@@_Stormfather It's never fully explained. They mention the Monkey's Paw as an analogy, but that doesn't really seem to apply (as that usually takes the vague wording of the wish and makes the wish itself a double-edged sword). For the most part, the wishes we see just take away something unrelated as payment. For the wishes that Max grants when he's the Dreamstone, he can take whatever he wants through magical means. For the three wishes we see the Dreamstone grant (not counting the coffee guy), we tend to see the wisher losing physical strength and stability. Diana progressively loses her powers the longer Steve sticks around, and Max starts to deteriorate the more wishes he grants (although he is able to rejuvenate himself with the payments for other people's wishes). Barbara's the closest one we get to an actual Monkey's Paw situation because she actually wishes for physical strength (among other things), which causes her to become cold and cruel (a seemingly related consequence of gaining power). Many of yhe wishes that Maxwell grants also seem to have ironic consequences, but this doesn't really seem to be an intentional side effect of the wish being made. The guy who wishes for the wall has a lot of negative backlash from his people, but that's something Max seems to just note offhand is probably going to happen. There's a guy who wishes for a farm but just gets a bunch of animals in the middle of the street (probably due to Max's rapid-fire wish granting more than anything else).
@@nathaniel201 The price paid by the guy who wished for the wall was that Max Lord took his security team, remember? Although why that faces backlash from his people is unclear to me.
@@adamdavis1648 Yes, which Max said would leave him defenseless against the backlash from his people. I didn't understand why we couldn't have just Barbara, Diana, and Max have to renounce their wishes and and the others be cancelled because Max renounced. That would have resolved the issue with the wishes since the three of their wishes were selfish and they all could have learned a lesson.

Not having seen the movie, I'm curious what actually gets "taken away" when someone makes a wish. Does it ever go into that?

I didn’t clarify my point. I know what you mean but what I meant is if she is grieving after 70 years it’s because when they wrote that part they forgot how long ago he died
@@ramiyugor2 tbf she was still kinda heartbroken in Justice League, so it's all kinda weird
The script for this pitch meeting is 10 times better than the movie itself xD
True.
What about blind people wishing to see???
@@nosuchthing8 Depending on their living circumstances before the wish, some people would not take their wish back, while others would see the damage it would cause in the long run , by making those who denounced their wish to eventually question their choice and end up hating on Diana and her Lasso for forcing them onto that situation.
Also Keep in mind that this is not a perfect wish that you get from a Genie's Lamp, this wish takes something else from you, so its better to be what you were before you even got the wish, cause this one has consequences.
"just make steve trevor come back as himself!"
"NO!"
"Aaaaah"
"why?"
"because"
"fair enough"
I think it was a buildup for a slow reveal and also to setup the outfit changing scene.
@@Jon-6969 The slow reveal was not worth it and they could have just gone shopping
This is probably my favorite Pitch Meeting. So good.
"You know, there's an easy fix to that. Just have Steve appear as himself."
"No."
"Okay."
aaaaahhhh
How about get all the way of my back
It was weird as if the director thought that her flirting with the guy who got possesed would not be ever creepier!
yeah thats what they said....
hmh thats in the video
Me after the first movie: "I trust Patty Jenkins with this character, and any movie she'll make in the future!"
Me today: *looks nervously at Rogue Squadron* 😬
@@Winterfang doesnt seem like shes writing rogue squadron so it could still be good
Well 1984 was poorly directed...
@@jon4715 it was, but she has a track record of good films, so one poor one doesn't make me worry.
Listen as long as she isnt the writer, and accepts that there needs to be a greater attention to the special affects(which shouldnt be an issue as she'll be working with ILM and Lucasfilm), it should be fine.
Patty did a good job with the first Wonder Woman, but she didn’t write that one. Guessing she’ll stick to her guns and leave the writing to professionals.
"What happens to this guy's conscience while Travor is in his mind?"
"Who's to say?"
"You are!"
"Yea..."
That Yea cracked me up so hard!
He dies until the wish is renounced lol
He get to sleep with her so... hi will be ok with it 🤣
@@christianvalentinocalicchi2517 That's not the way consent works, is it?
@@christianvalentinocalicchi2517 "He" didnt "get" to do anything, his body was made to have sex without his knowledge or consent...
A-ma-zin-gg!!
You addressed most of the issues that troubled me, plus other ones in a very funny way to show the inconsistencies! It was an adorable video!
I felt impersonally cited "Most of the world doesn't speak English..." - it was another moment when I had to pause the video to laugh aloud.
Now I have to watch all the Pitch Meeting videos, I feel optimistic about them.
"Barbara...She's a cat now".
Me: (Getting Jellicle nightmares)
Cheetah: "I'm gonna take Wondi to the Heavy side Lair...."
Jellicle Woman 1984
They can, and they do!
Now that you mention it, maybe ww84 is a way better version of Cats.
This time did they remember to not include the CGI butthole so they didn't have to go and erase all the CGI buttholes after the film was done?
This is better than the actual film.
I TOTALLY AGREE... Lol.😆
sadly😕
Always has been.
This comment is *tight*
AMEN BROTHER... SING IT SO THAT EVERYONE SEES IT
Ikr I couldn't Finnish it, it was so bad
Don't forget they went to Egypt and happened to drive past the one guy they were looking for. That's like going to a state bigger than Texas and looking for a guy, and you just happen to be driving past him on the same highway.
Also barbara is running from work, literally goes just around the corner and runs into the guy who almost raped her in the park last night and also her homeless friend from the park is there too because
Technically egypt only has one highway
I'm going to try that one.....really why wouldn't it work?
Everyone knows there's only one road in Egypt.. Duh🤷
Yeah and that jet plane had enough fuel to cross the Atlantic twice... No biggie...
Ok so after watching 107 of these screen rants. This is the one that broke me down laughing into tears. Thank you for this gem
