- Do exhaust tips make a difference on a diesel truck? Today we do a comparison test between a 5in straight pipe 6.7 powerstroke with no exhaust tip and with a 7 inch exhaust tip. Do you notice a difference?

There's most definitely a difference that can be achieved when doing a 5" in 7" out exhaust tip. However depending on your preference, if you're trying to get a little extra growl but on a tamed level a double wall is the design to go with. But if you want deeper tone sounding growl and untamed you want a single wall exhaust tip.
Being knowledgeable in musical instruments I utilized my knowledge of such to put a single wall exhaust 5" in 7" out exhaust tip on the 05 6.0 I drive and it is a massive noticeable difference. So just a suggestion to experiment with.. try a single wall. You'll notice the difference instantly.
Nevertheless man awesome build. Keep it up and treat it well. 👍
I could be wrong, but I think most of the sound difference, is because without the tip some of the sound isn't escaping from under the truck, it hitting the inside of the bedside... With the tip on, all of the sound is escaping to open air.
I feel like the 7in tip just made the sound clearer
I have a 2015 F350 6.7 Powerstroke with a delete and left muffler and stock exhaust tip on it. I like the sound and it doesn't announce to law enforcement it's deleted. I think the huge exhaust tips look kinda silly but, it's not my truck so do what works for you. Nice truck.
My 2015 has a 4 inch axle dump, and I just replaced the 6 inch tip with a 10 and WOW is it ever different. Pretty happy with the sound, I also was able to tuck it up in there closer to the spare tire so it really doesn’t look all that obnoxious
A tip will always change the way a vehicle sounds. It may be minimal however, it changes the direction and pattern of airflow as well as the velocity.
K had a tip on my 5.3 8" tip shit sounded badass took it of now sound week asf
I got an 8 inch tip of Amazon for $30 lmao it actually made my truck a ton louder
What did you get
The tip seems to give more depth to the exhaust note
I wonder if the results of the test would be the same with a gas engine? I imagine that the closest thing would be one of the larger displacement ecoboost engines that way both engines would be using a turbocharger. In my next build it would be using a 5.3L LS with a S475 turbo and a 5 inch turbo back exhaust. Turbochargers like having a large diameter exhaust on their outlet flange to avoid as much backpressure as possible. As noted in Richard Holdner RUclips videos.
If you’ve ever yelled through a paper towel tube or a cone, that’s exactly what an exhaust tip does. So yes it will change the tone.
Well if you look at ot from what kind of tip you have. Like yours is dual walled which absorbs more sound vs just a single layer would add more if an echo. And thats just from personal experience.
Juuuuust the tip 😏
I love your truck
You would have to record it in analyze the frequencies
I wish my 2013 power stroke would whistle I just love the way that sounds😩😩
Same. My 2018 wont whistle like this.
Does your truck has straight pipe?
Try to find an 11’ turbo then it should whistle
@@boomer9341why would you put a shitter turbo on that truck ? Lol just gotta get hiss idle with your tunes
@@trentonosburn613 oh ok. Didn’t know. I’m not familiar with tunes that much. I have a 15 power stroke cab and chassis and it has a great whistle with the stock turbo.
Is it a true 7" tip with it being a dual wall exhaust tip? It seems like it would make the inside diameter smaller?
Yes, it being a dual wall, it’s effectively 5” on the inside.
What’s the inlet on that tip?
What tip would you recommend
I think it would have been a lot easier to tell if you would have matched up each section to directly compare with each other instead of running through all the tests and then running through them all again
It was louder a tad with bigger tip
I felt it did!
Is that the stock turbo on it
I feel like if it was a weld on tip which someone should always get it would make more of a difference
1:22 vs 3:46
Ty sir
Are those venom hunter tires?
The same I was wondering 🤔
Sounds better with
Its a Ford f350 with the powerstroke 6.7.
I think without sounds better
I heard dual wall is good!
I have a 10 in on my 13 duramax makes a way way deeper growl
Echos sounds big time
Yeah turbo was more clear.
How do you get it to make the turbo spooling down sound when u let off??
Let off on the throttle all the way lol
This is what the turbos sound like on the 2011-2014 6.7 Powerstrokes. The 2015s and up don’t have that whistle let off sound.
About the same
better W/O
It’s pretty much a megaphone
Not that much to have spent over 100 bucks for it!
Sounds and looks worse with the tip
Why wouldn't it. Do you not know how sound works? Lmfao
First
No difference
