I like the whistle and sound of the 4" .
Both sound good, I just prefer the deeper tone of the 5”. But by all means, 4” sounds great as well!
I've seen the video about 10 times and the 2 exhausts sound great but in the end I win the 5-inch, it sounds incredible. excellent video
Thanks
I really enjoy your channel and truly appreciate your efforts in avoiding the use of curse words, Thank you! As for the exhaust, I like the 5" better. I too have a 06' LBZ 3500 crew cab long box. I ran a Magnaflow straight pipe system with no muffler in the beginning. I tow quite a bit and the exhaust drone was tiring on long trips. My solution was to install a 30" X 5" FTE resonator. Exterior size is 5" full length and the construction is a straight through design with only a swirl piece inserted on the inside (like an auger bit in shape). By doing this, the exhaust drone was eliminated and I still can enjoy the deep throaty sound of the 5" pipe. I drive commercial vehicles and have used resonators in many big rigs over the years, that in some cases, is how they can run tall stacks and no mufflers. Also as a side note, many truck parts supply houses have a very good selection of exhaust parts, ranging in sizes from 4"-10". I use a full wrap around exhaust band clamps. They have a much better seal and are about the same price as a quality U-bolt style clamp. Thanks for the great info on Duramax engines, keep up the good work!
+Sonny Balsemer that’s design sounds amazing that would be a cool patent to make some money I’m sure people would buy that thanks for the insight
Truck Master Thanks for your reply. This product is already available and has been for many years. Try Bob's Diesel Performance (BDP Parts) on eBay or Amazon. This product is available in stainless steel or standard metal. Check it out and maybe they'll give you a test unit. Interested in a possible product review from you, thanks ☝:-)
Ive got a 4 inch to 7 inch tip, the tip itself gave it some different sounds that are fun to play with
I remember when I first bought my duramax I was under it looking at it . And I thought 💭 to myself this is not a truck it’s a peace of equipment!! A super power tool not just a ride.
I have a 4” with a 10inch tip which looks pretty crazy but man when you step on it and it shifts down it sounds so good
Could you show it by chance if you still have it?
I got a lmm with 4” i love the wuhan war whistle sound the 4” makes and im thinkign bout just getting a bigger tip
@@demonwaker22 I’d have to look for some videos lol
Personally, I prefer the 4" exhaust. My 06 LBZ crew cab short bed has 4" ... Love the throaty sound and turbo goodness.
I think I like 5" with 8" Tip. Not being bias at all...
JW Montoya exactly what I’m running
5 inch with the 8 inch tip my friend
I love that 4" throaty sound
I have a 4 inch straight pipe, but If I do it over I want the 5 for sure. Sounds so nice.
5 INCH SOUNDS AMAZING!!!!
I run a 3inch mbrp downpipes with Mbrp 4inch exhaust and dumped it over the axle I don't like the look of the big tips so that being said the whistle noise is awesome no cabin drone and best part is the rear end doesn't look stupid with a 8inch tip.
I ran 4" straight to dual exit 7" tips and it was the best sounding
Definitely about to order the 5" straight pipe with 3" DP now. Great comparison video mate!
Josh wanna thank you for all your videos you do !
Thanks dave
I like the 5" better. I think you're right, 4" has more of a turbo sound, 5" is deeper and maybe louder. Both sound great, so it's just preference.
Adorable son you have there. I prefer the turbo whistle sound of the 4 “ exhaust.
+CirclePFarm thanks!
5’ sounds nice sounds like it’s breathing so freely
I have 4 inch with muffler. 8 ft bed 05 LLY 65mm stage 1 turbo. Up graded head bolts S&B cold air . I want to go with EFI live. But have super chip for now. 6inch lift 12.5x18x35s buckshot mudders. My first diesel love it a lot. Not finished until I can install second stage turbo. But first I need new injectors 60 over + and I need Fass lift pump 165. A work in progress for sure. Enjoy your channel thanks
I listen over and over, and the 5in is alot louder on the turbo
Love your videos brother always good unbiased content and information thank you I currently have a 4 but you have me wanting to get the 5 just to see the difference lol
Those down pipes are a pain in the ass to install
I like the 4" sound better.. thanks for the video. I'm debating what to put on my truck.
Everyone seems to lean with the 5inch but I personally like the 4 but they sound very close to me. I think I would have to hear it in person to know for sure. Great video tho
I'd choose the 4 inch over the 5. I like to hear the turbo
Love the 5 inch exhaust on my truck. The turbo was pretty loud stock but it’s even better with the Danville 3794va
Definitely the five in sounds great
Well I love the cackle of both the 4” and the 5” . Love that wastegate gate whistle pure testosterone all the way💪🏻
The only model with a wastegate was the LB7, LLY and beyond all have VVT so there's no wastegate, that's the turbo vanes you're hearing.
Well I’ll have you to know that I own a LLY
I've currently got an lly and l5p neither have a wastegate. Both are VVT lly is controlled by oil pressure and the L5P by electric. Maybe someone swapped your factory turbo not sure? Are you referring to our VGT as a wastegate? Do you have a picture of your wastegate?
def 5in with an 8in tip is best combo
I personally like the 5-inch because on my Klipsch sound system it sounds deeper and richer.. Thus the reason I have a 5 inch exhaust on my D-max.
I recognize the town you drove through!!! I live so close to you I can’t believe I’ve never seen you driving your truck around!!. I won’t mention the town for your privacy but that’s so cool Man , I would love to meet you
+jace hoskins sounds good man thanks
I like the 5 inch exhaust
LOve 5" exhaust alllllll the way!!
Both sound good. I like the sound of the turbo. Also, thanks for the cool stickers. I got mine in yesterday.
On my lbz I have a ppe 3in down pipe with a mbrp 4in straight pipe no cat and the end of the exhaust sits under the bed infant of the rear tire but hidden a bit
I am running a 5 inch downpipe all the way back to the rear axle then it splits into dual four-inch on my 2001 Cummins. It’s loud asf
So you had a 5 inch exhaust on there took it off and then put a four-inch on there is not going backwards because I’m looking for an exhaust for my 05 I just don’t know who to get and where to get I’m a little late to the game smile learning as I go
This thing sounds like a damn 747 preparing for take off
thank you for your video, my choice would be the one that gives the best performance? best fuel economy and least amount of cab noise. I bought a 2003 2500HD GMC crew cab long bed , with chip 4in exhaust and all the bells and whistles, stock 265 size tires, giving me 24 MPG in the economy mode on the chip !!! only thing i dont like is the cab noise and that the exhaust comes out before the tire and almost under the back door so driving with the windows down is not an option. especially on long trips and towing the horse trailer
4" sounds good
4 all day. I like the Turbo sound thanks for the video. I have a 04 crewcab and im deff going with the 4
I’m going back through your catalog of videos and I love seeing the evolution of you and the channel. Keep it up brother.
4 in is better maybe a 6 or 7 in tip though that one looks a little small
5 inch sounds great
I’d like to hear the difference while towing. I have a 4” with muffler and tow an 11,000 pound camper. Been thinking about the 5”. Just not sure
Lil guy to saucy that hair is fire. my boy got all the girls at daycare lol 5 inch sounds deeper. 4 inch is louder
4" all the way!
I have a 4 inch right now will switching to a 5 inch cause me to lose power or performance? The truck is stock besides Downpipe and exhaust.
I had 4 inch along time.
Last year I swapped out for 5 inch, omg! Why didn't I do this in the beginning?
Lb7 w/ 5 inch straight pipe and 6 inch tip.
👍
which one has the louder turbo whistle ?
@@treevus9898 5 inch.
If you want to hear LB7 turbo, swap out the mouth piece and get an HSP Cold Air Intake.
@@MrStaybrown expensive, but worth
I’m a 5in fan
hi truck master thank you for your videos it is help me to decide to what to put on my future truck not sure if it is gm or dodge are you planning to put on after market off road bumpers like home build from move bumpers or fab 4
How did u get rid of the Hiss at idle? Did u change turbos or what did u do. I’m trying to get mine to sound like yours
4in to the axle then dual 5 in smoker kit best of both worlds
5 inch with tip sounds the best
How do you make the turbo whistle out the exhaust I have a 2003 lb7 4 inch straight piped
Have you run the 4 and 5” exhausts for a period of time to determine any differences in bottom end spool or mpgs on one over the other?
4" but I'm bias cause just put 4" on my truck lol
I like the 5"
4 inch sounded more rumble. Kinda mean sound. I think there both about equal too though. I could be wrong me personally I don’t think I would more than 5 inch.
Ive got the same exhaust that you use to have on yours on my lbz 3 inch mbrp downpipe and 5 inch magnaflow straight pipe and i like the deeper tone
04Snopro f7 can u still hear the turbo good with the 5 inch?
I live for the turbo noises. Coming from a highly modified twin turbo daily driver - the turbo noises are just next level on a diesel.
5" All Day every day
Hey you’re from Michigan that’s awesome! Where about?
So I have a stock lb7... I want your opinion! I like the turbo whistle a lot but I like the deep throaty (👈🏼 ha) sound like the 5”
Michael Leonard get a 4.5”.... lollll
You should make a logo and as a decal, id buy.
Great question Truck Master. Anyone else have comments on sound in the cab for the 5"? I have a 2015.5 LML and I'm leaning towards the 4" to avoid highway drone. I like the sound of the 5, but not at the cost of a drone. 5" with muffler?...
I’m not sure but I plan to do some sound videos this summer with the truck I will add that to the list
@@TruckMaster Gotcha. My family and I will be headed back home to MI this summer. That's when I'll be losing some parts. You're not too far from where I grew up (north of GR). GDP any good?
Not to sure I never felt with them but I’m in the Lansing area
I find the stainless steel aspect makes the sound better than the aluminized alloy(or whatever) And I prefer the 5 inch sound.
Interesting
Which would give you more turbo noise on a LB7, a 4in or 5in?
Honestly with a stock down pipe the 4 inch sounds better, but with the downpipe the 5 inch just sounds way throatier
Does anyone know of a in front of passenger wheel DPF-back 5” pipe that Ys off to dual tip for 2023 3500HD AT4? Can shops just create this on their own?
Check out banks Power
5" all the way
I have a super 44 3 inch pipe with a 4 inch turn down right behind the passenger side. My question to u is sir I have a gaser truck it sounds great but should I put a tip on it ? Does the tip make a difference? No homo..
Warren Albuna just sell it and get a duramax. Then worry about a tip.
What all do you have done to that truck?
4 inch for sure
I have 4 inch. Not straight pipe tho. U could hear the stock turbo tho.
I like the 4 inch it’s louder . 5 inch is deeper but I hate how some people say the 4 inch has more turbo sound but the 5 inch is deeper and louder lol. Deeper is not louder raspier is louder so 4 inch is louder 5 inch is deeper. Smaller exhaust is louder just like a gas engine. 2 inch is louder than 3 inch 2 inch raps like crazy.
Is there a tube on the truck ?
wich one w more power
I like the 5 best. but it all depends on the drone in the cab driving it.
Kenneth Law 5 inch doesn’t drone much I think my 4inch had more cabin noise
Hey man just wanted to here your thoughts. I know you've switched back and forth from 4 to 5. After having both for awhile what one would you say has the best sound. Im trying to make up my mind on what I want for my bone stock lbz. I want to hear the turbo more and would like a deeper tone but also don't want a lot of drone. The truck is somewhat my daily and I drive 2 to 3 hrs a day
What’d you end up going with?
What tune are you running?
What’s better MBRP or FloPro ?
Great videos!! Keep it up
Does the spare tire still fit?
2:3 man what was that lol
Can u put a 4 inch exhaust on a Chevy 3500hd
i guess Id have to say 5" .... close though
5" by far sounds better. I run a 4" mid pipe and 5" out the back. My 5" is louder than when I had just a 4" but I don't think its much louder in the cab.
Your the best bro
I prefer to keep my low end torque.. unless you have it tuned to 500+ no need for the 5inch
is there any need to run stock when you can run 500hp? simple tune gains can boost to 500 easy! 700hp sounds better!
What size lift ? 20x12 on 33s?
Did your boost change at all
I like the 4 inch exhaust better.
How's the cab drone for the 4 inch?
What cab lights do you have?
I like the 5 inch exhaust better
i got a 2003 lb7, 4 inch straight pipe, what do you suggest for tuners?
Ez link
What size tip is that you have with the 5” exhaust
