    Tried this today and it works in Maya 2022, just make sure your viewport is set to Direct X 11. Also a workaround for the black overlapping objects that seems to happen is to turn the outlines off in the ShaderSFX, and instead use the Maya viewport Toon Outline (Render mode> Toon Tab in top menu> Assign outline) to get your outline instead.

    If mesh with this shader is blocked by another object,the blocked area will render a whole solid color,specifically,the outline color.The issue look as if something wrong with the depth test.

    Hi...im using Maya 2015 and already import the shader into Maya but the graph didnt appear. The object turn to green color. I already enable the DX11.. could you please help me..?

    Is there a way to load it into 3ds max? It has DirectX ShaderFX material, but it only exposes Outline_width_ and Outline_color_ when I import it, and it doesn't work(

    Hi!Can you update it for maya2018 ? Thanks! And there is a bug in Maya2016 version ,the toonline shows only half of the top when the horizon keeps upon the model,but shows all when horizon below the model。

    Hey, so if my character is comprised of different meshes, like a mixamo character or fuse character, I get some transparency issues, like the hair is a see through when the geo is intersecting or from the camera viewpoint

    Hi Kostas! First of all thank you very much for putting this avaliable for all the people out there. I was wondering if there is any way to modify the ShaderFX nodes in order to add another Diffuse texture on top of the one that already is there. Something like a layered texture node. Been trying to add a dirt layer on top of some shaders but so far I haven t had luck. I hope you anwer! Thanks youu! you rock :)

      Hello Gustavo. Glad you like the shader.
      Sure you can. As far as I know all shaderfx shaders are editable. There are probably several ways to modify it to add a "dirt layer". You could for instance just use a lerp(linear interpolate) node and feed two diffuse maps into it and a third mask. Then connect it where the regular diffuse would be otherwise.

    Hi! Is it possible to bake some of those features into a texture? I understand not all of them are bake-able, but those ambient occlusion ones would be cool to have...

      You can bake to texture from one shader nodes state, i.e. almost anywhere along the shading network. However many of these features are view dependant or dependant on other parameters where they won't look right until shaded in a 3D context.
      What part of the shader are you referring to that would be cool to have?

      +kogi04 Mostly just the ambient light,world space gradient,and maybe the toon shading itself,I know it's dependent on light,I'll do some experiments with baking maps out next week :) I was using your ramp shader for the longest time,always wanted to say thank you for your work :)

      +Елена Ярошенко Aha I see. You're welcome for the ramp shader :)
      Here's how you bake textures with ShaderFX. Don't forget that the node you are right clicking on also needs to be selected for it to work. If it's not selected you don't get any apparent error message so it's easy to miss.

      I'm not sure to be honest. I haven't tried the 2017 version of Maya yet. I would guess that it should work. But then again I wouldn't be surprised if there was some issue.

      Yeah. This shader not work on MayaLT 2017. They are appear the texture as green.

      Sorry I can't double check it now because I have revert that to 2016. But I have remember that the viewport is using in DirectX at that time.

    Any chance you could create a video going over how to use vertex color maps in out-of-the-box toon shaders in Maya? This shader looks great but is unfortunately useless for people without Directx11.

      Ccs1989 the toon shaders that exist already are paint effects based. No idea if you can use vertex colors with them. Sorry.

      The pfx toon lines are paint effects, but the default toon shaders are just ramp shaders. Do you know a way to feed vertex color maps into ramp shaders?

    does this shader work with maya 17? i tried using it in maya 17 but i get the green missing texture color. would be of great help if you could help thank you in advance.

      To be honest I haven't touched this shader for a long time. No idea if it works in 2017.
      Did you switch to use DX11 for Viewport 2.0 in your settings?

      kogi04 viewport was in default i havent toched the settings there, btw is there anyother toon shader thats this easy and frienldy to use? And thank you for replying

    If i try to smooth using 3 or just save the file the shader stops working. I am using maya 2016 sp 6
