    Was in a store in Toronto today and a guy came in to buy the Andy Wood model. Just letting you know. Hung with Albert 2 weeks ago He smiles and effortlessly kills it. no ego. Marc Ford there too. Andy you are a monster. Tip… slow down and break it down into small chunks. Repeat about 6 slow times.Teaching tip: Small repetitive lessons. Been trying to play for 60 years.
    Thank you.

    For those of us who started out listening, first, to the Beatles, and then went straight into progressive rock, I missed the blues influence early on, and had it not been for my discovery of Steve Morse, with his chickin' pickin' , honky tonk and assorted Southern-isms, I don't think I would have heard it at all. So now, as a very late starter, I would like to learn it.

    Andy should have been playing in the Early to Middle/Late 70's when we did not have tuners, real Archiac/Dinosaury. We used pitch pipes/tuning forks and or Keyboard players if ya could get one in your Band, they were always Tough, wanted to be PAID all the time. I also used to tune to Records too. Now it's SNARKS on headstocks. LOL.

    It seems like I fight with the pick and the strings - is that a symptom of holding the pick to tight or the angle of the pick or both? I like watching you and Troy Grady but can't seem to get that fluidty of moving in and out of the strings without issue or hitting more than one string at a time. How much flexshould you have when holding the pick - I know alot of questions but would like to solve this.

    I've been playing with 12 52s, chrome flat wound for 10 years. I really don't want to compromise my tone with lighter strings. But I'd like to get be able to get those triad bends without having to use three fingers on my G to get a full step. Any suggestions on blending string gauges? If only on the G and B?

    Wow, your playing sounds really nice. I would like to however point out the this is not beginner. Is there any chance that we can get a lesson on say... just the little lick that you were going over but about 10x slower (In the neighborhood of Retirement village speed) I think it would be best to be able to know how to just super accurately play the lick and over time pick up our speed and other skills. That would be so much appreciated. Especially for us super old beginners learning it correctly right from the start would be best approach. thx again

      @@tswpedals I don't really believe in the words 'bad' and 'good'. That said, I like music to be for everyone - not just those who've bought into the unhealthy lifestyle choices of some artists and celebrities. To me, the days of Rock n Roll being the devil's music and rockstars dying of OD's are over, at least the glamor part of it. I want to see kids and religious people included also. Music is life, life-affirming and alcohol is the opposite. If you want to drink, that's on you but please do it on your own time in the privacy of your home or a bar. I started playing music when I was 8 and guitar when I was 10 - a very impressionable age. Seeing rampant alcoholism probably contributed to my negative choices as a young adult and I think it's irresponsible for someone with a fully-developed brain to flash that kind of nonsense in front of the young and conservative.

      But on your channel/videos ' acoustic for drunks' what's up with the thumbnail pictures?
      What kinda message does that send to society, especially kids?
      BTW' I would have swore those were pictures of my grandma.
      Also sorry for using the word SWORE.

    • @Hexspa

      What kind of message do you think it sends? I don't make content for children. How many kids do you know who are interested in acoustic analysis or are drunks for that matter?
      But, for what it's worth, I've given up on telling people not to drink. As you seem to prove, drinkers will defend their poison to the death. So be it.@@BryanClark-gk6ie

    This is NOT for beginners mate. So typical of guitar heros to give a 3 second explanation of what youre aiming for and then get lost in their own genius showing examples of what you can do after 15 years practise. Dont say " you wanna develop a pattern where you arent getting tied up".. SHOW people the pattern. SHOW dont TELL. Jesus

    You know it's one thing to say you're teaching for beginners and another to set and show off for almost an hour. And I'm sure a true beginner is sitting there with the wtf look on their face. If you add up your time of actually teaching this video it wouldn't be 5 minutes long.

    • @andywoodmusic
      @andywoodmusic  7 месяцев назад +2

      Here’s a refund for the free content.
      Beginner=doesn’t equal being spoon fed tabs like a weak child. Use the rewind feature, sit. Practice. Do it again. Didn’t learn it? Watch it again. Repeat.
      Here’s your beginner lesson= it’s not easy and it’s never gonna be handed to you, but what I’m doing here is giving you an hour of my time going thru plenty of ideas to chew on.

    • @andywoodmusic
      @andywoodmusic  7 месяцев назад +3

      I sound like a douche here- maybe I am- but thinking on this makes me wanna clarify a few points.
      Beginner country guitar does not equal not knowing how to play guitar at all and having no foundation. I’m tying things to foundations someone might have as a blues or rock guy.
      Secondly, I’m obviously very passionate about teaching, I make hours and hours of free content every week that includes livestreams like this, creating patches to give to my patreons on the axe fx. Masterclasses, and videos. I wanna see people succeed on the instrument but…
      Here is the ugly part- there’s no download or plug in or tutorial that’s gonna replace listening to the genre of music you’re interested in learning and practicing. RUclips has built in speed control, what more could you want or need? I (along with every player that drew a breathe before RUclips) sat with albums and hit rewind over and over again trying to learn something some freak show player like Brent Mason or EVH or EJ is doing at lightspeed.
      The truth is RUclips (as much as I LOVE it) has made many people entitled. And your comment embodies that.
      Sorry if you didn’t assimilate it on the first viewing but maybe youre supposed to put forth effort to achieve goals and not rely on someone to HAND it to you. Music just doesn’t work like that.
      Musical journey is a race track and it never ends and we are all at different spots on it. I wanna help, but you have to be willing to put in the effort. You’ll be a better player, I promise.

      Be patient man. You might need to master other concepts and techniques before jumping on this. Be realistic and embrace your current stage in your guitar evolution. Social media has made us believe that anything below virtuosity is bad playing. Don't believe in that sh*t, but don't give up practicing and learning what great guitarists have to teach us. As Andy is saying, slow down the video if you need it, and if you just feel these lessons are not for you YET, you can come back later because the video will still be here.
