      I have two more coming and some ti scales. I do prefer a knife with weight, so I can't wait to give it the proper treatment.

    I just got an Eklipse Swedged Spear Point Magnacut blade blue G10 blue anodized... my blue wore off and it's mow more of a grey. There was a powdery blue substance on it and it just rubbed off, no pun intended. It had some initial issues but we're getting along fine now. Really bad lock stick and two stand off screws came right out, luckily in my pocket. But since break in there's no more lock stick and I also loc tighted the screws, so... all in all, I love it!!! I'm planning on doing a video on it. Just haven't gotten around to it yet!!!

      Was it the battle blue or the stonewashed blue? I'm surprised you had lock stick because there is a steel lock bar insert. Usually it's a titanium lockbar on the steel blade tang that sticks. But typically that stick is just when it's new.

      @@appalachianadvrider Yeppir, lock stick went away after some use. I'm still not really happy with the anodizing for the price we're paying... unless it's just that titanium is harder to anodize??! IDK... but it wore right off in spots... I got the battle blue!!! Wanted Bronze & FDE... it was unattainium!!!! Couldn't even get through check out with it and it was telling me, quantity requested is unavailable. So, I'm glad to have gotten any... I had an XM-18 Harpoon Spanto in my cart last drop and I chickened out and didn't go through with it. And NOW, I'm glad I didn't. I believe this Eklipse is a better knife for me... I'm not saying anything bad about the XM-18 but this swedged spear point in Magnacut will be virtually indestructible. And I really like the double choil and top thumb ramp. I can get a grip further back on the second choil and do some swinging cuts with it really held locked in. Like my Spyderco Manix 2 XL... That Manix knife really found a good home with me.

      @@Torqd_Off I agree that their anodization is spotty/ uneven. My stonewashed blue had different levels of "blueness" if that's even a word. And I agree with you that the Eklipse is a slightly better overall design, leaving the blade shape and material out of this conversation for students he's sake, and those things can be changed. But the overall form factor of the Eklipse is better in my opinion. I do believe Rick Hinderer created the eclipse to sort of replace the XM-18. Replace might be the wrong word, but the Eklipse was like the evolution of the XM 18, though it never did replace it

    If only the Eklipse wharnie had the front blade choil of the XM-18 wharnie, it would be absolutely perfect in my book.

      Hinderer makes so many variations of all their knives that maybe he will get around to it? The upside is that without the choil there is more blade length? Lol.

    Do the tips feel frigile at all or is there a good swedge behind it

    • @appalachianadvrider
      @appalachianadvrider  8 месяцев назад +1

      If you get the fatty blade stock, the tip is robust. But these normal blade stock thicknesses are thin at the tip. It makes it a great slicer, but I wouldn't go buck wild on it.
