It's not hard. The engine sounds like shit. Like all of these trucks do. I've never heard one that sounds good. 6.9 IDI, 7.3 Powerjoke, 6.0 Powerjoke, Duramax, 12v Cummins, 24v Cummins, stock or modified, they all make me envy Hellen Keller every time I hear one rolling coal down the street. Just something about diesel engine sound doesn't really 'do' it for me and this particular example sounds like every brodozer I see on the road every day. I mean, the rest of what you said I agree with and I friggin love that he and his wife both work on the truck together. That's priceless, especially in this modern disposable age. But the whole premise of the video was to show the Duramax sounding better with a different exhaust and it just sort of *doesn't*. If I was gonna try to make one of these engines sound good...well I wouldn't even bother I'd just replace it wht an SS572 rocking a dual-quad setup and be done with it, or if I wanted to keep it diesel I'd put a 6-53T in there. But if you held a gun to my head and forced me to try to make a Duramax sound good I'd do a turbo delete, put some longtube headers on it, fit a supercharger to regain the boost that went away from the turbo delete, and run some 3" pipe out the side exiting in front of the rear tires...true duals with an x-pipe under there...with some nice borla or magnaflow mufflers fitted. That'd be about the best sound you're gonna get out of one I think. You get rid of that shrill, ear-piercingly-painful turbo whine, you muffle out the intake noise diesel engines tend to make, and you get rid of that awful straightpiped drone for a proper V8 burble. But really I'd just throw the duramax engine itself into the fucking river and put a Detroit 2-stroke or a big block gas V8 in it.

I just ran across from a older widow who still had her husband’s 2001 2500HD Duramax LB7 with only 90,800 miles garage kept. It does have a K&N cold air breather. A mechanic drove it and said he believes it had a tow tuner because he has one on his LB7 and said it ran as good or better then his.
I went from 4” to 5” on my LLY a few years back. I love the sound of the 5”. Getting ready to EGR delete it, aftermarket down pipe and a new billet compressor wheel. I can’t wait!
Fix the headliner - LOL! Fantastic. I have a 2007 Classic Chevy 2500 HD Crew LBZ stock. Sport Red. Still learning the vehicle. Just had it Fluid Film treated in Pittsburgh to protect it. Love your channel!
Chevy uses a Japanese Isuzu diesel motor in their Duramax trucks and it really sounds great and reliable. Nice upgrade, nice truck, nice video and beautiful wife who supports and understands a man's world.
Marion Frasier built in the United States. Do believe Ohio plant , General Motors owned Isuzu at one time, or where partners. There all good if you take care of the maintenance.
I just purchased a 2009 LTZ 4x4 Crew Cab. I used your method for inspecting the truck and this one passed. It hails from Canada which I was a bit worried about but after giving it as thorough as possible inspection The worst amount of rust is under the bed on the cross braces. Otherwise the rest of the truck undercarriage is in great shape. I plan on removing the bed and sandblasting the frame and whole bed inside and out. Thanks for these videos and all the useful information.

I'm doing the wehrli fab complete egr delete kit y bridge with passenger uppipe , pcv reroute and pulled the turbo and got it tore down cleaning it up vanes where sticking.

Great looking truck, but you need to spray those leaf springs with some black paint or some undercoating or something. When she was backing out of the garage and you were filming the crusty leaves stood out like a sore thumb.. plz spray them or do something otherwise sweet ride and sounds waaayyyyy better

When you was pulling out of your drive, I heard that tick. My engine makes the same noise and I’ve been under the impression it was a bad injector. This is my first time owning a diesel for long term.

Sweet dude! Have you thought about an axle dump? I have 5” to 10” tip axle dumped and it sounds completely different than rear exit. It has the popping like a 6.0

I have a stright 5" exhaust. Had a 7" tip on it and went to a 6" tip. It was louder sounding with the 7" tip. Yours sound really good.
