I have to give you credit Mr. Khalid, you dit a great job explaining how and why human smuggling works. At the end of the day, it is human nature. Everyone is incentivized to make it work. Great observation. My only problem with the whole talk is your conclusions. They seem to be missing logic and sometimes even contradict your observations. For example “you make a great argument about how sending your son to a 1st world country seems to be the BEST investment a poor family can make to improve there economical situation by doubling their household income every year. But then at the end of your talk one of your conclusion and solution is to educate these poor families that this is a risky investment in order to stop them from sending their relatives to 1st world countries. I’m sorry, but I just don’t see how you rationalized this to be your best solution. Taking into account what you had said the first 14 minutes of your talk I would argue that the best solution to help these people would be to help them get to our 1st world countries safer and faster. Not only would this be a great way to eliminate poverty for them but at the same time we would also benefit from it, right? I quote minute 13:25 “we benefit too, across the range everyone is incentivize to make it work”. If we were able to solve the problem of the dangerous journey these people have to take to get here, it seems to me that the only two other problems listening to your talk would be the minimum wage and the bad perception people have towards some low skill jobs. But who cares about minimum wage and what people think about your job when you are doubling your families household income and taking your self and your family out of poverty.
Sorry, I just realized something. I though you where trying to solve the bigger problem of immigration and smuggling but now I see that your are only interest is in stoping smuggling.

Totally right, it is a network and unfortunately many people win something even if they are not aware off (yes, we might go a restaurant where a person is working for a low salary and/or in very bad conditions!!). We need to have a society conscious if we want to save lives =, if we want to reduce weapon informal sales and if we want to live in peace accepting an sharing other cultures... Let us think about this problem, with a open-mind and open-heart
