  • Now that we have a dataset, Dr. Daniel shows you an underused SPSS tool to make your data readable by human beings...not just a computer!
Diva and Mickey get a nap in while Dr. Daniel walks you through the settings for a codebook, using all available settings. Then we examine the output to determine which parts to keep and which to discard. Last, we select only the settings that will be most useful and re-run the codebook. We wrap up by exporting the codebook to Microsoft Word or Excel for additional cleaning.

Hi Dr. Daniel, could you please tell me how to only include valid percents in my codebook so any missing data is ignored? Currently, my codebook seems to generate the missing data and include that in the percent.

Can u teach me how I can separately view the analysis for the data that I have arranged in values i.e. gender (male and Female) and see statistics separately, the crosstabulation shows the mixed results for gender but not the separate stats for the Male or Female.

Go to Data -> Split file. Move the Gender variable into the "Groups based on:" box and OK. Then run your analysis as you planned. You will get two sets of output, one for males and the other for females. When you are done, go back to Split file and click Reset to clear the grouping. Good luck!
