There's probably more than enough pulls to get Ellen provided you're logging in daily and going through all the content. I'm fully FTP (not even battle pass or the 5 dollar thing) and I think it's pretty likely I'm gonna hit pity again before Ellen's banner ends even after losing the 50/50 and the game waited until almost the end to make me lose it the first time. Hoyo always gives you a ton of pulls at first. It's the later characters that will be a problem.

Getting her because a DPS that you can play by just holding attack instead of mashing is perfect as a starter character to build while we wait for the meta to develop.
I knew she could use supports but I was still only thinking about nicole. Im happy to see that shes pretty f2p friendly. I was glad that we could use her in the story. Despite me using her completely wrong, she still did a lot of dmg. I cant wait! Gl everyone pulling for her!
Oh shit, I didn't realize her core wouldn't be strictly Faction/Element. I'm definitely pulling on her since I can use my Koleda/Lucy with her until I hit my 300 standard pulls to get Soldier 11. By then I'll hopefully have a decent amount of Anby/Nicole dupes

I mean if you don't have an S rank dps. She's worth the pull. Endlessly waiting is a bad idea when you have 0 s rank dps units. Powercreep will always happen. You need at least 2 to get started. Otherwise you will be waiting forever to play the game.
Tbh it's kinda hard to believe that starlight engine results in almost the same damage as her signature. I mean, I'm glad that if that's the case, but what's even the point of rolling on the weapon banner then?

My “other reason” for wanting her is that I want every character and W-Engine in the game. I’m f2p. I luckily got Ellen and her W-Engine very early(spent 50 pulls in total) so hopefully my luck doesn’t go down the effing drain.
I've saved up 143 pulls for Zhu Yuan, and with a few more days before her banner, I might be able to get even more. I'm really excited to partner her with Nicole!

From what you mentioned as her M1 it sounds like her M1 and S1 together will stack multiplicatively. Or am I looking at it wrong? Edit: for additional context I already have the Brimstone so I’m thinking I should go for M1 over S1. Please help!
I'm not saying its a 100% chance, since both A: hoyo has changed stuff right before release, and B: i only know this info from... reputable sources on youtube i've seen but... The next 3 characters that are coming out ARE the rest of Zhu yuans team. thats already known. for those that aren't in the know, Qinyi is a electric/impact, Seth is Electric/defender, and Jane is Physical/anom. I am somewhat dissapointed in hoyo for making two duplicates of 4 stars already, especially after the disaster that is Billy/Corin/Neko who all share the same type/role on release in a 16 character game(Excluding zhu yuan) And yeah, Anby is going to get mega competition for qinyi, or qinyi gets entirely ignored. Jane on the other hand, well... I think simps are gonna roll for her either way.
Given the number of stun units they are always going to be in competition. Koleda just got better now her bug got fixed and Qingyi is probably gonna be just as good. So at least there are more options F2P or not
Calling the next 3 character are the "rest of Zhu yuan Teams" is a Reaching statement. Qingyi is the only one, jane and seth are not You can make it work But it is not the best Setup and Value. The best Zhu teams will be with Qingyi+Nicole/Rina And Jane will be Grace+Rina Combining all 3 both will not really used their Max potential. Jane is anomaly character, with Grace+Rina you will trigger a lot of disorder. Check some Video to explain how Anomaly & disorder work

According to what is currently known about release schedule, there won't be any other ether unit up until and including 1.3 (after that it's unknown, so it might be even longer than that). That's 12 weeks at minimum of no other new ether units (including A-ranks). So if you're of the mindset "I want ether anything to cover all my bases, including incomplete ether team or just ether dps" then she's basically a must pull. But if you're like me and think "if I can't have full mono team relatively soon, I don't want to bother" then she's a skip. Personally I don't like her playstyle (from what I got to try in the story), so it contributes to my "skip" decision, and I prefer focusing on more attainable goals. I have the ice team, and Grace, so I decided to build electric team next, and pull for Qingyi instead. If Seth is any good (despite being defense A-rank), I might put him in the 3rd slot. After that maybe physical, if I luck out on Jane Doe ;)
I just played her in the chapter and in my opinion shes a better Billy, I like Billy, but after unlocking a few great S ranks he just gets outclassed so quickly, kinda sad since he's one of the best characters in the game for how funny he is to watch on screen

Is there a link to the W-Engine calculations? While I understand that R5 Starlight is strong, the difference seems so small, so I wonder what kind of stats you used to calculate the damage with? Especially since it apparently got changed from +% ether damage to +% crit (15 instead of 25) and only +35% damage for her basic attacks instead of +45% Do we/you know if the +% dmg just add up all together (from the core and from the weapon and from the +ether damage for example)?
I dont share my calc sheets anymore due to some previous incidents, some of which I don't wanna share, one of them being information in sheets taken out of context (which was provided in the video). That aside, Zhu Yuan is not available yet. To answer you question though, 4pc woodpecker+2pc ether, 100% uptime on starlight engine. I cannot comment on the calcs I used for her weapon, so interpret this as you want. All DMG% are added within the same damage bucket, yes (i.e. Skill dmg% and ether dmg%)

I say get Zhu Yuan if you plan on getting Seth, Qingyi and Jane Doe. The Public Security Criminal Investigations Team are strong. They're coolness is close to Sector 6 faction.
At this point in the game it’s really just about who you like more as a character imo. Personally I’d go for Ellen because she does really well with Soukaku & there’s always a later chance to get Lyacon
If you have the chromes Ellen + Qingyi(banner after Zhu Yuan) + Saukaou will work out well. Otherwise Zhua Yuan with the starters hares for a cheaper options but you won't be able to use Saukaou properly without the furry.
@@mebite839If we really want the best Value of money. Its better to get Zhu yuan instead of Ellen if you want to pull qingyi. The difference between Anby and Qingyi is not really worth 80-170 pull in ellen comp. In other hand qingyi will worth in Zhu comp, it will make her rotation a lot smoother

Are you assuming that Zhu Yuan only gets one stack of Brimstone every basic attack instead of one stack per instance of damage her basic attacks do? The wording says "upon hitting" but I don't have the engine myself to test it. Did you get the chance to?
like other hoyo game, support/sub dps who can buff/debuff will be more sustainable from powercreep, and usually Hoyo always provides an alternative option for A class dps . as a f2p/low spender player, i'll save my resource for S class support /stunner character in next future patch
Yes if you need second team for endgame. Zhu Yuan F2P team is already available, so building her is relatively easy and her team potentially will get better with Qingyin release later.
Starlight is kind of busted because its bonus on dodge / assist is not just +19.2% ATK, it's your current attack going into battle MULTIPLIED by 1.19 when you get the buff. So Starlight has lower base ATK, a 25% base ATK boost, and a 1.19 ATK multiplier vs. her sig's higher base ATK, 48% Crit DMG, 25% Ether DMG, and then I'm assuming the 45% skill damage is not a separate multiplier, but gets added on so it's essentially just 65% Ether DMG in total. Still surprising that it's that close, but I guess it goes to show how powerful that ATK multiplier is. Maybe if we get a support in the future who provides the same kind of bonus as Starlight it wouldn't be as powerful. Please correct me if I made any incorrect assumptions @iamrivenous! As always thanks for the guide
@@KeithCooksthis is a nitpick but I do think Starlight Knight’s burst during stun will be significantly lower than her sig. With Starlight ZY has to go before the Support during Chain. Chain has to end with Support so you can Quick Assist in with ZY to get Starlight buff. The ZY Sig seems to be almost designed for the Stun window. I.e. ZY ends chain after Support, and goes straight into Ultimate then EX Special and a full set of the 45% buffed Shotgun Shells. The ZY Sig fares significantly worse during non Stun windows. I’m interested to see if Qingyi can increase Stun DMG to 185% like Lycaon. A ZY/Qingyi/Rina or Nicole team will be cracked with massive DMG during Stun. So it kinda depends on how you’re planning to build. I already have the Brimstone so the ZY sig is a hard sell for me
@@iamkurogane smart thinking, and while I agree with your assumptions, would you not say it's better to end with your support anyway, even if you have ZY's sig? Really we're building around Nicole short buff, so if you put her earlier in the chain, you're no doubt losing out on some def shred / Ether buff by the end of ZY's rotation. It seems the only advantage to putting her at the end of the chain is that the chain attack itself benefits from that buff, but that seems more minor in comparison. That's why Starlight Knight's conditional seems almost moot, since you'll be wanting to Nicole quick assist -> ZY pretty much anytime you have her EX special up.

Do you mean Miyabi? Yes she is an Ice DPS on beta test but recently I read rumor her element can be changed at release. So, just pull anyone you need unless you really like the character and want to save for them.
i really dont like her NA combo, i hate it actually. its half ranged and half melee and that design for me is cool but in gameplay its all over the place and so clunky
But disengous saying the 7th floor is a paywall. And F2P player who has been on since day 2 or even 3 and has appropriately spent there energy and battery will have plenty resiurxes for a solid second team. 7th floor is not difficult at all. Its the 9th floor where you actually have to get good if you want to clear early
He is talking about the red icon shiyu defence. The shiyu defence you are talking about is the one with the blue icon that has 10 stages and is way easier.

I assume half uptime for brimstone, so a max of 4 stacks (14% combat atk%). Reason being I can't test it rn, hence early calcs.

like other hoyo game, support/sub dps who can buff/debuff will be more sustainable from powercreep, and usually Hoyo always provides an alternative option for A class dps . as a f2p/low spender player, i'll save my resource for S class support /stunner character in next future patch

Yes if you need second team for endgame. Zhu Yuan F2P team is already available, so building her is relatively easy and her team potentially will get better with Qingyin release later.
Is Rina better than Nicole in a Zhu Yuan/Anby team? If yes, do Nicole mindscapes help her be better?

Starlight is kind of busted because its bonus on dodge / assist is not just +19.2% ATK, it's your current attack going into battle MULTIPLIED by 1.19 when you get the buff.
So Starlight has lower base ATK, a 25% base ATK boost, and a 1.19 ATK multiplier vs. her sig's higher base ATK, 48% Crit DMG, 25% Ether DMG, and then I'm assuming the 45% skill damage is not a separate multiplier, but gets added on so it's essentially just 65% Ether DMG in total.
Still surprising that it's that close, but I guess it goes to show how powerful that ATK multiplier is. Maybe if we get a support in the future who provides the same kind of bonus as Starlight it wouldn't be as powerful.

@@KeithCooksthis is a nitpick but I do think Starlight Knight’s burst during stun will be significantly lower than her sig. With Starlight ZY has to go before the Support during Chain. Chain has to end with Support so you can Quick Assist in with ZY to get Starlight buff.
The ZY Sig seems to be almost designed for the Stun window. I.e. ZY ends chain after Support, and goes straight into Ultimate then EX Special and a full set of the 45% buffed Shotgun Shells.
The ZY Sig fares significantly worse during non Stun windows. I’m interested to see if Qingyi can increase Stun DMG to 185% like Lycaon. A ZY/Qingyi/Rina or Nicole team will be cracked with massive DMG during Stun.
So it kinda depends on how you’re planning to build. I already have the Brimstone so the ZY sig is a hard sell for me
@@iamkurogane smart thinking, and while I agree with your assumptions, would you not say it's better to end with your support anyway, even if you have ZY's sig?
Really we're building around Nicole short buff, so if you put her earlier in the chain, you're no doubt losing out on some def shred / Ether buff by the end of ZY's rotation.
It seems the only advantage to putting her at the end of the chain is that the chain attack itself benefits from that buff, but that seems more minor in comparison.
That's why Starlight Knight's conditional seems almost moot, since you'll be wanting to Nicole quick assist -> ZY pretty much anytime you have her EX special up.

Ellen will get powercrept by the next ice Dps too... that's how it goes. better to have one dps of each element than none at all. also, given more ice dps units are upcoming (Hiyomi?), but no other Ether DPS units have been leaked, its safe to say Zhu will last a lot longer in the meta than Ellen will
Do you mean Miyabi? Yes she is an Ice DPS on beta test but recently I read rumor her element can be changed at release. So, just pull anyone you need unless you really like the character and want to save for them.

But disengous saying the 7th floor is a paywall. And F2P player who has been on since day 2 or even 3 and has appropriately spent there energy and battery will have plenty resiurxes for a solid second team. 7th floor is not difficult at all. Its the 9th floor where you actually have to get good if you want to clear early
He is talking about the red icon shiyu defence. The shiyu defence you are talking about is the one with the blue icon that has 10 stages and is way easier.
