    Great review! I only own 3 nice knives. My first was the 0562cf. Second was the spydy PM2. 3rd was the sebenza 31. I absolutely love all 3! I am probably going to grind a finger sized choil at the base of the 0562cf blade because I like being able to choke up on it for tons of leverage.

    great review & great knife no doubt.
    just wanted to add, the lock bar stabiliser also prevents lock bar movement back towards the frame when squeezed in hand as well as being an over travel. hence it is called a stabiliser.
    cheers mate

    I have the same knife with the Elmax. The new ones have S35VN. I have a lot of Spyderco and BMs. The 0562 is probably my best knife. I'm weird and don't like flippers so doesn't get carried much. I bought mine when they were still fairly new. Holding the knife in store, I knew it was something special..

    I own the cf version of that beauty now over a year and its awesome I love it. In my oppinion it is one of the best edc knives of ZT and i got al lot of them ;) and tested them. It is also a very good gentelmans folder with carbonfiber scales ;) Keep up the good work :)

    the only things I wish ZT had done with this model would be add jimping to the flipper tab (a must for an EDC flipper IMHO) and include a lanyard hole (again a feature I prefer for my EDC knives), and because of that I went with the ZT 0804CF instead, which is, again IMHO the 'best' full sized folding knife.

    I have a ZT0566 and a ZT0550, but no 0562 yet. If I have a grail knife, this is it.

    The zt 0393sw is another Hinderer design that I really like as well with spanto grind. Maybe it's my hand size but i just can't seem to get a comfortable grip on my American lawman. The finger choil is too big for one finger and too small for two. My middle finger ends up resting right on the point of the choil. Wish it had the same choils as the recon 1 which fits my hand perfectly.

      Please, I need your help. I don't like the slipery grip on full metal handles and I don't like the feel of carbon fiber. However, It's the only chance I could buy a good folder and I narrowed down to ZT 0562. Which one of the 2 versions, would you get, for a user knife? CF or full TI ? Thanks in advnace

    I have a real Hinderer XM-18 3.5 and I still reckon my Hinderer designed ZT's are a much better Hinderer than the real deal.
    In fact I was that impressed with ZT's take on them that I went out and bought a real one foolishly believing that an XM would be light years ahead of a ZT.
    My XM is waayyyy more expensive and has the weakest detent and action that I have ever come across in any of my knives.

    The lock bar stabilizer is actually more aesthetic since the steel insert prevents overtravel. I have the 562cf in cts 204p and it's one of my favorite. I think it's a bit thin for hard work. It's more of a more edcable hinderer with a thinner grind for better slicing and thin profile for ease of carry.

    I just got my ZT yesterday and it started out drop shut capable and now I can feel every rotation of the bearings. It makes it difficult to shut as it’s already a larger flipper knife with what seems to be a small stopper that can make you double clutch. Any thoughts?

    I have a bravo EDC in elmax that is currently being worked on by bark River because the tip broke off and the edge had a little chipping (I dropped it... although I also dropped my 940-2 and that had no damage whatsoever so who knows what to think anymore)

    • @f22shift
      @f22shift 7 лет назад

      Aaron Rowe bark river is pretty famous for chipping. I don't have any bark river but one of my friends has a bunch since he's into bushcrafting. Every one had micro chipping. The good thing is that after resharpening a new edge, the new edge is stronger.

    I know a good knife when I see/hold one. I bought the same model with G10 and Elmax not long after they came out..My hate for flippers made me sell it at way too low of a price.. The knife is almost perfect except for the flipper and I really could have lived with it...
    Now, the new ones are the same price with S35VN that you say sucks (I trust you)... I'm so pissed I sold that knife but I've done much much stupider things in life..So, I feel a little better....

      +Abdulrhman Almulla the steel will last longer on the 204p, but the higher price is definitely there. I would be happy with the elmax as I dont have a great love for Carbon Fiber either

    Hex screw? look like torx to me mate. I love this knife and really want to get one but I just wish it didn't have so many screws on it, 3 stand offs? strong sure but it just kills the look for me.

    • @CedricAda
      @CedricAda  7 лет назад +1

      Jimmy Grey ah yes, they are indeed torx

    • @jimmygrey6848
      @jimmygrey6848 7 лет назад

      Well "Hex" isn't colloquial at all, it's the standard nomenclature. Allen key is a trademark and even the Allen company don't like the fact everyone refers to hex bolts and sockets as "Allen Keys". If you want to get really technical, TORX shouldn't be used either, instead it should be "Hexalobular"...

    • @jimmygrey6848
      @jimmygrey6848 7 лет назад

      No I wasn't going off wikipedia... Was just what I was told by a machinist, guess he (and I, by extension) were wrong about Allen, or maybe we weren't I don't know, I couldn't be bothered to look into it further. The Hexalobular thing was wikipedia though so you got me there, but how do I know anything you've said is not from some quick google search either? The "cryogenic" tempering went fine thank you very much, and that's not an ESKY. The brand is Willow and it was labelled "10L Cooler".

    • @jimmygrey6848
      @jimmygrey6848 7 лет назад

      Wasn't so much patriotic as it was cheap, the acetone got into the insulation and dissolved it anyway. No I didn't Rockwell test it after, I have no idea whether it had any significant effect. I was just following the heat treating guide laid out by Sandvik for 12c27. The small blade was 154cm probably didn't need the deep freeze cycle and if it did it would need colder temps if I recall, but thought I'd throw it in anyway. I don't have a baseline to compare my 12c27 to since I've only made 3 blades with it, and they've all been Heat Treated in the same way with the cold cycle between tempering, all I can say is the steel holds up really well and has similar edge retention and maybe more toughness than 1095.

      Thanks man I appreciate it. Probably wont be much happening on my channel though. I never remember to film myself making knives and knife making has taken a backseat to university in recent months. Also trying to get some folding blades in development. You'd be better off following my facebook page: facebook.com/GreystoneCustom/ if you use facebook that is, I post pictures of finished knives there. But as I said, won't be much happening for awhile.

    That bit at the end that the blade stops crash into doubles as an excellent skull crusher. I recommend pinky behind pocket pecker to stop slippage and allow palm to make best use of the jimping with thumb wrapped over the natural butt of the knife for extra pushage. Crush some skulls, folks. The knife won't mind a bit. Just remember, blood is super slick.

    Those are thumb studs on both sides. Definitely ambidextrous thumb studs not blade stoppers, the bar is the blade stopper. Two opener options: flipper / thumb stud.
