    Absolutely phenomenal lesson….the way you teach and explain the notes scales and chords and how they relate to each other and how you got about mentally thinking about these things is exactly what we all need to learn…and you do it at the perfect speed so you keep the lesson moving forward without bogging down and over explaining anything…I would honestly say this is the best lesson I’ve seen taught about country style guitar I’d ever seen

    Love this type of old school country guitar as opposed to the modern country 'shredders'who exhaust the ears after 30 secs. Beautiful tasteful playing . Great lesson, thank you. 👍

      To keep it interesting though it does help to change speeds in the middle of phrasings, it's all about how you make your patchwork solos with memorized licks sprinkled in, and eventually you will be gliding over all the place with muscle memory riffs as you find out what works where, and when, especially playing through chord changes and accentuating the 5ths,7ths, root notes, and it just helps you become a better improv player.

    As an old guy coming back to the guitar from many years away (what was I thinking??) this has been quite difficult for me. But I have a suitable partscaster and I dug this the minute I heard it so why not. Almost have it all the way through committed to memory. Now to get up to tempo and get the phrasing down. Thanks Alex for a super lesson!

    I discovered this channel completely by scrolling accident. "Sleepwalk" was the most tasteful thing I had heard taught (I knew the melody but thought the Ventures had written it). Now this twangy country is what I grew up with (native and resident Texan) before rock and it's so fun to learn more. I have 2 tele's.
    Your teaching makes me so aware of my limitations, knowing what notes make up each key, and knowing where each note on the neck is. Hope I have the memory for it, it makes a big difference.

    Excellent video, Alex. Love the variety in your choice of music. You have really nailed that classic Telecaster country guitar sound! My favorite players go back to the era of Don Rich with Buck Owens, James Burton with Ralph Mooney, and Clarence White on the Byrds "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo" album who introduced the sound of the B-Bender. Currently Marty Stuart owns and plays White's original B-Bender, and Marty and his sideman Kenny Vaughan are two of the best playing today. Playing this style of guitar and "getting it right" is not easy, as virtuosos like James Burton and Albert Lee demonstrate.

    What a wonderful way to begin my Saturday morning! Before my coffee was even finished dripping, I'd already plugged my Strat (I don't own a Telecaster!) into my Deluxe Reverb, added a touch of light overdrive and slapback echo (courtesy of the Electro Harmonix Hot Wax & Echo pedals) and tuned up my guitar in anticipation of playing along with your video!!! I'm convinced, Alex, that in addition to Louis's little comfy furry Igloo, you actually have your own full-sized Igloo...only yours is modded to be a Time Machine, which you use to journey back through the past, playing on thousands of sessions which span musical history!!! 🤣 You really are the consummate Session Player...Jazz, Country, Rock...there is no style you haven't mastered!!! You won't be able to convince me otherwise that it's ACTUALLY YOU playing on all of my favorite records!!!! 🤣. I'm totally stealing that reverse rake Danny Gatton pedal steel lick btw!!! So tasty!!! Your Tele sounds AMAZING here!!! It has a lovely transparent, almost acoustic tone...it almost sounds double-tracked, with one mic on the amp and the other on the guitar unplugged!!! "I'm making a B-line for the major third here" LOL!!!!! 😂 If this whole guitar thing doesn't work out, you can always fall back on your immense Stand Up Comedy talents!!!!!!! 🤣. What an absolutely wonderful lesson and video!!!! Thank you so very much, Alex!!!!!

    Lovely sound on that amp. Makes me feel like I'm strolling past a music hall in Nashville. I've bought a Tele player recently but swapped the noiseless bridge pickup (which is essentially a stacked humbucker in spirit) to a 50's Broadcaster seymour duncan. Sounds great through my line 6 Helix fender amps. But open to any suggestions from anyone here on any Tele Country amp sims?? To test 👍❓

    Absolutely classic riffs! In the intro demonstration, did you have the guitar's tone control wide open? I find that a more pleasing, classic Tele bridge pickup country lead sound can be achieved by backing off the tone control (about 90 degrees in the case on my red Tele). I disconnected the neck pickup from the tone control, as I prefer that one wide open.

      Thanks buddy, glad you liked it. For this one the volume and tone controls were wide open 👍🏻

    That's just simply outstanding playing Alex, I mean I know nothing but what I hear and 'see' is sort of like writing and itss speed or tempo speaks to phrasing and these little groupings or chunks that seem to fall into place like a puzzle comes together. Like I said Alex I know nothing but Idk why but it just falls together somehow for me. I'm going on the hunt for more chords with the accompanying notes almost call and response sort of stuff. Anyway I'll shut up and quit proving that I know nothing, (Just like the philosopher said all those years ago).

    Great Video, Alex! As usual. I especially like the short stab ending. However, I cannot play it the way Alex does. The first two are no problem, but I always have to stop and think how to arrange my fingers for the final E with the bend up to the 3rd. Anyone else have this mental blockage as well? I find it more intuitive and my my hand lands easier when I use my first 3 fingers on the top 3 strings at the 11th, 12th and 12th and then use my index finger to bend up to the major 3rd. I am also playing 9s, so that may be why it works for me. just curious. cheers!

      @AlexFarranGuitar  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks buddy, glad you enjoyed the lesson. There are a few good reasons I would recommend persevering with the orthodox way of fingering that last bend.. but.. if it’s absolutely impossible and you see no way it’ll improve with daily, methodical practice, then there’s no harm in adapting it and using your alternate fingering. All depends how far you want to take this stuff as there are many licks born out of that one bend that require it to be played with the original fingering. 👍🏻

    Thanks for the lesson. I have a question regarding amp sounds. I just purchased Amplitube 5 and got the Fender Collection 1 along with it during a sale. I'm wondering what the recommended Amp would be for this kind of sound. I DO have a telecaster. But what do people usually use amp wise for this style? thanks

    • @AlexFarranGuitar
      @AlexFarranGuitar  6 месяцев назад

      I don’t have any hands on experience with that setup, but I’m certain it’ll have some kind of “Black panel Fender” style setting.. twin reverb, deluxe reverb or the like would be ideal 👌🏻
