I’m retired after a 45 year career in industry. Lisa reminds me of typical management style prevalent at the beginning of my career. I saw management by threats and intimidation and disciplinary actions. That paradigm has undergone a change in most successful organizations starting in the late 90’s and early 2000’s to one of leadership promoting the values espoused by this CEO. In some steel mills where I worked the title of supervisors in production and maintenance has been replaced with facilitators, trained to provide training and tools to front line workers, encouraging them to drive decisions to them and supporting them and replacing adversarial relationships with open communications and mutual feedback. Old style managers were skeptical at the changes being instituted. They either changed to flow with them, or were replaced by those who embraced them.

Expecting anyone to be efficienta nd no applause? BULL! Expecting any worker to be invisible? BULL! It's always too much to ask no matter how simple it sounds to the expecter, and no matter how "nicely" you ask! Berating employees NEVER makes instructions any clearer to them no matter how simple you think they are!
