I'm glad I found someone in the fitness industry talking about body dysmorphia and trouble with getting used to gaining some fat during the bulking phase. Throughout the years the only things I have heard is that they felt great and energised etc. But never mentioned the part of feeling somewhat self-conscious while bulking. Thank you, this is encouraging!
'The results showed a non-significant direct effect between Instagram use and dysmorphic concerns. However, the relationship between these variables was statistically significant through appearance-related comparisons, ideas of reference about “laughing, commenting” and difficulties in emotion regulation. Gender did not moderate any relationship. Conclusions: Men and women who made the most use of Instagram were equally vulnerable to dysmorphic concerns when they tended to compare their appearance with other users' So it's literally your own fault.

I noticed that I don’t fit in some of my favorite jeans anymore and got sad and started getting in my head but I had to tell myself “this is what you wanted, you’re making progress in bulking” it’s definitely a battle between yourself and your thoughts

As a guy it’s interesting to watch the mindset of a woman who trains. And I’m surprised how similar our style and philosophy is. Love this! I went through my first bulk this year and found sizing up in daily jeans and shorts was the best move to make me feel comfortable everyday. I still have my smaller size clothes that fit, they are just a bit more snug and best for going out in
I like that you want to build muscle in a healthy way! I am also not a fan of people who want to build weight and muscle mass through unhealthy food or mass shakes etc.. In my opinion, your attitude will help a lot of people who want to do the same as you. Based on your other videos, I do the same, it's just the healthiest way to go, also for the mind. I'm a mental health therapist and I wanted to let you know that "body dysmorphia" is an actual clinical diagnosis that often focuses in on one specific body part and really impairs people's lives. Maybe that is what you're referring to in the video, but it sounds like maybe you're referring to body dissatisfaction in relation to society's standards. Just wanted to bring some awareness to how that term is being used in order to best respect people who may have the clinical diagnosis. All love to you!

I'm glad you mentioned the mental aspect of weight training and bulking. That's exactly why I stopped this type of traning, although it has many benefits. It took me so long to lose more than 30 kg and it was a long and hard process. Physically and also mentally, to believe that I'm not overweight any more. And then I started to get big tights and big arms in the gym and a bigger appetite and I really got in panic. For my mental health I'll stick to walking, pilates and yoga. But I'll still watch your progress and wish you all the best, Sophie :)
It's so hard because it's that panic that we really need to challenge, to sit with and understand in order to move beyond our hang ups surrounding our body. However, as someone who struggles with the same thing, it's definitely not easy. I workout very intensely and heavily but eating enough to fuel the work I do and muscle growth has been difficult. I get so panicked (triggered) about eating "too much" and potentially gaining weight that it hinders any progress I could make. I stay restrictive out of fear and to feel safe after being triggered, yet continue to move heavy weight frequently which is not healthy. This time around I am deliberately eating more healthy, well rounded meals with an emphasis on protein to gain muscle, and yes, probably some added fat. I want to trigger myself in order to confront the body dysmorphia and eating disorder and heal myself.

Hey Sophie! I noticed that you incorporated a lot of quad focused exercises in your leg day workout. Can I ask why you don't sprinkle in some more hamstring and/or glute focused exercises (e.x. romanian deadlifts, leg curls, hip thrusts, step ups,...). Is there a reason behind this? Do you maybe have multiple separate leg day workouts each week each dedicated to a different muscle group? (Quad/glute/hamstring) ? 💗💗💗💗

The body dissatisfaction is real at some points i did a building phase for 6-7 months and to see glutes and nice legs was great but it look a while to really appreciate them. I did my body scan and realized I had imbalances in my legs and even lost muscle one of my arms but the fat went up slightly. Hopefully this time everything goes better for this one

How do you do your skincare before your exercise routine in the morning? I could never. My face is a sweaty mess even after strength and I feel like all my skincare products have been sweat off at this point, so I always do it afterwards
