    Yup, no one talks about run-ahead for some reason, and everyone dismisses these older games because "it's overkill". I haven't noticed input lag using a mini hdmi.
    I have a few Saturn games on it. So far Castlevania: Symphony of the Night works wonderfully.

    Nice overview, its definitely the best value handheld out there in terms of capabilities and cost. And probably the best out there for people not looking to make a huge investment but get some decent power. But price wise I've actually gone the other way as I was an early backer of the Odin pro. But once I got the taste for those higher end systems running better I couldn't stop. Picked up a £280 Lenovo legion x70 SD gen 1 gaming phone and seeing Dolphin and Citra and PS2 run near flawlessly at 3/4X on a 144z OLED is just glorious. Not sure I can return to anything less now.

    I think my only complaint is the D-Pad. The D-Pad is fantastic for most games, but when it comes to fighting games, especially ones where you need to perform moves quickly like Marvel vs Capcom 2, this D-Pad just isn't optimal. I find that I drop shoryuken motions and half circle motions on this D-Pad.

    For PS2 games that even do work on a performance level, wouldn't the lack of pressure sensitive face buttons hinder the experience? For example, like slowly lowering gun in MGS2 and MGS3, passing slower and more accurately in Pro Evolution Soccer 2, or controlled deceleration in Gran Turismo 3.
    I'm also not convinced this actually has analogue triggers for remapping those PS2 games either. No analogue triggers could surely affect the accuracy with the Gamecube standard triggers as well?
    Or even for Xbox pass steaming, would the non-analogue triggers input be bad for driving games on that?

    • @thegamelounge659
      @thegamelounge659  Год назад +3

      The RP3/RP3+ have digital triggers. So you are right remapping is not an option. With the few PS2 games that both work and utilise this. You are going to lose part of the experience from that side. But if it is PS2/GC emulation you are looking for this is not the device.
      That being said I played a lot of Dreamcast racing games (the Dreamcast had analogue triggers) and the experience was great. Also played Forza Horizon 5 through game streaming and it was more than playable. I guess it comes down to your tolerance levels for this. Personally it wasn’t a major issue for me. Even though they are digital they feel great.

    I'm going to buy a handheld for a Christmas/Birthday for myself. I'm on a budget. This is one that is one my list to consider. I also like the Trimui smart pro. Still not sure it's got to have Wi-Fi. I want PS2 but it is not necessary. I got a PSP had for more than 10 years and still working great I had replaced the screen 2 times ( my fault)and M19 I got from Ali express a few months ago. M19 is not bad for the $35. I'm willing to spend $200. Hopefully less. If any has any ideas reply

    • @thegamelounge659
      @thegamelounge659  8 месяцев назад +1

      So the RP3+ has just dropped to $135 because the RP4 is coming. Personally I’d all my handhelds the RP3+ is the one I played the most this year. It’s a perfect PSP machine. The RP4 and RP4 Pro will be $150 and $200, the base model will feature a faster processor than the 3 as well as Hall sensor sticks, and analogue triggers. So Dreamcast, PS2 and GameCube will be a much better experience but it won’t do all GC/PS2 perfectly (maybe 70% of the games). The RP4 will have a significantly better processor and more RAM so in terms of future proofing it’s the one I would get but right at the top end of your budget.
      Either way months after posting this video I still love the device and PS2 has many game that really work well. I have played a ton of Silent Hill 2 on it recently.

    Love this video, and you've got me pretty sold on this device.
    It's worth noting though if you just plug a PlayStation into a modern TV, you are NOT seeing it how it looked back in the 90s.
    Modern HDTV's do not understand how to handle a '240p' signal and it will look way more jacked than it did on a CRT.
    Not even talking about scanlines and dithering etc, just straight up signal miscommunication between these devices.
