So, picture this- it's 2017 and 4 finally comes to Xbox. I purchase it at full price. I boot the game up, make a sim, place her in Daisy Hovel and begin to decorate. I hit Y on the controller to enter Create-A-Style because that's what it was in S3 Pets for console. My jaw dropped when it just deleted the couch. "The controls are just different, silly." And upon Googling my greatest fears were met. No open world, No Create-A-Style, No pools, just no, no no! Sims 2 and Sims 3 are truly much better games.
Same. I begged my dad to buy it when it first released on console and he paid full price for it 😭 I opened it once, played for an hour, and then never played it on console again.
You’re just like me then. I also waited years hoping it would come on console, paid 40€ for a game that is now free to purchase, got the cats and dogs expansion since that’s the one expansion I always played the sims with, and was so shocked to see that the pets were not playable despite taking a household spot. And ofc having to sit through a loading screen to go to a park next door… I really regret buying the game
@@hannah4588 I just play 3 and 2 now! They're so much better for vastly different reasons. I encourage you to do the same thing. This not even the worst thing! It’s when they reuse the same animations from previous packs then charge us full price for a “new pack” with the same reused animations 😢😭
10:30 I am SO GLAD YOU TALKED ABOUT THIS its something that always bothered me since they started doing it in the sims 3, and its what started the whole "imagine more than what you see" trend. in sims 2 every interaction had different animations it was so basic yet so frickin effective and immersive, i hate how TS4 tries to get away with giving "more social interactions" when its just the same damn aniamtion over and over again and lets you see that their current success today is due to marketing strategies and nothing with quality game
My friends saw me play Sims 2 and asked me why I don't just play the Sims 4, which they quote "It has better graphics and resolution". I told them that the Sims 2 gameplay immersion is far superior to Sims 4. B*itches replied and told me that I'm just broke as f. So I let them use my laptop and I boasted how I have all the expansion packs and some of the game packs with more than 100 mods, and yelled at them that even with all these it was never fun and that it can't compete with other Sims titles. Now they're using laptop to play the Sims 2...
Самое смешное, что графика в четвёрке ужасна. Детализация в симс 2 намного лучше, нежели чем в 4, да и в целом картинка выглядит приятно, не такой мыльной, а симы не походят на вечно улыбающихся болванчиков
The sims 4 is more detailed, especially when it comes to character customization, but i don't even think it looks that good. That's really just a personal opinion, but i don't like how hair and pretty much everything else looks like plastic or putty
I think you need to find a better friend if they call you broke just because you play an old game. Friendship shouldn't be a competition about who have more money. :I
Honestly i agree if i had to reccomend a game for someone new to sims id say sims 2 or sims 3 purely because both are better now one is better than the other but both better than 4 (despite sims 3 being incredibly laggy)
I remember I was so excited to play sims 4 for the first time, when it first came out when I was 14 and as soon as I got the game and 1. Saw that there was no open world (already disappointed) and 2. Even 14 year old me could tell something was off about the whole game and lack of immersiveness. I had no desire to play it even though I was an avid sims 2 and 3 player. But sims 4 was wrong from the start. Sims 4 completely put me off. I was so disappointed in it and still am.
I once suggested that it would be cool to have a Sims 4 pack that lets us create superhero Sims with special powers, but upon looking over things in this video, it seems we already have it - Sims can teleport things, magically open things, and just generally move things with their minds! 🤣
animations in ts4 are also much sillier sometimes, like when sims fall asleep on the floor they fall with their butt up... feels kinda inconsiderate, like it's not a living being who was so tired they couldn't stand, but a funny doll whose turmoil we're not supposed to take seriously
I can't take sims 4 seriously, I like the cartoon looks, but the animations are just too much, and they killed the romantic animations, which is a big part of a simulation game :/
The fact that there are loading screens with each terrain change and much simpler animations, could these be remnants of the multiplayer version that The Sims 4 was supposed to be? That would explain a lot about why the game is so different from the others. 🤔
It was. Hence all the limitations that they try to write off as "working on lower end computers". But of course, despite the rush to completely change it back into a main line sims game, EA clearly realized that they could make bank with the new lower quality cause its not like people didn't buy it or all the half baked expansion packs... And that's why the rush delivery product has been receiving new paid dlc for 10 years while all the other games had an active of time of like 4 years.
5:00 even though TS2 didnt have laptops, the ultra modern base game computer at LEAST also opens up slowly like an automatic laptop which is just even MORE embarrassing for ts4
amateurs modders have found a way to copy animations from sims 2/3 and put in sims 4, so if the offical dev team can't/won't create new animations, they could recycle it. Getting into the cars, picking objects, collecting bugs, holding each other on the bed... sims 3 and 4 have a lot of missing animations, and sims 5 will too, because for a online game somethings doesn't make sense to have, probably that's why so many animations are missing in sims 4
The sims has evolved or discovered how to use the force at lightning speed and they kept using it a lot which would make sense if we ever discovers how to use the force. Especially when Star Wars exists in the same universe which confirms the force is canon! Also they have instincts to perform magic tricks as well! Likely derived from natural selection for impressing their partners!
Love when people say they don’t mind the animations being reused or things just teleporting, as long as that means they’re using that extra time to make the gameplay better, but then all the pack comes out with is rabbit holes, bugs, glitches, and extremely little gameplay 😂 It’s sad, we didn’t have to make that compromise with the older games, we got amazing animations and tons of gameplay
I wouldn’t mind the teleporting as much if my sim didn’t just stand there and whims were canceled in the queue so I just end up cheating everything in the game for story reasons 😭
What gets me the most, is the utter lack of personality differences between sims -- I don't think traits really do much. For instance, a vegetarian sim will eat meat is you select it, but have a negative moodlet or feel ill, instead of being coded to refuse to eat sometimes outside their dietary preference / lifestyle. How hard is it to have the sim break the 4th wall by refusing, waving at you like: "wtf did you just try to make me do?!" The Sims 4 is lackluster and samey -- everywhere!!! They can give whatever excuses they want, but the game came out years ago, and nothing has improved. It just sad. I loved TS2 and TS3 -- sims felt alive and the games were immersive.
I wonder if it's less 'laziness' (which blames the devs) and more a ridiculous development schedule where the the devs are given unrealistic targets, suffered internal changes and flipflopping of decisions made by higher ups. In my experience of the games industry, the devs are usually trying to do their job well under pressure from bosses and publishers who don't understand why a development cycle takes time becausse their aim is money as quickly as possible. Also, I really want a cheese toastie now.
I watched this video in the middle of loading my sims 4 game and immediately closed it out before it even got finished loading so that I could continue downloading sims 2 cc😂
I've been learning how to animate using Blender, and I swear I've made animations that look better than the majority of 4's, and I barely understand animation. It's like they're allergic to polishing or not using the step interpolation mode or something.
actually kinda embarrassing to play the sims 4 but the mods are good and new Oh yeah the sims 4 has presets better slider functionality that's one of the good things it has over the others
yea. Body Sliders. I love TS2 to death since it's my first sims game. but the lack of them in TS2 and TS3 does hurt alot. because sooner or later...sims really start to look samey, or like the same body but different heads.
I've discovered The Sims 1 when it came out, a true new way of games, and after The Sims 2 (and this was a complete masterpiece and revolution), and The Sims 3 (still a great game, even if it's not perfect and buggy sometimes). But The Sims 4 ... I mean I'm playing the game a lot, but to be honest it's only because the sims are really gorgeous and the mods you can download are so cool. Playing The Sims 4 and always thinking about how the previous games was so much better and polish, it means a lot of things.
I don't understand... Sims 2 and 3 have the exact same animations (in most cases) cause they obviously re-utilized their own work... why couldn't they do the same for Sims 4 if they were THAT lazy?? I don't get it...
The Sims 2 lacks in customization, but it's so fun to play with. I've played neighborhoods for many generations and never got bored. In TS4 I spend hours creating sims and their homes and after a couple of hours playing them I never get back to them and always end up deleting everything. I just can't play TS4.
as a sims 2 girly, sims 4 never said anything to me because sims 2 was perfect. i still play it to this day from time to time. the few times i played sims 4 i always compared it and i just never liked 4.
8:04 as much as i prefer the more detailed animations, it’s restricting. handles must be at the same place and the same height across all drawers and wardrobes, if you want the hands to connect. otherwise they have to make unique animations for every individual items
Yup, was playing TS2 Ultimate Collection on my HP laptop earlier today and I agree, the animations are better. Previously owned The Sims 2 and stuff packs and expansions n CD and then redeemed my serial numbers on Origin back in 2014 as The Sims 2 CDs had DRM which is incompatible with recent versions of Windows.
The Sims 2 was a passion project. Were the Sims 4 only exists to make money The fact that in the sims 2, there are custom animations for Sims of different ages, different personalities, and even when Sims unlock special abilities. It just shows how much LOVE and attention to detail was put into the game. Sims 4 will release an expansion that doesn't work properly only to guaranteed sells, and won’t even release a patch to fix it. The Sims 2 had every expansion consider all previous content and be sure all new and old content interacted properly with each other.
The thing is, they can't even say they simplified animations to allow other aspects of gameplay to be more intricate because EVERYTHING was worse in TS4 than previous generations. There was no other reason than laziness. And I have no hope at all for Sims 5 to be any better
No open world, no color wheel or Create A Style, low-poly cartoony art style, didn't even have pools or basements on launch... where is all of the power going? Why does a game designed to cut so many corners take up so much memory and take so long to load? Is it really coded that poorly? Sims 2 Ultimate Edition takes less time to load up a new game than base Sims 4. Even my modded Sims 3 with all the expansions only takes a couple minutes to load up and then there's no more loading screens because it's open world. Just what is going on in that code??
I Know people may not like this. but one of the Few things TS4 does better is of course the fact bodies are much more versatile in construction compared to TS2, I LOVE TS2 to death as It was my first Sims Game. but the lack of body sliders in TS2 and TS3 has not aged that well. if TS2 had the capability to mod the sliders and morphs in. it would be Amazing, (even simple sliders, hell TS2 on CONSOLE did have basic sliders)
a lot of clutter items are huge too! like the pencil holder-put it next to a sim and they wouldn't even be able to hold it! there's no consistency to the sims 4
TS2 will forever be my favorite sims, having played them all and the ps2 version too. I understand TS4 had to cut some things out such as the open world mechanism from TS3. But never should a life simulation game ever cut down the actual gameplay aspect and animations from their development. TS4 has really nice customization and building mechanics, but that's honestly all I enjoy about it. And it's honestly unplayable to me without a dozen expansion packs that are after 10 years, way too expensive. I downloaded the ultimate collection of TS2 and while I do hate that it crashes every 10 minutes and ends up not saving anything if I don't hit save every 5, I enjoy it a lot more than current TS4. Obviously nostalgia is a huge factor and I'm just in love with TS2 cutscenes and overall gameplay that probably not even an improved version of TS4 (TS5) could ever top it. Thanks for this video btw!
Makes me think the devs just did not have as much experience as the masters in animations and rigging from sims 2. Makes me think like the ones that worked on the sims 4 just didn’t have the experience t archive what the veterans managed for sims 2
@ 6:10 To be fair, some sinks are automatic. We have automatic sinks that turn on by themselves at work (they're kind of annoying sometimes because you can walk past and it turns on, but when you put your hands directly under the faucet it won't 🙄), but it still exists.🤷♀️ The rest of these are valid.
Spelling out the part that I was beginning to suspect was off, but couldn't quite put to words. Far Cry games have also suffered from animation downgrades. In 3, it takes forever to skin an animal! In 4, it goes a little quicker. In 5, the animal magically is sliced open if you hold a button down too long, and then the meat magically teleports to your inventory. Same in New Dawn. But in 6? You simply walk into the animal, and its meat is already magically in your inventory!
some people will say it's to "save time" but if you put the animations side by side, they either take about the same amount of time or the sims 4 takes longer (like the sink animation)
Some issues are because not all cheats are turned off when the game is restarted. For example "testingcheats" is always on unless specifically set to "off".
The Sims 4 made me re-install older version from 1 to 3... I enjoyed only Gardening in TS4 and some say you can play it as a cozy farming game and nothing more...
Even The Sims 1 didn't have the object teleportation. The graphics were a mix of 3d and 2d, tiny as heck on our old desktop screens, but the Sims still actually extended their arm to put/grab an object from the table or floor. It's embarrassing for the later games to cut corners "for efficiency™".
I mean, I can excuse keeping the laptop open cause it’s better to not open and close it every time, as it damages the screen cables over time (something that my dad drilled into my brain when I was a kid and my sis and me got the first nintendo DS consoles lol) But oh my GOD, at some of these (not) animations I genuinely wonder if there are professionals at work. My best friend since 10+ years got her degree as game designer and she’s been working on her own horse game for ages, so I understand the major struggle with animating, but it honestly feels like they only half a$$ed most of the animations in sims 4 and then called it a day and never returned to it. As in “as long as the game doesn’t crash, it’s fine”. Not that they give a damn nowadays if certain things cause the game to crash or simply don’t even work anyways 🤦🏻♀️ My first sims game was the sims 2 pet stories, which you didn’t need the base game for, it was all in one package, and not even there did they cut corners or anything. I’m fairly sure I have the full base game in that ‘pack’ (I don’t know what to call it lol) and I loved the animations and level of detail. Even though I was often annoyed at having to constantly make sure the fridge was still stocked so my sims didn’t starve, the animation of the guy bringing you the groceries was so wholesome to me that it made it worth it.
There are things I really like about the Sims 4. That's why I still play with it. But it's so sad and frustrating, that we can't have the amazing game that we were supposed to have.
In Sims 2 the objects still teleport to our sims hands, the difference is into making it less óbvious. In Sims 4 they lay things on surfaces from far away, In sims 2 they get so close to the surface that it doesn't seem like its teleporting.
I love your videos lol it makes me really disappointed in the sims but I do want to say the second to last object you showed wasn’t a candle it’s a incense that’s why it smokes and shows burning red 11:28
All these little things and much more make Sims 2 the best game by far. It just needs open world and a graphics and UI update and it’s ultimate perfection.

I stopped wasting money on 4 about two years ago (yes, I still wasted money on it for so many years before giving up, haha) Sims 4 is just not as good as its predecessors, imo.
i will never get over the sims 4 coming out without pools when even the sims 1 had them
This not even the worst thing! It’s when they reuse the same animations from previous packs then charge us full price for a “new pack” with the same reused animations 😢😭
This guys is exposing the sims 4 development so much, and i love that!.
👏 AND 👏 I'M 👏 NOT 👏 DONE! 👏
guy*. Is just one, i didn't wanna lose the ❤️
Me too ❤
Remember guys, if EA takes this down its canon
@@Sitycims Give pain, but dont give mercy :3
10:30 I am SO GLAD YOU TALKED ABOUT THIS its something that always bothered me since they started doing it in the sims 3, and its what started the whole "imagine more than what you see" trend. in sims 2 every interaction had different animations it was so basic yet so frickin effective and immersive, i hate how TS4 tries to get away with giving "more social interactions" when its just the same damn aniamtion over and over again and lets you see that their current success today is due to marketing strategies and nothing with quality game
not to mention animations being different based on if they're shy or not
Another thing I noticed is that sims 4 is ridiculously bright.
Compare base game yellow clothes in all sims games, which ones can you hardly look at?
I been saying thiss! Like it genuinely hurts my eyes bro
Granted, the animations of Sims 2 aren’t perfect. But it made the game more realistic.
Sims 2 was made with love and care, Sims 4 is a money grab
yeah an animation where the wrench is slightly misaligned with the faucet is absolutely perfect compared to NO animation whatsoever.
"next generation of the sims" audio always makes me laugh
@@fruma3073facts!
The sims 4 is more detailed, especially when it comes to character customization, but i don't even think it looks that good. That's really just a personal opinion, but i don't like how hair and pretty much everything else looks like plastic or putty
@@blueghost4769 Sims 4 looks smudged
I think you need to find a better friend if they call you broke just because you play an old game. Friendship shouldn't be a competition about who have more money. :I
That's why The Sims 2 will always be the best game
Old is gold 🥇
Honestly i agree if i had to reccomend a game for someone new to sims id say sims 2 or sims 3 purely because both are better now one is better than the other but both better than 4 (despite sims 3 being incredibly laggy)
@@456loveluckbut why cant i sell my gramma
It’s the little details that make the difference. It’s why Sims 2 is still amazing even after all these years.
I was so disappointed in it and still am.
they could've reused sims 2 animations like bruh...
I once suggested that it would be cool to have a Sims 4 pack that lets us create superhero Sims with special powers, but upon looking over things in this video, it seems we already have it - Sims can teleport things, magically open things, and just generally move things with their minds! 🤣
I agree 🤣
0:51 LMAO YOU DIDN'T-
😂😂
animations in ts4 are also much sillier sometimes, like when sims fall asleep on the floor they fall with their butt up... feels kinda inconsiderate, like it's not a living being who was so tired they couldn't stand, but a funny doll whose turmoil we're not supposed to take seriously
I can't take sims 4 seriously, I like the cartoon looks, but the animations are just too much, and they killed the romantic animations, which is a big part of a simulation game :/
@@laissa936 for real, its too silly!
The fact that there are loading screens with each terrain change and much simpler animations, could these be remnants of the multiplayer version that The Sims 4 was supposed to be? That would explain a lot about why the game is so different from the others. 🤔
Yup the engine was designed to be semi open world because of multiplayer.
OMG...all these years I thought the reason why I had incomplete animations in sims 4 was because my computer was slow 😭🤣🤣🤣
5:00 even though TS2 didnt have laptops, the ultra modern base game computer at LEAST also opens up slowly like an automatic laptop which is just even MORE embarrassing for ts4
Sims 4 is so embarrassingly bad 😭 the ✨next generation of the Sims✨ audio is killing me
The swiping is actually insane 😭😭
8:27 honestly i’m surprised they grab the letter rather than just teleport it to their inventory
Soon the sims 4 are gonna release a new pack: the advanced animations pack!
i'd love to see a video comparing the sims 3 too 😍
S2 vs S3 or S3 vs S4 ?
Someone really cared about making Sims2. They just slap something together for sims4. 😂
And they are still doing that as of currently.
Seriously.
amateurs modders have found a way to copy animations from sims 2/3 and put in sims 4, so if the offical dev team can't/won't create new animations, they could recycle it. Getting into the cars, picking objects, collecting bugs, holding each other on the bed... sims 3 and 4 have a lot of missing animations, and sims 5 will too, because for a online game somethings doesn't make sense to have, probably that's why so many animations are missing in sims 4
i feel bad for anyone with a legal copy of this game and all its packs, yah stay ballin and safe out here
We need someone but EA remaster TS 2 with new content
Well it kind of is being remastered... by lazyDutches. It's still a long way off though.
LMAO the reaction memes throughout the video towards the sims 4 had me cackling 💀
Sims 2 👑
Next generation of the sims: Wingardium Leviosa!
The swipe animation is abused so much that I’m surprised when I _don’t_ see it
Love when people say they don’t mind the animations being reused or things just teleporting, as long as that means they’re using that extra time to make the gameplay better, but then all the pack comes out with is rabbit holes, bugs, glitches, and extremely little gameplay 😂 It’s sad, we didn’t have to make that compromise with the older games, we got amazing animations and tons of gameplay
I wouldn’t mind the teleporting as much if my sim didn’t just stand there and whims were canceled in the queue so I just end up cheating everything in the game for story reasons 😭
At least with Sims 3 we knew that to be the case XD
Also, I really want a cheese toastie now.
sims 4 hands aren’t even in the same zip code of the objects they’re interacting with
I watched this video in the middle of loading my sims 4 game and immediately closed it out before it even got finished loading so that I could continue downloading sims 2 cc😂
this is why I still playing sims 2
I've been learning how to animate using Blender, and I swear I've made animations that look better than the majority of 4's, and I barely understand animation.
It's like they're allergic to polishing or not using the step interpolation mode or something.
Awww I miss TS2. On the other hand, the editing for this video? Chef’s kiss
I'm excited to introduce you to the next generation of The Sims...
actually kinda embarrassing to play the sims 4 but the mods are good and new
Oh yeah the sims 4 has presets better slider functionality that's one of the good things it has over the others
Sims in the Sims 4 use the force to grab objects
The Sims 2 lacks in customization, but it's so fun to play with. I've played neighborhoods for many generations and never got bored. In TS4 I spend hours creating sims and their homes and after a couple of hours playing them I never get back to them and always end up deleting everything. I just can't play TS4.
you make me want to go back to playing the sims 2 and 3 again. I didn't realize how bad it is
as a sims 2 girly, sims 4 never said anything to me because sims 2 was perfect. i still play it to this day from time to time. the few times i played sims 4 i always compared it and i just never liked 4.
8:04 as much as i prefer the more detailed animations, it’s restricting. handles must be at the same place and the same height across all drawers and wardrobes, if you want the hands to connect. otherwise they have to make unique animations for every individual items
TS2 managed it just fine, as well as modders. If I pay over 1000 Euros for the game, they should animate it properly
I play the Sims 2 on CD on Windows 10. You just need a simple fix for that.
The Sims 2 was a passion project. Were the Sims 4 only exists to make money
The fact that in the sims 2, there are custom animations for Sims of different ages, different personalities, and even when Sims unlock special abilities.
This "next generation of the Sims" voiceover is effing killing me. Well done, you're the head of the Petty University and I aspire to be like you
Because Sims 2 was a passion project made with love, and Sims 4 is corporate greed project
The memes get me every time 😭😭
I Know people may not like this. but one of the Few things TS4 does better is of course the fact bodies are much more versatile in construction compared to TS2, I LOVE TS2 to death as It was my first Sims Game. but the lack of body sliders in TS2 and TS3 has not aged that well. if TS2 had the capability to mod the sliders and morphs in. it would be Amazing, (even simple sliders, hell TS2 on CONSOLE did have basic sliders)
is it me or The Sims 2 pizza always makes you craving for pizza 😂😂
The reactions using memes and sound fx makes this even funnier 😂😂😂
Sims 2 is hands down still my fav. I tried to love 3 but I knew 4 would disappoint me lol
Your editing cracks me up every time!
Ojalá algún día remastericen Los Sims 2 con mejores gráficos y progresión de la historia. Sería el juego perfecto.
One is made with love, the other is just lazy
Also why are some objects in sims 4 to small (cutting boards, laptops) and others too big?!
Have you stolen the list of future videos in my notes? 🤔
The ungodly large dollhouse comes to mind. Also the huge microscope and observatory.
a lot of clutter items are huge too! like the pencil holder-put it next to a sim and they wouldn't even be able to hold it! there's no consistency to the sims 4
The arcade game is too big for a house and extremely LOUD. Why couldn't they also add a single arcade version?
@@lirpa2300 ugh yes... whatever happened to the single player arcade machine in Sims 1, 2 and 3?
LMAOOOO THE METEORITE DEATH FALL!! Just engulfed in flames and just oofs on the ground XDDDD Sims 4 makes me laugh with how stupid it looks
Bro Sims 4 is like a goofy ahh meme compilation wtf😭 How is this even an actual game??
9:53 "These are not the droids you are looking for".
I love these comparison videos, EA do better or you won’t see another cent
some people will say it's to "save time" but if you put the animations side by side, they either take about the same amount of time or the sims 4 takes longer (like the sink animation)
11:31 That "Candle" is actually an incense and it is animating correctly, Incense burns the same way a cigarette does.
There's no "sim lighting the candle" animation, that's what I meant
this editing reminds me of overdramatic soap operas, i genuinely love it
Some issues are because not all cheats are turned off when the game is restarted. For example "testingcheats" is always on unless specifically set to "off".
this doesn't affect a single thing shown in this video
I agree with all of these with one exception because incense don’t burn like candles though they could have animated it better no lie. 😅
I want sims 1 horror and weirdness, sims 2's neat animations and stories, sims 3 traveling, and sims 4 graphics and facilities.
I mean, I can excuse keeping the laptop open cause it’s better to not open and close it every time, as it damages the screen cables over time (something that my dad drilled into my brain when I was a kid and my sis and me got the first nintendo DS consoles lol)
But oh my GOD, at some of these (not) animations I genuinely wonder if there are professionals at work.
Not that they give a damn nowadays if certain things cause the game to crash or simply don’t even work anyways 🤦🏻♀️
My first sims game was the sims 2 pet stories, which you didn’t need the base game for, it was all in one package, and not even there did they cut corners or anything.
The thing I don't understand is : I see a lot of TS2 animation reused in TS4. Why not reuse all of them ? (at least the ones that worked well)
