It felt like they had the layout, but HOW they got to each point was just "eh whatever works" lol.
I think it’d be hilarious if you did an old-timey black and white pitch meeting for Casablanca or some other classic. Have your characters wear fedoras and chain-smoke the whole video! 😂
Casablanca is a good choice. There probably wont be so much to make fun of but that in itself might be interesting to watch. All the catch phrases still there but the movie is actually well put together. Or maybe it will turn out that they werent but we just thought they were... Other suggestions could be Godfather and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

I mean they helped fight Black Adam, helped try to find the kid, and helped in the final battle. They did what Rookie Superheroes in another character's movie should. They were more or less as relevant as Black Widow and Hawkeye were in the first Avengers movie, and this wasn't even a movie about their team. They also weren't just there to fight each other or fodder like Widow and Hawkeye were. Cyclone also got to mention her backstory, had a relation to Hawkman, and explained her powers. Atom Smasher was a second generation hero, their powerhouse, and the comedy relief.
I don't know if it's a compliment to Ryan that he can always find some part of a movie to work in "super easy, barely an inconvenience" or if it's a sign of how movies are made nowadays that there's always some important plot point that's dealt with too easily by the characters because it just needs to happen
It's the latter. Found out by trying to write my own stuff and realizing you do find yourself reaching for that Deus Ex Machina type of solution here and there. Here and there it's also a fine trick to use but if it's your main issue of all your narrative that's being solved like that, you should rewrite it all...or pitch it as is

Right when I saw it in the movie, at the part where Black Adam spoke English 5 minutes after being awakened after 5000 years, I was so stoked to see what Ryan would come up with for the scene. Predicting comedy genius is TIGHT!
One thing I found unbelievable was despite the numerous times he broke through the wall like the Kool-Aid man, the mom never once gets upset or tells him to stop destroying her home. Even when he was fighting with Hawkman and smashing into furniture and ruining her son's room, she was just standing there like "this is fine."
I said that out loud… don’t worry nothing I own here, where I’ve clearly lived for many years and have several locks on the door to protect, is precious.
Literally my husband and I on our date a couple days ago. XD we mostly enjoyed the movie, but were basically making up the anticipated pitch meeting on the drive home! I think Hollywood should employ Ryan to sit in on actual pitch meetings, the writer giving the pitch could look over at Ryan from time to time and Ryan would just silently shake his head or nod in the corner.
Let’s be honest, I’m the heat of the moment while watching the movie, most of the stuff doesn’t seem that bad. Only when Ryan points it all out does it look as silly as it really is
That prison scene was kind of disturbing. The justice society was hard core against killing, but that seems like a worse fate than death and they openly say they’ll never let him out. 😬

Couple thing I want to point out: 1. In the comics, Black Adam has the wisdom of Zehuti (I might be misspelling that) which gives him any relevant information whenever he needs it. I imagine this is how Adam was able to speak English. 2. If Adam said Shazam as soon as he got out of the capsule thing, he would likely either destroy the underwater base or create a hole in the base that would let water in and flood it.
Yeah his powers are the same as shazams but he takes the power from a different pantheon of gods, so his abilities have different limits and details Additionally, saying shazam would transform him into the original version of himself who is over 5000 years old
Also for 2. He did try to get the mouth thing off. It wasn't until he was in the water that it released tho. Presumably because it thought Adam was unconscious in the water like he was supposed to be, or he just managed to figure out how to take it off.

Your show is one of my favorite things on the internet. I genuinely enjoyed going to Black Adam and am happy the studios make summer popcorn flicks, but these quips are spot on: "How will we know he's not a hero?" "Because he'll say it. Constantly!"
You should do some pitch meetings for some of the real old classics. Like Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, From here to Eternity, or Ben Hur. Or any of the many great movies made before 1970.
The pitch really glazed over how illogical so much of the plot really was. It was a test of patience trying to wait for obvious bad decisions to some sort of sense that never paid off.

This movie was actually really fun to watch but I still love the criticism in pitch meetings 😂 I thought he would talk about how exposition heavy it is at times
I thought he might talk about how the movie should have ended when he went underwater and how the rest of it felt added on when they could have had a cool next movie to build up to. But maybe they just wanted to get him into the DCEU immediately.
I enjoyed the movie but it says more about: 1. Lack of quality movies in general let alone from DC 2. Anti heroes are cool as we don't live in a fairy tail and it was trying to portray that Black Adam will do what it takes for the greater good. 2. Branding and passion from Dwane Johnson, the man did his best effort and was one of his biggest goals. I only was disappointed due to how much better the movie could have been.

I love how inconsistent Adam's accent is! In this movie and in Injustice: GAU he speaks with an American accent while in Injustice 2 and the animated Shazam movie he has a hard eastern accent!
Technically one of his powers is to perfectly speak all languages so the accent is completely whatever the voice actor or director decided and it fits canon.
You should do "Hook" as a retro Pitch Meeting. 1991 with Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman. A classic and should be lots of fun with so many silly plot points!
In the comics The powers he has allow him to instantly learn languages and pretty much anything else... It's pretty nuts really. So him speaking English makes perfect comic book sense.

To those that judge movies solely on Pitch Meetings (because I saw someone commenting exactly that): Doing that is a good way to miss out on some pretty great movies (not necessarily this one though). For example, the Jurassic Park pitch meeting. It’s a hilarious pitch meeting about a genuinely fantastic movie. Another is Toy Story. Another is Breaking Bad. Also The Dark Knight. The first John Wick, The Ring, Back to the Future, The 1st Matrix movie, Early seasons of Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Squid Game, Joker, and more. So many people have strong opinions about films they’ve never watched. We’ve gotten to a point where we base opinions off of headlines and joke reviews. It’s weird. Pitch Meetings are pretty perfect, but don’t preemptively judge every movie he covers. Most movies sound weird as hell when you break them down to specific plot points. That’s why Pitch Meetings work so well. But you’re missing out on good, well made films.
If anyone was waiting for the Pitch Meeting before watching many of the ones you've mentioned, they were probably never going to watch them anyway (given the Pitch Meetings for many of those came out years, if not decades, after the movie/tv show premiered). I had to wait a week before watching this Black Adam Pitch Meeting because I knew I was going to go see it but didn't have a chance to until after the PM came out and didn't want to ruin it. If I know I'm not going to see a movie then I'll watch the PM anyway.

This is how I watch movies now. Super easy. Barely an inconvenience.
Right when I saw it in the movie, at the part where Black Adam spoke English 5 minutes after being awakened after 5000 years, I was so stoked to see what Ryan would come up with for the scene. Predicting comedy genius is TIGHT!
It doesn't have deep story but it full action and fun

One thing I found unbelievable was despite the numerous times he broke through the wall like the Kool-Aid man, the mom never once gets upset or tells him to stop destroying her home. Even when he was fighting with Hawkman and smashing into furniture and ruining her son's room, she was just standing there like "this is fine."

I feel like YOU hated the movie. I loved the movie and didn't feel like he was coming at it crazy at all, just normal picking.
I loved and had a blast with Black Adam, but I left the theater thinking, "Oh man, I can't wait for the Pitch Meeting."
Literally my husband and I on our date a couple days ago. XD we mostly enjoyed the movie, but were basically making up the anticipated pitch meeting on the drive home! XD watching it now, we're kind of surprised ryan made no mention of how insanely easy it was to fight the skeletons, or why they'd even *bother* doing it in melee with random pipes and such when clearly the van worked so well..... heh. still great video!

I think Hollywood should employ Ryan to sit in on actual pitch meetings, the writer giving the pitch could look over at Ryan from time to time and Ryan would just silently shake his head or nod in the corner.
I think they should look more when he giggles (oh this idea is so stupid perfect for the sketch). So as soon he giggles it is a bad idea.

That prison scene was kind of disturbing. The justice society was hard core against killing, but that seems like a worse fate than death and they openly say they’ll never let him out. 😬

the trailer and opening revealing the "twist" was my biggest gripe about the movie. they were so serious about it being the kid, even though we absolutely know its the father, EVERYONE KNEW.

Screenwriter Guy was particularly unhinged in this episode. It's incredible to chart the progress of Ryan's acting from the early episodes until now.
Thought of this just yesterday when i watched (or rather binged) old pitch meetings....

It really was a fun movie. Story made no sense, but it was still fun.
I mean the movie sucks ass and this is way better so it's super easy, barley an inconvenience!
Couple thing I want to point out:
1. In the comics, Black Adam has the wisdom of Zehuti (I might be misspelling that) which gives him any relevant information whenever he needs it. I imagine this is how Adam was able to speak English.
2. If Adam said Shazam as soon as he got out of the capsule thing, he would likely either destroy the underwater base or create a hole in the base that would let water in and flood it.
Yeah his powers are the same as shazams but he takes the power from a different pantheon of gods, so his abilities have different limits and details
Additionally, saying shazam would transform him into the original version of himself who is over 5000 years old
Also for 2. He did try to get the mouth thing off. It wasn't until he was in the water that it released tho. Presumably because it thought Adam was unconscious in the water like he was supposed to be, or he just managed to figure out how to take it off.

There are movies where screenwriters labor for ages to craft scenes. And then there is shit like this where they simply fart that nonsense out within minutes. Let's not pretend this would play in the same league and instead just enjoy the ride.

Love super hero movies. Started watching this movie and after about 45 mins I got up, washed dishes, some laundry, and surfed the web. I totally forgot about the movie. It was so good.

Yeah, I really thought he was gonna mention how forced Hawkman and Amanda Waller's meeting was. It was just him naming powers for the audience.
I thought he might talk about how the movie should have ended when he went underwater and how the rest of it felt added on when they could have had a cool next movie to build up to. But maybe they just wanted to get him into the DCEU immediately.
I enjoyed the movie but it says more about:
1. Lack of quality movies in general let alone from DC
2. Anti heroes are cool as we don't live in a fairy tail and it was trying to portray that Black Adam will do what it takes for the greater good.
2. Branding and passion from Dwane Johnson, the man did his best effort and was one of his biggest goals.
I only was disappointed due to how much better the movie could have been.

I love how inconsistent Adam's accent is! In this movie and in Injustice: GAU he speaks with an American accent while in Injustice 2 and the animated Shazam movie he has a hard eastern accent!
Technically one of his powers is to perfectly speak all languages so the accent is completely whatever the voice actor or director decided and it fits canon.

Well, Doctor Fate is probably one of the few characters where it makes sense for him to be removing the helmet regularly.
Forgot to mention the sountrack and the "Teth-Adam" theme on repeat, it certainly did the movie a huge favour. Awesome track.

To those that judge movies solely on Pitch Meetings (because I saw someone commenting exactly that):
Doing that is a good way to miss out on some pretty great movies (not necessarily this one though). For example, the Jurassic Park pitch meeting. It’s a hilarious pitch meeting about a genuinely fantastic movie. Another is Toy Story. Another is Breaking Bad. Also The Dark Knight. The first John Wick, The Ring, Back to the Future, The 1st Matrix movie, Early seasons of Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Squid Game, Joker, and more. So many people have strong opinions about films they’ve never watched. We’ve gotten to a point where we base opinions off of headlines and joke reviews. It’s weird. Pitch Meetings are pretty perfect, but don’t preemptively judge every movie he covers.
Most movies sound weird as hell when you break them down to specific plot points. That’s why Pitch Meetings work so well. But you’re missing out on good, well made films.
If anyone was waiting for the Pitch Meeting before watching many of the ones you've mentioned, they were probably never going to watch them anyway (given the Pitch Meetings for many of those came out years, if not decades, after the movie/tv show premiered).
I had to wait a week before watching this Black Adam Pitch Meeting because I knew I was going to go see it but didn't have a chance to until after the PM came out and didn't want to ruin it. If I know I'm not going to see a movie then I'll watch the PM anyway.
I watch Pitch Meetings for movies I'm never gonna see, so I don't mind the spoilers. I'm never gonna spoil Spiderman or Batman for myself for example.
