Thor: Ragnarok in 2017 completely reinvented the God of Thunder, who, after Thor: The Dark World- many thought had become a pretty boring character. Since Ragnarok was such a hit, it seems like Taiki Waititi was given free reign to do whatever he wanted for the sequel 5 years later.
Thor: Love and Thunder raises a lot of questions though. Like did Thor Odinson get dumber? How many times are these goats going to scream? Can we see Gorr the God Butcher butcher some gods sometime? Was that Guardians of the Galaxy tease in Endgame really just for the intro of this movie? If Gorr thought all gods only cared about themselves, why did he assume they would rescue children?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Thor: Love and Thunder! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

I disagree actually. The point Gorr makes is that gods don't care about mortals (which is further established by Zeus' unwillingness to help Thor) but it's only reasonable that gods would seek to save their own children - in fact, I bet Zeus would try to save his children if they were in danger, even if he was only motivated by his narcissistic desire to be worshiped.
Thing is, Gorr's point is that gods only care when they're the ones at risk of losing everything.

@@EventualWarlord I disagree. It’s like how Thanos presented himself as a noble crusader seeking to save the Universe from itself rather than the sadistic madman that everyone thought he was but in Endgame when he decided to destroy the entire Universe and admitted he would enjoy himself as he did so it would become clear to us in the audience that beneath his glamour he was the same thug that The Heroes all viewed him as being. So too with Gorr, his grief and vengeance led him to becoming a deicidal maniac but he knows that that the gods he battles care more than he’d like to admit he’s just in denial about it

AND the ending he Does relearn to do what’s right no matter what-with the adoption-learning to love after loss, to preserve, to show up, to stick with ppl. Like, every god we saw was pretty much horrible to the people who worshipped them - even Thor, who we saw harm a civilization he was "saving" in a self-servingly cool way. Thor himself even fakeout-killed the King of the Gods for being indifferent to suffering - THE EXACT SAME THING GORR WAS DOING - and got a hero moment for it. But instead of having that conversation or elaborating on why the gods deserved to be saved, they had Gorr kidnap some kids so that he remained the bad guy and Thor could save someone. Fun!

Sorry, it seemed funny, so I had to.
Okay, but seriously though, the issue is they just pull in a random ability without putting any thought into it.
It's bad script writing. Pulling special powers out of your backside at the 9th hour to save the day is a quick way to make people check out.
And the first question people ask is "Why didn't you do that earlier?"
A good writer would have provided a way for the children to gain his abilities, which explained where this new ability came from, and why it wasn't getting used again.
Why not have the chunks of Mjolnir be the empowering factor. Each kid gets a chunk of the hammer allowing the kids to have the power of Thor to lesser degrees. Have Mjolnir repair itself afterwards to explain why he doesn't do it again.
Now that it's whole once more it can't spread to multiple, and have the "worthy" requirement kick in once more.
Why didn't you use it before? Because before it was broken you had to be worthy.
Why don't you use it after now? Because it's back to one piece and you have the worthy requirement again.

Thanks was the villain in one story, which was split into two movies. That doesn’t change the point that the other commented was making.

The original runtime for the movie is like 4 hours so if we nah enough maybe we can get the Taika cut… 😂😂😂

You'd think, by now, screenwriters would submit their screenplays to Ryan FIRST to foresee and patch plot holes and correct stupid plot devices. That'd be SUPER easy, but a HUGE inconvenience . It works out better this way for all of us I suppose.

I would much rather watch these than the movies or tv shows they are based on anyway. So much time saved. Thank you.

My favorite part of this movie was when Thor met back up with Jane on the battlefield, having a little re-meet cute, meanwhile all around them New Asgard is visibly fighting for their lives while they chat. At the council meeting afterwards it is literally (flippantly, casually) said that a lot of warriors died. This movie's tone was fishtailing the entire way down the plot road.

That's literally EVERY Marvel movie though. I'm sure a million people lost their lives when New York was attacked and a million more were stuck buried under the rubble, but hey let's get some shawarma.

I felt so frustrated watching them just stand around with civilians fighting zombie monsters in the background. Like

@@_yujin_ yeah, while a million people were still stuck under the rubble. They're heroes. Their job is saving people. This is literally every single marvel movie. I cringe everytime the Hulk throws something. Yeah it's cool to watch, but it's not cool for the little old lady walking her dog then gets crushed by a car that just fell out of the sky.

Those weren't ordinary civilians, they're Asguardians who relish the chance to die in battle and reach Valhalla, so it wasn't that big of a deal
