I actually signed up for a computer building course so I could build myself my first computer to make sure I’d get to play it. I made sure my project was completed before the game was released and I successfully completed my mission. I remember how hyped I was, I’ll never forget this Trailer it’s the one Trailer that stands out for me. I played Sims 2 to death. 😢🎉❤

I don't know about realistic graphics. People with lower end computers wouldn't be able to run it well, and I'm pretty sure most people that play the Sims don't really have a big beastly computer. That and the Sims was always at least somewhat stylized in its graphics.
I remember when this was packaged with the The Sims: Making Magic CDs (the final expansion pack of the original series) and you could watch it from the launcher. I was ten at the time and I was obsessed with watching this trailer over and over because I was so excited for TS2 but, my god, I had to work SO HARD to keep it hidden from my mom!

We were too young and naive to realize that we had it all back then... Remember when each expansion came with so many different gameplay possibilities, and things that didn't even correlate for the most part? We got apartments with witches, downtowns with vampires and cars and dining, universities with zombies. Nowadays we get a game pack for each individual thing. At this point Sims 5 should just be a remake of Sims 2.
I prefer Sims 2, but I think it was a bigger step from 2 to 3- Sims 2 only really introduced aging and better graphics. Sims 3 had an open world and a color wheel, pattern customization, buffs, quests (I can’t remember what they’re called in the game in English- opportunities?), they replaced personality points with traits, they massively improved the graphics (if you ignore how ugly the Sims look), they had items you could collect in the open world.. I am actually 99% sure they tried to mimic World of Warcraft in the Sims 3, which was the most popular game at the time. So they added things to the game that were not a part of it before.
I miss this era of the sims. Probably the most fun and unpredictable. The sims just seemed so much more real and edgier. I put in half my teen life into that game 😂

yeah, I started playing the sims when i was around 5-7 (I'm 13) and my dad got me the sims 3 pets for my bday and I dont remember hardly anything but I have this distinct memory of my sims having a pet bird and then the house burned down somehow and my sims died. I then started crying and freaking out (I got scared) when I saw the grim reaper LMAOAOAOAAOO ik this barely relates to he comment, but still. I also remember getting scared and crying when some robber dude snuck to my house and just casually vacuumed my stuff from the front yard. It happened so much to me that I would literally build walls around my whole entire house and just build a door when my sims had to leave and then delete the door after. Soon after that I for some reason got rid of the walls and I would always get horses. At one point I moved neighborhoods from my usual house and used another. I would always just breed my dogs to the maximum. All of my game play involved pets (at least, that I remember). Sorry for rambling on lmaooooo

I'm still playing this, and one of my newest families is as crazy as this one. I created a girl, who married a good man, they had a son and when the boy was still a toddler, my girl burned to death on her own. The father, all sad, fell in love with one of his lady friends. Got married again and decided to have more children because he loves having babies non stop (he wants 10 babies now, and the neighborhood is pretty empty). Well, they had TWINS, both girls and none of them matching the mother's dark skin color (I didn't know where to put two more babies...I was expecting only one!). Now the girls are a pair of crazy children, the son is a teen with his own needs, the father has a good job, the mother is bored and you know what they both want? MORE BABIES!!! Oh, and they have a dog. The dog is cute tho....and the poor thing has to cope with so many kids.
M For Short The first kid went to the university, and then grew up and got married. Guess what. he got twins. My God that family made the entire neighborhood on their own. The twin daughters stayed as teenagers before I had to reinstall the game. However, now I have a family which I started with a girl, who wanted to have tons of lovers, but had very bad luck. She worked very hard, and she finally had her lover (another girl) and her dream job. Right before she could ask her lover to marry her....she burned to death (this is starting to be a theme in my Sims 2). So i put another girl in there, this one more serious and wanting money. She married a good guy, but then I got another family in another house. That second family had both parents the twins thingie you get with wish points, well, they had ONE child. The serious woman didn't have that twin thingie, neither her husband, guess what. TWINS! So now, the first family is doing well, the twin girl is happy. the twin boy is miserable, the father is just there (I could put a statue and would have been the same), the mother is making money. Good times. The second family, almost all of them are sad, don't know why, but the son is doing good.
This is what's missing form Sims now: The wacky yet foreboding nature of the game was what made it fun for both kids and adults. They removed so much of what made the series unique leaving Sims 4 feeling bland when it came out
I wasn't allowed to because she didn't want me to mess up her families, then she got Sims 3 and gave all of the expansion packs up to seasons to me, then i bought the rest a couple months ago, best game ever.

Actually, this trailer was only to show that now Sims, instead of being adults or childen forever, they grow up, and the next generations keep coming. That was a very new feature in the Sims 2, since in the Sims 1, a kid was always a kid and an adult was always an adult, and genetics didn't exist.
Dominique Neko well, one thing that freaked me out was when a sim had just gave birth, she was holding her baby & the grandad came up, twisted her arm, & took the baby from her. Her arm was barely hanging onto her body after that.

I was so amazed when I saw this trailer back then, with the song of Devo (Recombo DNA)! I really thought everything was possible in The Sims 2, and it was the very reason why I wanted a more powerful computer, so I could witness some unruly Sims kids burning newspapers in a messy house full of toys! At last, the final build of the game was nothing like this pre-rendered trailer, but still awesomely good!
Kind of like how The Sims 4 promised a lot in its trailers, and we got less than half of what was promised, and what we did get was buggy, and still is to this day. Sims 2 > Sims 4.
As a Sims 3 player, I wish I was born earlier to feel the joy and love of the Sims 2 as you, older Sims fans, has. Playing from The Sims 3 to Sims 2 feels harder to play because of the absent of moodlets, complex sim preferences, and keeping up with the sim needs altogether.
Same, they look more realistic yet at the same time still have a cartoonish look that just works so perfect. They were the prettiest sims of all the titles in my opinion too, Sims 3 look ugly and Sims 4 are waaaay too cartoony, and not in a good way. Idk why everyone is so hung up on TS4 graphics, they're not bad exactly, but they're really not that spectacular.

The sims 3 store sells worlds for 35 dollars, just worlds with some fluff for "gold content". So come on now, stop acting like sims 3 is the pinnacle. Many sims 2 players were disappointed with the hot memory leak mess. Not to mention we had to buy late night to even get pianos and hot tubs! yeah, I started playing the sims when i was around 5-7 (I'm 13) and my dad got me the sims 3 pets for my bday and I dont remember hardly anything but I have this distinct memory of my sims having a pet bird and then the house burned down somehow and my sims died. I then started crying and freaking out (I got scared) when I saw the grim reaper LMAOAOAOAAOO ik this barely relates to he comment, but still. I also remember getting scared and crying when some robber dude snuck to my house and just casually vacuumed my stuff from the front yard. It happened so much to me that I would literally build walls around my whole entire house and just build a door when my sims had to leave and then delete the door after. Soon after that I for some reason got rid of the walls and I would always get horses. At one point I moved neighborhoods from my usual house and used another. I would always just breed my dogs to the maximum. All of my game play involved pets (at least, that I remember). Sorry for rambling on lmaooooo

I’ll never forget the excitement of openiny the Sims 2 on Christmas when I was 12 (?) years old. My parents also got me the expansion packs, Sims 2 Univeristy and Sims 2 nightlife. Hands down the best expansion packs that exist

I'm still playing this, and one of my newest families is as crazy as this one. I created a girl, who married a good man, they had a son and when the boy was still a toddler, my girl burned to death on her own. The father, all sad, fell in love with one of his lady friends. Got married again and decided to have more children because he loves having babies non stop (he wants 10 babies now, and the neighborhood is pretty empty). Well, they had TWINS, both girls and none of them matching the mother's dark skin color (I didn't know where to put two more babies...I was expecting only one!).
Now the girls are a pair of crazy children, the son is a teen with his own needs, the father has a good job, the mother is bored and you know what they both want? MORE BABIES!!!
Oh, and they have a dog. The dog is cute tho....and the poor thing has to cope with so many kids.

M For Short The first kid went to the university, and then grew up and got married. Guess what. he got twins. My God that family made the entire neighborhood on their own.
The twin daughters stayed as teenagers before I had to reinstall the game.
However, now I have a family which I started with a girl, who wanted to have tons of lovers, but had very bad luck. She worked very hard, and she finally had her lover (another girl) and her dream job. Right before she could ask her lover to marry her....she burned to death (this is starting to be a theme in my Sims 2). So i put another girl in there, this one more serious and wanting money. She married a good guy, but then I got another family in another house.
That second family had both parents the twins thingie you get with wish points, well, they had ONE child.
The serious woman didn't have that twin thingie, neither her husband, guess what. TWINS!
So now, the first family is doing well, the twin girl is happy. the twin boy is miserable, the father is just there (I could put a statue and would have been the same), the mother is making money. Good times.
The second family, almost all of them are sad, don't know why, but the son is doing good.

This is what's missing form Sims now: The wacky yet foreboding nature of the game was what made it fun for both kids and adults. They removed so much of what made the series unique leaving Sims 4 feeling bland when it came out

I wasn't allowed to because she didn't want me to mess up her families, then she got Sims 3 and gave all of the expansion packs up to seasons to me, then i bought the rest a couple months ago, best game ever.

Actually, this trailer was only to show that now Sims, instead of being adults or childen forever, they grow up, and the next generations keep coming.
That was a very new feature in the Sims 2, since in the Sims 1, a kid was always a kid and an adult was always an adult, and genetics didn't exist.

Dominique Neko well, one thing that freaked me out was when a sim had just gave birth, she was holding her baby & the grandad came up, twisted her arm, & took the baby from her. Her arm was barely hanging onto her body after that.

Everytime I heard it, I always correlate it with the goodness and fun beyond. The intro also appeared in need for speed underground series, and many of EA's golden era games. Good times.

I was so amazed when I saw this trailer back then, with the song of Devo (Recombo DNA)! I really thought everything was possible in The Sims 2, and it was the very reason why I wanted a more powerful computer, so I could witness some unruly Sims kids burning newspapers in a messy house full of toys!
At last, the final build of the game was nothing like this pre-rendered trailer, but still awesomely good!
Kind of like how The Sims 4 promised a lot in its trailers, and we got less than half of what was promised, and what we did get was buggy, and still is to this day.
Sims 2 > Sims 4.
What's also funny is that the lead vocalist, Marks Mothersbaugh, produced the entire soundtrack for the Sims 2.
As a Sims 3 player, I wish I was born earlier to feel the joy and love of the Sims 2 as you, older Sims fans, has. Playing from The Sims 3 to Sims 2 feels harder to play because of the absent of moodlets, complex sim preferences, and keeping up with the sim needs altogether.

Same, they look more realistic yet at the same time still have a cartoonish look that just works so perfect. They were the prettiest sims of all the titles in my opinion too, Sims 3 look ugly and Sims 4 are waaaay too cartoony, and not in a good way. Idk why everyone is so hung up on TS4 graphics, they're not bad exactly, but they're really not that spectacular.

I mean, Sims 4 did just release a pack for $10 that just adds plain-ass laundry to the game with very little else, which was just a tiny part of Ambitions when it was released in the Sims 3...
The sims 3 store sells worlds for 35 dollars, just worlds with some fluff for "gold content".
So come on now, stop acting like sims 3 is the pinnacle. Many sims 2 players were disappointed with the hot memory leak mess. Not to mention we had to buy late night to even get pianos and hot tubs! Now all of a sudden people are romanticizing it after so much forum rage.
