Criminally underrated game. This is basically the adult version of mario cart and crash team racing. Cant explain it in any either way. The mechanics are great, the weapons, the rules, the maps are amazing with secret short cuts everywhere. And finally its by NAUGHTY DOG, of course its gonna be amazing. And the soundtrack is on fire

The major thing about most racing games is the fact that they're similar yet they have their own twist to them. Sometimes comparing other racing games to other racing games is pointless when most carry similar elements.
People talk about how Crash or Mario are kings of the racing game but honestly... this beats them both out of the park overall. I love crash team racing but god damn, this was good as hell and difficult. I picked this up on the PS4 and holy shit, I don't even know how I beat this game when I was younger.

@@xyro3633 Not even. Some rap is amazing as hell but it's very case by case. What made Jak X was the music is all *custom* done by different artists apart of different bands. Naughty Dog SPECIFICALLY requested that the music be done not only in a racing setting but written as if they were writing to a world audience like a normal album, and it worked amazingly well.

this game is actually a great spin off, considering where jak and daxter came from, like the first game compared to this, it's so crazy and left field , i love it.
For me, the track "Slide" at 46:24 is another track that really stuck with me over the years. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you on "To Be Reborn" being iconic for the game, and there are many other great stand-out tracks, but Slide for me was always a cool and unique track for the game
When this game first came out and I saw it for the first time, I was honestly pretty bummed at first glance. Sure, races were always a fun part of the Jak and Daxter series-but a whole game of em? No platforming? No exploration? I can’t ever get out of my car? Ugh… Then I played it. And ooooooh man, was I wrong to doubt this game. Yes, the platforming is gone and yes it’s all cars/racing, but it’s because they perfected the racing game right here. I’m not one for straight up racing games myself, but man this is the best one out there and the only one I’ll ever need to play. So many amazing tracks, so many amazing game modes (and while some are a FREAKIN pain, they’re no less fun to play) and the freekin soundtrack? Holy man, it doesn’t get any better. Not to mention the games just had hilarious as ever. I was sad to see the series come to an end, but it sure went out with a bang here.

The guitarist that did the music for Jak X is also the guitarist for A Perfect Circle, which is mostly the same band as Tool, so maybe give them a look too.
This game did such a good job with the mechanics, handling, maps, speed, and music. It was always riding the edge of control with break neck speed that at any moment you may either get blown up or crash into oblivion.

I heard a few tracks in your video that were missing from the OST soundtrack I _'sailed the high seas'_ to acquire *_:D_* I'd still be playing this game today, if it hadn't corrupted all my save cards upon trying to use the bugged "Hero Mode". But maybe I'll buy another card and play it again someday :)

@@Copperkaiju the glitch - as far as I remember - would corrupt your save file once starting hero mode (unlocking it alone was safe). I believe the issue was present on the PS3 version as it is just emulating the PS2. My emulator on pc has the same issue too as it's running the PS2 iso. Perhaps the PS4 version is fixed but you may have to ask around to confirm
Though at first, I was bothered that this game didn't feature Josh Mancell or Mark Mothersbaugh's compositions and didn't have standardized stage music, I eventually and quickly accepted it because rock and metal are my two favorite music genres anyway and the J&D series is one of my favorite video game series. So here's to blowing up dune buggies to instrumental metal. :D

After starting to play this game again after 6 years or so. Since I've joined the online racing community side of this game. It makes this game feel new again. And I freaking love it.

Besides, he kinda went edgelord in Jak II more than any other game, and I feel like if they’d stayed with the Precursor Legacy vibe throughout the series it would have been seen as too similar to Crash Bandicoot.

I've thought about that but I think the game has a rule that racers can't get a peacemaker late into the last lap. Just to stop that from happening.
I once experienced an unfair finish. Me and other racer finished exactly same time but game still let that other be 1st leaving me as 2nd place.😒
