I just got my 0562ti out of the mail box about an hour ago and after some light oil am sitting at the kitchen table starting the break-in process. For me this is going to be a terrific knife, and will do everything that I ask of it. Deer season starts a couple of days from now, and this knife is going to get put to work right away. If I had spent the money to get a Hinderer, I would be reluctant to get it dirty like that right away. That is if I could even get one in the first place. After placing the order, I was tempted to replace the screws and pivot with something other than black, but this thing looks just fine the way it is and I`m not going to mess with it. Just use it, clean it, oil it, repeat. I enjoy your channel, thanks. Another Kansas guy.
I was having the same dilemma, should I buy a XM-18 even though I already have a ZT 0562cf? After buying my first Hinderer Eklipse 3.5 harpoon tanto, I realized the difference in quality. It became even easier to buy the XM-18 when I saw the new tri-way pivot w/harpoon spanto blade & bronze frame. This is a very different knife from the ZT 0562 slicer. I was lucky to get one of the limited supplie of Hinderer on layaway at BHQ. I don't have much money but their layaway has enabled me to pick up a very respectable collection. Love these shoot out shows, thanks for the great content.

I made the mistake and went internet shopping for the XM18 and fell in love with the DLC coated blue scale no choil slicer. At $465 it would 2.5x more then my current most expensive knife and more then a couple guns I have. 😢
Same here man, but i bit the bullet... and guess what, i spent alot more than you would have (540 bucks with tax....) But you know what they say : Boys never grow up , their toys just get more expensive...
Do you use a left hand 0562? Curious because I'm left handed and bought one which is righty (I have a lot of righty knives but non of the price and all which I tried in store before I decided). Just curious how you like it either way?

Biggest thing I notice, personally, is that the detent ball would be much easier to replace yourself on the xm-18. Really looking at way down the road kinda stuff there but I tend to think about that. I don’t like the ZT presses a detent ball into the frame without a hole going all the way through. That’s something I think should be standardized in the industry.
I just wanted to say thank you. I bought my first Hinderer the XM-18 3.5. I did a lot of research after you continued to relentlessly talk about Hinderer LOL. It meets all my expectations and then some. I absolutely love it. Thanks again.

I have the 0562 in g10 and elmax, was $200. And an xm-18 gen 6, 3.5 inch slicer with choil. $425. Happy with both. But unlike you MC, Hinderer didn't blow my socks off. I'll probably buy another one at some point but I'm not compelled. Now when I got my first crk, a large sebenza, within a couple of months I had an umnumzaan and an inkosi. So for me, crk outshines Hinderer.
Ok I’m very very late to the convo but I’m thinking. I’m buying the ZT. Because I will use it. The XM18 I would have as a collectors piece and would very seldom use. So I’m buying both and for those reasons.
This was a fun comparison video MC. Your enthusiasm is great. The xm-18 3.5 is definitely better in my opinion. I’d love to see more comparison vids from you.
Just got my first Hinderer today. XM-18 3.5" sheepsfoot in working finish. It's amazing. Favorite folder by far. I'll say Hinderer all day. I sold my 0562 a long time ago. It was okay but had a super weak lock. I'll never buy a ZT again. I'll definitely buy more Hinderers.
Welp... I have an 0562Ti arriving tomorrow, and I was totally cool with it. Now I'm convinced that I'm doomed to follow your path, MC. I have a feeling I may be selling off a small handful of my beloved Spydies and Microtechs in order to satisfy my Hinderer curiosity. Great review, man.
I have the G10/Elmax. Three things gave it the win for me. Price (200.00 when I bought mine), the pocket clip is one of my favorites and the action was better at the time.
They are both good buys, the ZT because it’s a great knife cheap, the Hinderer because you get maximum quality for a reasonable price. I am happy with both of my examples of these knives!
When you did your livestream the other day (face cam), these 2 were next to each other and I was thinking, I'd like to see a comparison/battle between these 2. Great video as always MC.
I've been on the very edge of being a hinderer fan for years and years, but the Gen 4 models that we were stuck with forever were just simply not worth the money. I had a couple of different gen 4s and I tried really hard to like them, but they ended up getting the boot. Fit and finish did not at all match the price tag. Gen 6 Hinderers are not at all the same knives. I have one in my hand, and I barely believe that its from the same company as the gen 4s I had. So thats my personal take. The gen 4s never earned the price tag, and I applaud Rick and the team for sticking with a design that sold fine before with numerous issues, and transforming it into something that competes with anything else on the market today.
Having owned the 0562ti and a non flipper, I still think the 0562ti is better. The ergos feel so much better. The contouring is just better, no question. Considering you need to spend another $200 for a titanium scale for the xm18 and it's still not contoured like the 0562? No thanks. Nit-picks are not worth $200+ dollar difference. If the XM with titanium was $350 then I'd say for sure its better. A proprietary tool with the tri way system that costs $80 is also a major detractor. I could buy an s35vn Elementum for the price of a tool I shouldn't need in the first place. The price tag just screams gucci knife to me. Still actually love them both. The non flipper is still the GOAT
A spanner bit (or notch cut in a penny) isn't something that's difficult to buy/make. I tend to throw that argument out the window immediately. Everything else is perspective. We all have unique value systems.
@@metal_complex I would agree if the tri way wasnt designed/marketed such that you're meant to take it apart. I use a nail clipper and a rubber band to take mine apart. Nonetheless, its not like Hinderer is required to build them that way or required to sell that tool. Both seem intentionally unnecessary especially after 6 generations because they know fans will defend it. That's like Apple advertising the new iPhone has interchangeable cameras but you need their $100 tool to change them (sold separately.) They aren't really interchangeable then upon purchase and everyone knows why they're doing it. Just buying the product upfront and risking damaging your very expensive tool to get around it doesn't justify that decision. To get an equivalent to an 0562ti im really spending upwards of $700+ to get the full experience of the tri way and full titanium from Hinderer knives marketing pov and its just not $400 more worth of knife.
Dude... no. It was designed because of the polarization with pivot hardware in the enthusiast knife world. Bearings vs pb vs nylon. Everyone had a different opinion. The 0562 is a great knife, especially for the money. One can make a solid argument that it is one of the best bang for your buck highish end knives you can get. But at the end of the day it is an imitation of the XM-18. There's only one original and it's obvious to those who have taken the time to find out. Good comparison vid!
I have the 0562cf and got my first xm18 last week during your video and off your link. It was actually easy for me thanks. Both are nice, the xm18 fits perfectly in my hand a hair better than 0562 but no complaints here
I had the 0562 in G10/Elmax and should have kept that. I still like the 0801Ti better. Quality and action are the same. The 0801Ti has a beautiful blade that quickly tapers down to make a good slicer. Also, really nice milling on handle. I’m not even into flippers but I’ve kept 6-7 good ones. Been into knives a long time but have no desire to go above $300 manual MT Socom Elite money. If I did get something more expensive, Hinderer would near top of list.
I like the ZT 0652, Got both the titanium and the CF. Biggest problem with the Hinderer knives is all of the scales that are really wanted are always sold out. Especially on DLT trading. The brown, green, grey etc knives and scales never sell. Sellers discontinue knives that don't sell. Explain to me that.
Thick behind the edge works in a working mans way. I like a thin profile don’t get me wrong but at work I’ll just chip or break it so I value a thick stock with a thick edge just so I don’t break it
Here's the thing about it, just like when the Bradley Alias came out years ago as a cheaper Sebenza. If ya buy the cheaper version, you're still gonna want the other one, but most likely, not vice versa
Nice video. I have the Hinderer. I’m not real confident with the overall quality. I’ve read on a couple forums that Hinderer has very poor customer service. ZT, I hear they have great quality and customer service. My ZT0022 is spot on. It’s screams quality.
Well, I've gotta admit, this is the very first time I've ever heard anything similar. Not sure what to say here man. Maybe people perceive "quality" different. As for customer service, I've never had an issue with either. I've owned many variants of both. IMO, the ZTs are good, but nothing compared to the real deal. Whatever you're happy with is right for you 👍
The fact that people judge the quality of a knife by flipping action alone is just completely ridiculous, obviously the XM 18 is a much better built knife then the 0562...
Dollar for dollar, the ZT has to get the nod. The Hinderer is slightly better, perhaps, quality-wise, but also costs 2X as much! The Hinderer is a close runner-up. That said, I prefer the Hinderer. The extra quality is worth it to me.
You said a lot of comments about bouth knives but you forgot that Hinderer had a laynard hole :) Maybe its the reason becouse its lighter then ZT :) I realy love that on knife...Best wishes from Serbia
I want the Xm-18…but Rick Hinderer wont make me one so i bought the CT…guess he earns more money having CT produce a nockoff for himm…i will admit im a little pissed but living in denmark (europe) i dont know if its going to be a week or a year before i can order one🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️😂😂😊😊
Maybe others mentioned the Corvette vs Ferrari analogy was off. The track experience does not always match the magazine and image hype. Besides, these knives are more like trucks.
The XM slicer is just a better looking grind. I’ve had a 0562 G10, and may get one again. I just think the XM slicer looks better without the big thumb ramp. The Z/T although a Hinderer design almost looks like a 0300 series, the grinds are pronounced too much and a lot going on. Just an opinion.. Be well
Having owned a 3.5" XM18 and an 0562TI, I sold the XM. I just didn't like it as much and didn't feel like the value was there for me. The lockbar had a problem with traveling farther and farther over as I cut with it, it had lock stick, it was squeaky even after a long and painful (for my finger) break-in with KPL, and I didn't love the action on washers so my squeaking problem remained even after disassembling and reassembling it. I'm sure mine was an isolated issue because I've hardly ever heard of those issues on Gen 6 knives, but they happened. I also think the 0562TI feels better in hand and is MUCH more comfortable to deploy, and no lockup issues on my example, though I have heard of issues with ZT framelocks in the past. Now, with that being said, I still want a Project X if I could ever manage to get my hands on one (and afford it). Right now it feels impossible though.
The first knife i ever bought was a gerber torch 2 probably 15 years ago which i recently learned was a rick hinderer design so apparently I need to buy a real one. Lol
Um, I know where you are trying to go with your analog but the c7 vette cornered just about better than any car, almost ever. Not sure about the new mid engine versions but, yeah.
If you've never held one, it may change your mind to put it in hand. Deployed, the flipper creates a perfect spot for your finger to sit in, almost like a gaurd.
@@tristanmurphy4731 really only see choking up on versions with a choil, in which case my middle finger falls right in the same place my index finger was.
There's a reason you keep comparing all kinds of different hinderers to the 0562. You know the old saying. I think you've actually convinced yourself there better.
Ya but you're just casually applying that saying to something you think is true in a sort of wishy washy way. Speaking as the actual person who controls my brain, I can tell you confidently that you are not correct.
I like the zt blade better. The slicer grind on the xm18 looks like a butter knife. I like the grind lines and overall blade shape of the zt. The choil-less xm18 is nice.

The fact that people judge the quality of a knife by flipping action alone is just completely ridiculous, obviously the XM 18 is a much better built knife then the 0562...
Im sorry but I was pretty dang sure the carbon fiber used in the 0562 IS textured.
honestly having had a ti 0562 i bought a kizer activ bantam, and their actually comprable!
I love my 3.5 No choil Slicer. I even got my name Laser engraved on the lockside.
Dollar for dollar, the ZT has to get the nod. The Hinderer is slightly better, perhaps, quality-wise, but also costs 2X as much! The Hinderer is a close runner-up. That said, I prefer the Hinderer. The extra quality is worth it to me.
Actually in 2024 the Hinderer is only about $125 more. But yes, I agree with what you said
Any chance you'd sell that 0562? ...please?
Not mine. Belongs to my buddy Rob and it's his only knife.
Great vid buddy. I went with the XM18 but I guess you already know that😁👍
Crazy part is the ZT is more than likely a higher hrc than the hinderer & better edge geometry. So the the ZT will most likely out cut the xm!
Ya... im not interested in dissecting the analogy. It served its purpose.
Be well
ZT0562ti is good enough for me. If I want to customize my knife I'll go the Olamic route.
Could you tell me how to get a hinderer.thanks
Great review
Ok you sold me I want them both !
If hinderer had an only fans metal complex would be the first customer lmao
Do you know that a TwoSun m390 knife actually has that blade steel?
I bought this...now I bought a Hinderer.
You just can’t beat a Hinderer, I’m sorry. I love the ZT hinderers but they are just not the same feel.
Heck yeah
You wont but you will...
No bias here… move on!
Great comparison, thanks. No lanyard hole on the ZT, so obviously the Hinderer wins. 😉
I like the non flipper more. To me the flippers sticks out like ugly sharkfin.
If you've never held one, it may change your mind to put it in hand. Deployed, the flipper creates a perfect spot for your finger to sit in, almost like a gaurd.
@@jad1019 ....until you choke up. My 1st xm18 is a 3.5" flipper with a choil, std. thickness. My dream xm18 is a no choil non flipper 3.5"
@@tristanmurphy4731 really only see choking up on versions with a choil, in which case my middle finger falls right in the same place my index finger was.
There's a reason you keep comparing all kinds of different hinderers to the 0562. You know the old saying. I think you've actually convinced yourself there better.
No. Lol. I can understand how you arrived there. Its an interesting thought, but it isn't correct.
@@metal_complex you say something enough times. You start believing its true.
0562mic haha
I couldn't find the xm18 anywhere. So I settled on the zt562
