities instead of stats. My sim has hot headed and disciplined, meets a diva sim while there's an evil sim and a good sim watching. Diva makes comment on my Sim, my sim immediately fights diva, evil sim cheers and laugh it out while good sim panics.

This only confirms that EA never understood what actually made The Sims a success, after the creator left the development team the game became what corporate thought it was about, a dollhouse simulator. You build, decorate and play with expressionless mannequins.
Another example that The Sims 4 is a half-baked, dlc greedy, cashgrab While The Sims 2 is what EA "used" to be, even The Sims 3 wasn't that greedy. I mean sure it had poor optimization, but with Sims 3 you only needed the base game to enjoy it and you still got a good amount of content
The Sims 3 evolved in a bunch of things, like open world, no loading screens, color wheel etc, so I personally believe that maybe the developers focused so much in the brand new content that they were forced to slightly downgrade some details. Yes, it'd be better if they existed in TS3 but at least it still gave us several new things. I think that TS3 doesn't deserve to be called greedy because it didn't disappoint.

It’s funny looking back, because the Sims 2 expansion packs were still a case of cash grabbing, since it was like £30 per expansion pack and still meant the full game cost upwards of £300. The difference is, back then, they knew they really had to put care and effort into it, or people just wouldn’t buy. In the modern era, they’ve made so much money out of the franchise, that they feel that they can just force players to pay thousands for a full game experience in The Sims 4.
The most greedy the sims 3 ever got was the store but everything else you can tell was made with passion and love. The packs were so fleshed out and detailed and even with the base game there's still so much to do it's a very hard game to get bored of
So funny how TS4 was advertised as the most emotionally complex Sims in the franchise. Yet the girl seeing her mom showering in TS2 was INSTANT. Where TS4 the girl had to pause and then go "Eeek!" TS4 honestly could have been so much better if they scrapped the entire thing and started from the ground up, instead of building off a preexisting code for an online game. Like it's no mystery that TS4's faults lie within its spaghetti coding. If TS4 was exactly like TS2 but had its graphics and CAS/Build systems, it could have been the best.

They would still have a good reputation if Sims 3 lasted another 4 years instead of forcing Maxis to make a game that clearly wasn't ready. They did the best they could. :(

I remember last year, I was trying to give Don the ultimate slapfest by having him invite all his lovers over so they could catch him cheating with the garden club lady. But before I could set things in motion, Tybalt Capp shows up to steal Don's newspaper because he was a grouchy guy, and everyone on the lot: Don, Kaylynn, Cassandra, Dina, Nina, and the Garden Club lady all turned to point and yell at Tybalt as he ran off the lot with the paper. One of my pet peeves about Sims 4 is the constant emotion changes. A sims finds their spouse cheating. They get mad for 2 seconds, then happy and then excited, all within a span of 10 seconds. I get whiplash with all the emotion changes.
Honestly for me its more like the lack of emotion changes. It is so easy to override sad / angry emotions, tense is a bit harder but still. Hot headed sims and gloomy sims are basically pointless I find, and since I got growing together they will constantly ask to change to cheerful because all it takes is a single not terrible quality meal, decoration a shower ect ect and suddenly theyre never sad or angry like they should be. Not to mention with the addition of infants there is the random infant happy buff. Sims are basically always happy. Negative emotions should really stack like how happy boosts the positive ones. Like tense or uncomfortable should boost sad or angry.

The Sims 2 is the best sims game tbh, it was made w so much attention to details. I played for YEARS with only the base game and it was super fun, once I got all the expansions it only got better. As a long time fan, seeing how we went from that to whatever the hell TS4 has going on is very sad
Something I just remembered about The Sims' reaction to death is another moodlet would overpower their sad moodlet, even if it includes hearing about the death of another Sim. I think that's something Maxis should consider in the next Sims game (if there will be one).
Even in Sims 3, the death moodlet (or any negative ones for that matter) weren’t overpowered by them. Even if their mood bar was in the green they would STILL cry every now and again.
And another thing i hate in sims 4 is no matter who dies, my sim can just cry (mourn) once and the entire moodlet will disappear and theyre no longer sad
I don't how true the story of the original build being lost to an office fire is, but if the TS2 is the game we got despite that major setback... my god. TS4 could never and will never.
Simlish sounded so good in TS2 as well, the way Sims in general speak much more "fluently" really helps it sound like a foreign language rather than funny noises read dispassionately off of a script
Love how the sim from sims 4 starts clapping then stomps with an angry face before going right back to smiling. I hate the constant smiling. Most people have a resting face. No one goes around just standing around with a smile for no reason.
What’s worse is that a lot of the reactions, emotions and interactions in sims4 are only possible if you buy kits and expansion packs; At least in sims2 they were just all automatically in the base game 🤦♀️
Can we talk about the fact that we have to sit there and earn extra traits instead of being able to get five off the rip like in Sims 3. Or even have zodiac signs in Sims 2. And how the hell do we have to get 40 different packs to get body piercings but yet none of them come with lip piercings yeah you get that off the rip with Sims 2
The animations don't have as much emotion because in The Sims 4 they have those feelings where the emotion they are feeling and a description are written. so you don't see much but you read.
Would be great if emotions actually had an impact, but everything is overpowered by positive emotions, so this doesn't even work... Also, I play games to see & experience actual gameplay, not for reading endless descriptions...If I wanted to read, I'd rather take a book.
This is a wonderful video, thank you for making it. I still play ts2. I tried ts3 and ts4 when they first came out, but I played them each for only 1 day, I was so disappointed right away. I expected them to be better than ts2, but they totally were not. I went straight back to ts2 and didn't look back. I'm so grateful the people who worked on ts2 did such an amazing job.

So far Sims 2 will always be my favorite game they had better emotion and was more entertaining than Sims 4 the Sims on 4 are just little robots waiting for instructions on what to do next, Sims 2 they were more entertaining because they would do more things on their own and I have to say I love it when they look at the camera and complain because you make them do something they do not want to do like cleaning.
S4 Sims just feel so shallow. Like, I can see that they're mad, but what are they mad about? How will it affect their future? Something about it is so uncanny.
sims 4 is me after my whole family died in a fire but suddently the energy drink kicks in and i do pushups and think about jogging while smiling the rest of the day
EA most definitely gave us an u finished game back in 2014. There's no other explanation to the lack of life in comparison to the sims 2. With all the missing details and pools and half baked animations in the sims 4 it's like right in our face that the game was never finished or in a final state of production. They just needed to release the game already because they needed their investments back so they released it as it was and what it was was not done. This is my only viewpoint on the matter because how could actual game developers not see the issues when I know nothing about a video games make up and can see that this is just an incomplete game.
It feels like there's 3 main issues: 1. Forced Reactions to certain things. That clapping in the cheating thing was forced, then she actually reacted. 2. Late Reactions + No Staying Power. Appearntly they have to finish what they're currently doing, even if it's literally moving or reacting to another thing before actually reacting proper. Then it's like that thing barely had any effect at all on them. 3. Sims don't look. This doesn't sound like much, but this *seriously* bogged it down. Take reacting to sim in shower. Not only can you see 2 in spades, but the kid didn't even look at the shower. It makes it hard to parse their emotions without *any* effort to make them at least look in that general direction.
i assume its because in the sims 2 emotions are based on the action while in the sims 4 actions are based on emotions. sounds dumb but let me explain, in sims 2 your sim only gets angry at specific events like beeing cheeted on, noticing someone they hate or seeing an object they repeatedly failed to repair (yes i had one sim who was activly mad at a stereo he got electrocuted from 3 sepret times, he only got mad while the object was broken) in the sims 4 on the other hand emotions are basicly flags and what your sim does is based on whatever emotion is currently the strongest. in normal gameplay the "happy" mood is usually dominating, wich is why its always overritten by some other positive emotions, but the negative ones barely stand a chance. so even something like beeing cheeted on wich schould give a huge negative moodlet barely puts a dent into their overall emotion and they continiu to be happy/flirty/energised ect.
Also, alot of TS4's Delayed Reactions are both...because the Broadcaster is freaking SLOW. but also doubly so with Death broadcasters. I Personally took it on myself to make death broadcasters much faster. sims often start reacting before the sim has stopped the animation, though mind you I Still prefer the older games
i just love it, it shows how much care and attention went into the making of the sims 2, compared to how much of a mess the sims 4 is, even with its 82 packs its gameplay with sims 4 wont ever outshine how the gameplay in the sims 2 is, yes the sims 2 has its problems well mostly technical ones, but mods can help with that
As an autistic person, I find Sims2 sims the easiest to understand because they emote so much with their whole bodies as well as speech and facial expressions.
Dude this perfectly encapsulates everything I hate about The Sims 4. it feels like the world was made for you to watch and only you, characters live together but dont seem to care to what happens around them or about other characters. I always enjoyed observing how the sims in The Sims 2 react to the weather, what other sims do, to life events, it felt a world lived in, it's a world made for them where you're just a part of it not the sole reason why all of it exists, they may acknowledge your presence sometimes but thats just it, it makes you feel as if you werent there watching they would still live their lives, go to school, spend time with their families and get lost in their own shenanigans.
I actually prefer TS3's reactions to bladder failure, how most sims are concerned for the sim who is having a accident, compared to the animations displayed in TS2, and the Lack of animations in 4, also you do realise that Trisha Traveller was smiling in TS4 because she had Gas N Giggles....forcing her to laugh, it's a Get to Work Illness. I can tell
Whenever I cheat in the sims 4 I miss the bouncy sound effect from the sims 2 :( I also get so annoyed with the sound effect that plays when a sim dies, breaks up or gets in a fight. It doesn't go with everything.

The Sims 2 is the best sims game tbh, it was made w so much attention to details. I played for YEARS with only the base game and it was super fun, once I got all the expansions it only got better.
As a long time fan, seeing how we went from that to whatever the hell TS4 has going on is very sad
NEVER FORGET EVERYTHING THEY TOOK FROM US. SIMS 2 DID IT RIGHT
All I want is a remastered version of The Sims 2. Is it really so much to ask?
I wish! 😭
Think i might just dedicate my life to making a life simulator like sims 2.
Why do Sims 4 smiles look like a terrified coping mechanism
Simlish sounded so good in TS2 as well, the way Sims in general speak much more "fluently" really helps it sound like a foreign language rather than funny noises read dispassionately off of a script
5:30 the Sims 2 twinsies were FURIOUS with each other you could hear it in their voice 😭
Oh my gosh I can't with them!😤
Love how the sim from sims 4 starts clapping then stomps with an angry face before going right back to smiling. I hate the constant smiling. Most people have a resting face. No one goes around just standing around with a smile for no reason.
A Sims 2 character smelling their own fart and having a giggle about it is so real.
1:08 that cry looks so fake😂
0:32 bro was happy at first then realized "wait a second"
XD
1:19 him just swinging after divorce😂
The sims2 should be their benchmark for making next sims.
But NOOOOOO.. They just ripped us with never ending packs
The sims four sims just stand there like deer in the headlights.
Even their hair has more emotion
It's the little details like these that make sims 2 so special and the best in my opinion
Sims 2's parents fight is so heartbreaking 😢
What’s worse is that a lot of the reactions, emotions and interactions in sims4 are only possible if you buy kits and expansion packs; At least in sims2 they were just all automatically in the base game 🤦♀️
Intro : SIMS 2 VS SIMS 4
background: sims 3
@Sitycims Exactly. Are we reading, looking at a mood ring or enjoying the creation of an experience for both ourselves AND our creation?
@@Sitycims
All of it includes reading especially if you want to do things like travel to Sylvan glade or the tunnels in the werewolf place.
If you put 2 on the right, it would look like the sequel. Even graphics wise it looks better than 4.
Like many others say, sims 4 is broken. Some may even say dead.
They shot themselves in the foot, honestly.
Man why the fuck sims 4 looks like they all always high?
they are all in drugs xd
This is a wonderful video, thank you for making it. I still play ts2. I tried ts3 and ts4 when they first came out, but I played them each for only 1 day, I was so disappointed right away. I expected them to be better than ts2, but they totally were not. I went straight back to ts2 and didn't look back. I'm so grateful the people who worked on ts2 did such an amazing job.
once a sims 2 girl, always a sims 2 girl. first time i played was like 15 years ago and i still play from time to time.
sims 4 is too clean for me
but isn’t it really difficult to play still? I tried but I couldn’t even make it work😮💨
@@LianeCarinaNot difficult at all. Only needs 3 patches. The 4 gb one, the shadow fix one and the graphic rules to make it play. Any sims 2 website will help you, and after 19 years there's still a ton of them.
@@LianeCarina4 gb helps it run on new powerful computers. Shadow fix removes the strange black boxes. Graphics fix heps it to run with new computers better resolutions and your done. There are additional mods that you can install like Hatch's sliders that fix selectors in body shop being misaligned.
@@Diovanlestat thanks 🙏 but this sounds really difficult and complicated for me haha😅 and I only have a normal laptop 💻 now I love the sims 2 but with all this work I’ll just play sims 3 and 4 😊 I’m not so smart with this stuff🤣
The Sims 4 is too damn positive to the point the characters become dumb.
At the cheating in the sims 4 she was like uhuul she finally got someone, waiiit is my husband 👀😡😤
Mary Sue cheering for her cheating husband made my day :D
Oh my gosh the son running upstairs to cry after seeing his parents fight. That's such a great realistic touch.
Sims 2 is better than, sims 3, 4 and inzoi. Don't care what anyone says.
Ok? Lmao
Just nostalgic.
@@morryalone9082 no nostalgia, I only started playing sims 2, 3 months ago, after playing sims 4, for 6 years. And sims 2 wins in terms of gameplay.
Just looking at the title I already knew that without a doubt!
Man the sims 4 is so pathetic
When I get a new computer, I will definitely download sims 2 or 3
It feels like there's 3 main issues:
Swinging on a swing while your family has a mental breakdown 😂
Please people, boycott EA sims community. Trust me they will be automatically forced to make a less buggy and good sims game in the future.
i assume its because in the sims 2 emotions are based on the action while in the sims 4 actions are based on emotions.
sounds dumb but let me explain, in sims 2 your sim only gets angry at specific events like beeing cheeted on, noticing someone they hate or seeing an object they repeatedly failed to repair (yes i had one sim who was activly mad at a stereo he got electrocuted from 3 sepret times, he only got mad while the object was broken)
in the sims 4 on the other hand emotions are basicly flags and what your sim does is based on whatever emotion is currently the strongest.
in normal gameplay the "happy" mood is usually dominating, wich is why its always overritten by some other positive emotions, but the negative ones barely stand a chance. so even something like beeing cheeted on wich schould give a huge negative moodlet barely puts a dent into their overall emotion and they continiu to be happy/flirty/energised ect.
Stereo rage is hilarious bro
Would explain why all the sims in 4 smile so much like it's the Trueman show or something
The only things I like about the sims 4 is the automatic bed making and washing their hands after using the bathroom.
Getting mad that they sold the tv when you have no money for food 😭
lol that is pretty sad. The more advance is less advance.
Sims 2 is king !
The Sims 4 has really bad animations while the animations in the Sims 2 are still the best in the series.
Sims 2 torches sims 4 for 11 minutes straight
10:30 when you deleted the TV they almost escaped the matrix because of the stress😂
i just love it, it shows how much care and attention went into the making of the sims 2, compared to how much of a mess the sims 4 is, even with its 82 packs its gameplay with sims 4 wont ever outshine how the gameplay in the sims 2 is, yes the sims 2 has its problems well mostly technical ones, but mods can help with that
As an autistic person, I find Sims2 sims the easiest to understand because they emote so much with their whole bodies as well as speech and facial expressions.
I support the sims 2... Every reaction is spectacular.
4:35
Sims 2 childs:😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😡😡😡😡😡😡
Sims 4 childs:😯😯😯😯😯😯😀😀😀😀😀😀😦😦😦😦😦😏😏😏😏😏
The Sims 2's characters are alive, while The Sims 4's ones are just dolls. 😢
That laugh after funeral or death literally a psycho 😂 6:55
Are there any mods that improve reactions in sims 4? This is ridiculous 😭
All these because Sims 4 originally have all the sims to be controlled by online players. That's why we got these reactionless characters 🙁
TS2>>>
I can tell
Whenever I cheat in the sims 4 I miss the bouncy sound effect from the sims 2 :(
I also get so annoyed with the sound effect that plays when a sim dies, breaks up or gets in a fight. It doesn't go with everything.
I think there will be comparisons of The Sims 2 vs InZOI soon
I think sims 2 wins🤩 and I don’t like “inzoi”😒
@@LianeCarina then it will be a surprise :)
I don't even know if my PC can handle it/has enough storage left for it 💀
@@Sitycims I play sims on laptop now so I’m 100% sure I can not😹
@@LianeCarina I think I'm in the same boat, my Asus laptop is a gaming one so it handles TS4 pretty smoothly but it's getting old (2016) so I think I'd definitely need a new one for Inzoi
the Happy emotion is the default emotion for the sims, that's the reason why they look so stupid and goofy.. the Fine emotion should have been the default emotion for sims.
I missed Ur videos sitycims....I'm glad u back
Thank you! Yeah got lowkey burnt out by the last video 💀💀
@@Sitycims i love Sims 4 but Ur videos are so creative and I enjoy watching them. I think u are good RUclipsr because you can convince ppl who have different opinions.
Make sure to zip the sims 4 pants up while your at it
It seems like Ea expected us to control every step of each sim to make it more believable, the only way it could have some realism is when I decided to turn off "full autonomy" in the settings, so at least I can't be bothered by stupid and nonsense attitudes by my sims.
and then full autonomy breaks a lot of normal game functions so we just can't win 😭
I find it interesting that Don Lothario didn’t slap Dina when he caught her “cheating”, but he reacted like shy?
