- This tutorial shows you how to create a hatching style of render using the Toon shader with an OSL shader called UberNoise.osl.

Wow! Awesome! Thank you!
its works thanks great stuff
This is great, how would I render only alpha channel of the lines? I managed to get it with exr, but had to give additional step in davinci fusion, how would I go around to get png only with line work?
I dont have the aiOslShader Node???????????
Neat!
Well... I have tried a countless time but I still cannot figure how to past the osl code at 1:55
compile status just don't open a dialogue case so I cannot past the text in it.... After 30 test, still don't know why I can't....
holy !!!!!!!!!!!!
😎
How would you bake this to export as an fbx
I love you
I can't get this reacting to light, does anyboady got a solution? It will be very helpfull
Have I missed how this noise is reacting to light? For me it is not. Just a even hatch pattern across my model...
Same thing for me here, have you found the solution ?
@@7gaggo I ended up using a arnold utility shader, set it to lambert, pipe it through a ramp for remapping the grey values. And then put the outcome into the edge scale value... This needs a lot of samples for the utility shader, though...
@@ricknweg Ok thank you for your fast response, i don't really understand your process because i'm new to maya, been using it for months only. But i will try to figuring it out based on your comment and some research.
I Love your video...but it's hard to follow...... I changed the param_type 0 to 2, but the render view doesn't change like yours....
same here
Im haveing the same problam . I did everythig the corect way but the osl doesn't effect anything. I realy hope I can find a way for it to work . it looks so good. my arnold render setings are set to contur the osl is compiled successfuly but still the osl does not effect any thing. can anyone help??? maya 2020.4
How do you confine the hatching to shadowy areas?
I just figured this out - after you set up the shader in the video - set edge color to white - then add an edge tonemap (Put a ramp in it) and boom - On the lit places it will be white - and on the dark places it will be black. Also if you have some edges still visible on the white (lit) surfaces you can put exposure up in your render - and it will disappear :)
thank you bro@@infomanhead
Hello! How can I download the file as OSL to be able to import it? It is that it does not open the window to be able to put it in the compile status part
can try again now, its fixed.
hi, since I updated to Arnold 7 the osl compiled successfully but it doesn't show anything in my renderview. what should i do?
i use maya 2020
me too.😂😂😂
@@user-si3bn2mz3g if you get it how to fix this let me know :)
@@amirvahdani4704 Try update arnold~!!!
Nothing appears when the OslShader is plug in the Mask Color
You need to change the filter on your render settings from gaussian to contour
@@ronaldodinguamah9660 still does a whole lot of nothing
I am having problems following the tutorial in Maya 2022. When I try to import an OSL Code it gives me a weird error. # Error: AttributeError: file C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Arnold\maya2022\scripts\mtoa\ui\ae\aiOslShaderTemplate.py line 195: 'AEaiOslShaderTemplate' object has no attribute 'code_widget'
Aren't you pasting uberNoise.ui instead of uberNoise.osl?
I believe this is a bug with maya 2022. I reinstalled 2020.4, and it works just fine!
Install the latest MtoA! Solved the problem for me.
So i was just having this issue, somebody was saying 2020 worked for them, so i figured it might be osl not liking python 3. Put in "-pythonver 2" without quotes at the end of the application target field to boot up with python 2, and viola its works!! doesn't exactly fix the the problem, but it seems that OSL in Maya 2022 isnt up to date yet with Python 3... Hope this helps you and anyone else running into this problem :)
First comment!
hi. are there osl shaders for cinmea 4d ?
if you are using arnold render, yes...
@@ricknweg hm thank you. can i download them somewhere or do i ahve to built them by myself. thanks for the answer
@@heinblues github.com/ADN-DevTech/3dsMax-OSL-Shaders It says 3dsMax. But you can use them in any software that supports OSL...
@@ricknweg ahhh thats nice to know...i was just looking and could not find a way to download them...or can´t they be downloaded? thank you!
@@heinblues top right, green "code"-button. dropdown -> download zip... ;)
CAN IT BE DONE IN 3DS MAX?
just plug the ubernoise map (or whatever pattern you prefer) into the mask color and reduce the cell noise base scale to see the effect
@@matthiasegger4535 sounds good, thanks
Always so fiddly and over-complicated in Maya and Arnold.
Jesus -are you having a laugh - copy code from the website! Someone should be sacked for this. WHY DONT YOU INCLUDE IT AS A BUTTON IN THE INTERFACE??
