Great install video. Its never easy having to film while working under a truck. 4" was definitely the way to go. Higher exhaust gas velocity and more pronounced turbo whistle. Keep up the good work!
Actually satisfying watching you put the pipes together and watch it take shape!
Looks and sounds awesome man! Keep rockin with the awesome videos and can’t wait to get my Duramax life sticker!
I already know how to install straight pipe exhaust but I still watched the whole video lol..
Good video, I have a 4" straight pipe too on my Duramax and I love the way it sounds!.
Along with my new Turbo I opted to have a new 4" straight pipe exhaust installed after finding a hole in my stock system so can't wait should be done Thursday 😁😁
I ordered a kit for a club cab short bed 4" exhaust, I bought mine because it was half the price of any other stainless system available and this was the 4th system in 180K , and I want this to be the last one! Since the turbo outlet is only 3 inches I am not sure how effective the reduced back pressure is at increasing power on a stock motor, but I wasn't looking for that. This might be useful to others all I had to do to adapt it to my extended cab was to cut 14 inches off the intermediate pipe just ahead of the muffler.
Love these vids keep up the great work man!
Awesome man always love watching your videos!
+Mitchell Brodeur thanks brother
This was great to watch. I always thought they were welded together.
Nice install Josh
Sounds awesome!!!
Hey I love your videos and content!! Keep it up🤘🏼🤘🏼
+Kenneth Waggoner thanks brother!
Great video..... keep them coming.....
Sounds killer
Man that sounds good!! 😎👌
Nice install.
WOW!!! Very impressive sir!!!
Thanks
Dam that sounds good👍🏻
You did a good job on your video
“Flight attendants prepare the cabin for departure and cross check” 😂😂 sounding like a plane! Real nice! Love all the vids!
+Xavier Vesga that’s funny
That definitely sounds way better than that 5” you had brother.
What's up everyone? Nice video my man. Happy Friday.
+truckguyjoe thanks joe!
Honestly you could double the length of videos and id still watch them all day long
+John52 Chesser thanks man
So sicc! 🤘🏼🔥
Hey sir, first of all I appreciate and enjoy your channel!! It’s super informative!! I have a question question. Today I actually put on a MBRP 4” turbo or down pipe straight pipe exhaust.. no muffler.. I just noticed that the exhaust tip is REALLY REALLY hot!! Now I expected it to be a little hot since I removed the catalytic converter and muffler.. my question is, is it supposed to be really hot? Sorry, it might be a stupid question, but I’m still learning. Thank you again for your channel!!!
Lol pic on thumbnail looks sick 👍🏻
+Carlos Viera lol thanks I couldn’t resist
Much better sound track on the exhaust! Not quite in the Duece-and-a-Half territory but close!
Much as I like them, the LMTVs just don't have that old school Army sound.
Sounds a lot better with the 4" kit bud trucks looking good
+Ryan Pierce thanks
Have you thought about putting stock down pipe back in since you like that turbo scream i know when i did the new down pipe i lost that turbo scream at wide open throttle and i miss it. Great video as always keep it up
i never got rid of the stock down pipe after taking it out bc i want to throw it back in
I don't see the link below.
I love your videos.
I have a 2007.5 LMM
I hate taking it for a drive just to clean the dpf regen.
I also don't like the 1200*F coming out on my arm when adjusting my 5th wheel camper jack leg...,
I’m going to install this. Is there anything I have to worry about motor wise? Temps etc and the main question will my turbo sound louder when idling
how well do those exhaust hangers actually work? they dont look like they are holding on by much
Very very cool vid I’m doing mine with an exhaust thanks i
When
I sure like them band clamps better than the u clamps, you would not have been able to seperate the center of that 5in. as easy without them. However with stainless now you won't have to worry about that for a long time!
+onlychevys Williams very true
wait was that a stock exhaust that you took out or nah cuz that already looked like it had a nice air flow.
I have an LMM and I was wondering if you straight pipe it do you have to delete your EGR as well?
Had a 7.3 before my now 06 lbz and you really had the impact those clamps down. Was it the same on the chevy?
Why would you downsize from a 5 to a 4 I love my 5 inch exhaust my exhaust temperatures are a lot cooler when I'm towing
So I don't need a catalytic converter for my truck it doesn't have it at the moment but the pipe is half ways. 01 gmc 6.6 diesel
This is on sale and I’m buying one with my next paycheck. Do you still like it or are there any others that you’d recommend?
hi my name is David lash have you ever changed injectors I have a lb7 I think I need the injectors done in it. I c you r from Michigan I live in clare mi
Do you need a tune to run a 4” turbo back on a 07 lbz ?? My 04 Lly did because it had cali emissions and not fed I guess from some digits on the vin ?? Same thing with the lbz ?
Bad ass
Why from a 5 to 4´ ? Did you have too remove if Sinister sponsoring you?
Hi, did you notice any power difference?
What does your temp gauge read after doing all these mod's to your truck?I have a 2006 lbz. Mine runs around the 210 mark. It was around 190 before mod's. Is that normal. I have full up-pipes, no egr. 3in mbrp down pipe with 4in exhaust. Arp studs with c rated gaskets. Had to replace the head gaskets. Also have a super chip tuner.
+Jason Mazzuca I’m not really sure yet what my temps are but I don’t think the exhaust should have a huge impact on the engine temp
Hey truckmaster will you sell me that 5inch exhaust? I bought an 05 duramax and I been wanting to strait pipe it.
What are you long term thoughts on the reduction to 4" and would you do it again, or stay with the 5"? Also, what brand was your 5" system?
question ? why did you go from 5 " down to 4" ?
quick question .. and thought id ask a professional .. so there’s this truck around my area that goes down my street near my house and the speed limit on that road is like 35 which the road is about 30 feet from me not to far .. so when he passes by LITERALLY SHAKES the house how ?! what could he have ? the truck sounds crazy loud even with him going 35 mph .. what could he have you think ?
Will it pass emissions? A straight pipe and egr delete. Great video your awesome
Your exhaust manifold, down pipe, A pipe, B pipe, and muffler have nothing to do with reducing emissions. They're all about getting gases away from the engine without exposing you and your passengers to them. The muffler's only job is to dampen the sound of your exhaust. As far as a tune that can be removed before any emissions test. EGR though is a whole other story
Could you feel any difference going from a 5” to a 4”? I always thought more flow the better.
+BadGoat92 I’m not sure yet I haven’t even taken this thing out of the driveway yet
I have a 2007 Duramax if I put a new exhaust on it do I have to tune it?
Nice. But those trash u bolt clamps are going to be a pain if you ever take the 4” off
+Lanni_LBZ I didn’t tighten then to much so I hope I can get them off in the future
why did you switch from 5in to 4in? i will be buying exhaust soon just wondering what i should do 4 or 5?
Question !!!! I’m getting a full CAT/DPF/MUFFLER delete 4” flo pro.... when I take my old exhaust out to install my new one... do I have to plug back in the exhaust sensors into my new system? Cause right after I put the new exhaust in, I’m gonna be tuning it
No
Is this your current exhaust?
I looked and couldnt find this kit
How do I ask direct questions about my 04 duramax?
I’m new to these duramaxs so on these pre emissions diesels (for example an 03) how would I get mine to sound like this? Just the 4 inch exhaust ?
You wouldn’t since it’s a LB7 your turbo is different so the noise will have less turbo noise but it still sounds great
If I was going to do something like this from a stock exhaust will the steps be the same?
+william voigt yes it will
Muffler vs. no muffler how much does it affect the coal rolling or the sweet turbo sounds ?!
MoSkunk Jr. depends on the muffler
Has anyone done a dyno run between 4 and 5?
Muffler vs no muffler. Whyd you go that route? Ive been eyeballing exhaust for my 06 Sierra, crew cab long bed 3500 LBZ. Read reviews on 4" vs 5". Will probably go with 4, just curious about muffler. Thanks dude, I appreciate what you do.
Matthew Kaski You want the least restriction possible. Also it sounds so much better!
No muffler at all unless it a high flow muffler my works cummins uses a muffler but only muffles the higher exhaust notes but NO muff is key
Surprised the pipe isn’t blue
Did you have to tune the truck at all so it doesn’t throw a CEL since the cat is gone?
I would like to know the answer to this as well
Love to truck but since I live in Michigan I can tell it's a Michigan truck. You should see my Dodge.
Hello what do you think of cleaning the rear fender wheel wells by taking out the taillight and flushing. Because of bildup there, thanks and nine work
Unless you can get it to drain I don't think it would do anything. I'm getting my whole truck new panels and new paint then undercoating the crap out of it
why switch for 5" to 4" ??
The kit link does not work anymore
So when u buy a downpipe back exhaust, you don’t need to buy the downpipe right?
No that just means it’s coupled to your exsisting downpipe
Hey man, just a quick question. My passenger side up pipe bellows keep swelling and I don’t run the truck hard, what could be the cause for that?
Ryan Pennington There should be some expansion... that is what they are designed to do, but if it looks abnormal, then REPLACE immediately... before they come apart while driving down the road....
ghen1913 what would you consider normal expansion? The bellows look “stretched” in a way
Ryan Pennington If you look at a new pair of up pipes, your's should look like that, after start up and driving you will see a slight increase in the spacing between each bellow roll... if you are running a tuned truck, extra boost, they were subjected to extreme heat for a period of time or have a lot of miles on them, they could be getting weak, replacing them with a quality after market pair would probably be your best bet...
the link to the kit is not working...
Would it m6 2016 dur!max
How much did you paid for the kit
What was stock exhaust DIA for LLY/LBZ?
3”
I'm confused why is it louder with a 4 inch exhaust compared to a 5 inch exhaust
+Kyles6.7Cummins Dieselguy thanks for the comments, the 5 is louder but the turbo noise for 4 inch seems louder
You should swap out that steel driveline for the aluminum one.
Not a fan of how those exhaust hangers look . But clean install
Thanks
Is there a reason why you took the 5 inch off
+American Truck simulator Gameplay just doing some comparison videos
What makes you like the 4” more??
+blake keefe just trying out something new
Is there any noticeable difference in sound? Other than turbo being louder?
so officially more turbo sound with 4" than 5"????
Forsyth HotRods yes you will hear the turbo a lot more with a 4 inch
so how about dual 4" turbo sound vs single 4"?
You have air bags on your truck?
+Carlos Viera yes
Brand?
How do you check for exhaust leaks??
+marcos delgadillo just feel for air leaking out of the pipe or spray soapy water on the exhaust while it’s running
Truck Master are you checking the entire length of the pipe? Or where the connections are clamped down?
Will this throw a code on anlbz without a tune?
Yes but it won’t effect anything
@@TruckMaster would it ever go away or really only way to go away with a tune thank God I live in California right! Haha
Some. One. Knows what. Kit Is.
Can I have your old one
I bet the 1 dislike is a ford owner
Why is it not blue? LOL
You should try running an axle dump
daily life yes!
Aaron badboyflexxer all he has to do is take his last piece off and put the tip on.
daily life yeah i know, the turbo sound would be much louder and a deeper growl
Aaron badboyflexxer yee I run that on my 6.0 powerstroke it's sounds sick
I run an axle dump 5” to 10” tip (excessive ik) on my Duramax and it is insanely loud and deep. I will never look back to normal rear exit
What state r u in if i can ask?
+Cranky Diesel Michigan
Axel dump it
Too bad this kit uses those old school clamps.. really takes away from the overall appearance of it
2 lol
5" to 4" downgrade? 💩
Why tf a 5 to 4 inch? 5 inch the world man
