    Reasons I like Wulff Den
    1. Comes off as completely practical, and down to earth.
    2. Product reviews don't contain a lot of emotional fluff. He won't try and hype a product just because he likes it (even when he likes it a lot)
    3. Is not a "weird" retro gamer. Trust me when I say that there are a LOT of weird retro gamers out there. Wulff curses, and he just comes off as completely likable and not awkward.
    4. Casual review formats are far too rare... he provides something I am missing when I watch a lot of other reviews.
    5. His ads are hilarious.
    6. Production quality is through the roof in my opinion. I don't know how he manages that camera quality. Highlights the items, and even frames himself quite nicely - and it's all cohesive what?
    7. He doesn't seem to give a tilt towards any company provided items in his reviews.
Overall Wulff just makes good content, and it gives me what I'm looking for. I enjoy watching his reviews all the way through because he is very thorough while also just telling it like it is. There's not a lot of lingering on inconsequential details, or highlighting things that most people won't even care that much about.
Very happy I found this dudes channel.

I brought up in the chat that THIS should just have been the 3 instead of the 3 being a 2+, and was basically met with a resounding "just don't buy it" which is just like..... okay? I haven't bought it, and it still doesn't change that this device is dumb and has less of a reason to be made compared to the 2+ which was a reasonable upgrade.

    • @fruitloops7064
      @fruitloops7064 Год назад +6

@@corsinivideos the thing with RP3+ vs Odin is that the Odin is noticeably more expensive and more importantly way less portable. RP3+ is vita sized as opposed to the Odin being switch-sized which means that the former can be pocketed pretty comfortably and is easy to travel. Odin has to genuinely compete with the steam deck in comparison due to its price approaching that device AND not being pocketable just like the Steam Deck despite being noticeably smaller.
RP3+ smaller size and generally considered better screen (according to most people who own both) and better pixel density makes it way better than the Odin for pre-GC emulation too as it gives you a way to play a massive catalogue that is very light-weight and good looking. They're different devices that cover different niches, that is why Retroid and AYN have been rumored to be working together for awhile.

I have to be the RP3+ apologist here. I had a RP2+, and the RP3+ is a significant improvement - sold it and never looked back. I understand the RP3/3+ arguments and issues, and acknowledge the shady practice. But if you did not have a RP3, the 3+ is a fantastic, capable device that can still play more GC/PS2 games (yes, albeit with tinkering), N64 and Dreamcast upscaled and Widescreen, and PSP reliably at upscaled resolutions. I love mine, and have been playing PS2 and GC games I never played before - enjoyably. Thank you for acknowledging it is a good device, despite the company's bad consumer practices.

But I want to mention that nobody's perfect and even big tech companies make a lot of strange or bad decisions and then don't do anything about it for ages. So I think Retroid's actions here are definitely not good, but at least they kinda tried to do something.
And RP3+ is a really decent device. I've got it for 1,5x of it's price (because of some logistics issues I can't buy it directly from official site and that overpriced listing was the only option to get it) and I'm still pretty happy with it. So this thing is the absolute perfect device for playing all of my favorite super retro games. "Plus", I've been on the wave of RetroAchievements since discovering it in 2016. To be honest I'm glad that the Retroid Pocket 3+ exists. It eliminates the constant struggle I had of plugging in my Razer Kishi / Dualsense / Bluetooth (anything) into my phone, and that's all I could ask for. I feel like most devices that come with a preorder/ waitlist come with their own problems. I fixed my own steamdeck trigger when my preorder came in because, at the time, RMA time was a big mystery. But the steamdeck has replacement parts and guids to help with the basic repairs now. These Chinese handhelds are very much "E-waste tech" in the sense that they are GREAT when they work, but not always repairable easily and often require a full replacement especially by the average user. Any handheld manufacturer that provides extra parts, OR good RMA, OR their product is mostly standard off the shelf parts, or ANY of these in some kind of combination will always get my vote. One nice thing about Retroid is they are seemingly providing at least one upgrade per "shell" or "chassis" so that if your unit breaks you might still be able to replace or upgrade your systems main board.

I know this is comparable to the Anbernic Rg505 which I have and I would say the PS2 emulation is a lot better than I expected! But it depends on the game. Rpgs and horror games run more than well enough most of the time, but more action focused games are gonna be in slow motion or just not work. Contra Shattered Soldier, Gradius V and Fatal Frame II have been my favorite games so far. Persona 4 also works well enough but has audio issue

RP3 launches with know issues, and we know that if there's a RP2 PLUS, the chances of having a RP3 PLUS were almost certain, at least to the point of waiting a while to see, as I did. I don't like that many products being launched in sequence, other companies do exactly that, but the issue is with Retroid for some reason.
I think the best course of action for Retroid would be launching the RP3 Plus as simply the RP3 on october 18th, then launching the RP3 as something like RP3s, after reviewing their faulty units.

I got the RP3+ to replace a RP2. I never really loved the rp2 because it was too small screenwise to play most of the more modern games and the non touchscreen drive me nuts. I think this will last a good while, I don't think I'd bother upgrading until a cheap device can do Wii properly, perhaps a future Ayn device. Tbh - I'd just love a hacked switch lite.

Every time I go to buy A Handheld With buttons attached. I always see the one I want and almost get it. But I compare the price with a new tablet for the same price. Compare the process And the specs. And I always end up just getting A 8 inch tablet or 7 inch If I could find them. They are more powerful And I'm greatly surprised when I make it a steam deck like thing. How much I can do on it .I can natively play PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360😊 And everything below Natively on A 8 inch tablet. With a controller attachment. That makes it look like a switch. Did I mention I can play Switch games too.😊

Figured I would replace with the conductive buttons, as dealing with Customer Service was terrible. They completely sent me the wrong shit. Well, when I went to grab the right side button board, they had mistakenly sent two left side button boards. WTF? Ridiculous. I mentioned this to Customer Service. It went no where. They were useless.

I ordered the Retroid Pocket 3+ on Dec 26th and it shipped from the factory on Dec 31st. So they must be caught up. I am guessing it will take about 2 weeks to ship from China to US. This will be my first handheld emulator, if I get a lot of use out of it, I will likely upgrade to whatever is top-of-the-line in a year or two. But this should get me into handheld emulation without committing too much money upfront.
Hopefully I don't regret not going for the Odin Pro instead......

When you were recommending this handled device for 2021 and last year. Looks great but always afraid of being burned for buying the “inferior” product before a new one gets released two months after the last device. Got a Steam Deck last year and been quite happy I’ll most likely stay clear away from Retroid products due to their frequent quaintly over quality. Furthermore, Taki Udon’s video about RP3 being a lackluster product that was essentially a cash grab. For anyone getting into emulation this is a decent product but you could honestly get a decent personal laptop or tablet and get the same results. Keep doing what you’re doing Bob!

I've been flirting with the idea of getting this thing for a couple weeks. PS2 and Gamecube emulation are the benchmark I'm looking for. Some reviewers say it can emulate PS2 just fine, others say it's unplayable. I would go for the Odin, but I not sure about spending that much money on something that I would still have to wait an unknown amount of time on. My best bet is probably just to wait for the next iteration of the Pocket.

Sonic Heroes plays flawlessly on GameCube emulator as does Kingdom Hearts 2 on PS2 emulator w very minor slowdown at some points. Their entire libraries may not be 100% but the least you can do is try if there are some games you'd like to reexperience from your childhood.

Only downside after buying these 2, I could've bought the Ayn Odin already 🤦🏿‍♂️ but had know clue about it. Well it's a great handheld, pick and choose, you don't have to always listen to famous people, I loved the rp3+ and I rarely live anything. Retroid's customer service is TOTAL dogshit. Also, I bought the upgrade kit for the 3+. The whole idea is that you get a separate console using the 3's PCB and can have a TV console. Problem is, it doesn't even work. The PCB isn't designed to work without a screen attached to the board (not the HDMI port). They just kind of don't tell you that.

Have you not followed all electronics manufacturers? Sure, most wait more than a few months before revealing the better one, but believe me, they have it planned and waiting to go. It sucks, but it is standard operating procedure. Be wise with your money, folks. These companies want all of it, and more
