VoicePlay is very creative. Their arrangements are really out of pocket and we love it! 😂 Sometimes they just go off and this was definitely one of those. I was all hyped up and ready to head to war! They killed a cover of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" earlier this year too.
Also, Geoff, the bass, can sing all the way up to tenor. He's a complete freak of nature! He has a solo channel where he's basically his own Acapella group. It's wild!

miracleofsound listened/watched this cover and posted this comment. Voiceplay pinned it at the top of the comments

Well done, lads. Definitely one of the more creative covers I've heard! I rate it ten raised alehorns out of ten 🤘
Voiceplay is an independent group, no label, no management, complete artistic control over everything they do. It also means that they don't get the publicitya and recognition they deserve.
From left to right, Layne Stein, beatboxer, Cesar de la Rosa, baritone joined in 2021, J None, baritone, was a member from 201 to 2021 when the US Navy recruitd him to sing for them, Eli (ellie) Jacobson, rock tenor and responsiblefor lighting and effects, including designing the backdrops for this, which weregiant led screens, Geoff Castellucci, bass.
Layne and Geoff take turns doing the arrangements, this one was Layne. Geoff did their arrangement of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters a couple of months ago. You will probably enjoy that.
Enjoyed your reaction, am subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay!

They previously did a cover of My Mother Told Me when J was still a regular member and they had a different guest artist. In My Mother Told Me, Eli (bald tenor) was a beserker. He obviously has recruited the whole group now.
A lot of the costuming and makeup is from My Mother Told Me. Among their tattoos are runes spelling out VoicePlay.
I really like that J came in partway like he was returning home to his family of VoicePlay.
Eli did the amazing backgrounds using Unreal Engine (used in games and film for background). It was filmed, not green screen, but at a studio with immense (Full wall!) LED screens. It was 90° in Florida that day and the air conditioning in the studio was broken and they were all dressed in leather and fur!
The music in the outro is the karaoke track - just the percussion and the background vocal. It could be a piece on its own because it’s also gorgeous.
Unlike PTX and Home Free, VoicePlay does not have a record label. So everything they do themselves unless they need intricate make up or in this case to rent a very specialized studio. They do send the audio track out for a final mix to Ed Boyer who also does the mixing for the other two well-known a cappella groups.
By the way, if you like bass you should probably check out The Bass Gang. It is four bass singers who have never yet met. Two live in separate areas of the United States, one in the Czech Republic and one in Egypt. They also frequently have guest artists with them including Tim Foust of Home Free most recently. My personal favorite is Yellow Flicker Beat with Colm McGuinness (another amazing bass) and Centuries, with Jonathan Young, is also amazing.

VoicePlay is the most creative acapella group out there! They often utilize costumes, sets, makeup, special lighting, etc. to enhance their videos. Of course, the vocals are alwaye incredible. You should check out Hoist the Colours, Warriors, Carry On Wayward Son, Nothing Else Matters (yes, Metallica!), and oh, so many more! And the base, Geoff Castellucci, has his own channel of amazing solo work: Sixteen Tons, House of the Rising Sun, The Sound of Silence, Ain't No Sunshine, Man of Constant Sorrow (his most recent).

Geoff is the bass. Layne is the vocal/ beatboxer. Eli is tenor that has a bit Rock, Cesar is the our one in this and Jay None was in the group but is in the Navy so when he was home having a wedding with his partner and friends when they did this. They do a few covers also they have done ACA Top 10 stuff. Like the oogie bogie song from the movie Nightmare before Christmas. They other they had in the group is called Earl and Tony.

Miracle Of Sound posted on VoicePlays' channel and gave them 10 Ale Horns out of 10 for the most creative cover they had seen. VoicePlay did another Viking song "My Mother Told Me" They have also been Pirates with their cover of Hoist The Colours. As you can see they are #TheatreKidsOfACapela. Geoff Castellucci the bass has his own channel and does Low bass covers. Not sure who Down Home is unless you are referring to Home Free with Tim Foust the bass. He and Geoff both have long hair and the same gray streek.

Lets just say you should hear the Jaws theme, as the Voiceplay fans like me overwhelm you with suggestions for other songs to check. Geoff (pronounced Jeff) is the superbass, although the B0 you hear here is his normal lowest note he can sing about 5 octaves peaking out at C5 or a bit higher. As to his drawing it out and adding more base that really needed, the group consider it one of their trademarks, and will almost always include some parts. The beatboxer (Lanye) is the main arranger and does a lot of the artistic details, while Eli (Pronounced like Jelly) the rock sounding singer is the main graphics guy in this one. To understand what we look for from Geoff, the best song is Oogie Boogies song from about 3 years ago. For hearing more of what Eli can do, check Nothing Else Matters, which they posted a bit over a month ago.

Layne (beatbox) arranged this and I think the idea was for Geoff (bass) to sound like a war horn. Geoff frequently does much more acrobatic bass lines as well. Check out Nothing Else Matters or Enemy as an example.

The 2 groups appeared on the sing off together some years back and the know each other and have some collaborations with individual members ❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This one was arranged by Layne the vocal percussionist... When he arranges, he likes to push Geoff (bass) out of his comfort zone and vice versa when Geoff arranges... .. A lot of VP fans are here because of Geoff's bass.... A lot of us are here because we love what VP does as a whole including long drawn out notes.... It's a lot easier to jump in and back out again quickly... more difficult to sustain a low full note for so long... There are rumours he's not human......
Layne and Geoff share the arranging pretty much 50/50 and whoever does the arranging does the majority of the video/editing etc. Lighting is done by Eli (ellee) .. Make up and mixing are done by Rick Underwood and Ed Boyer , who are both well known in their field..... Geoff arranged/edited/costumed etc the last video, Nothing else matters (Metallica) that's def worth a listen. He also has his own channel for low bass singer covers. Having recently done Sound of Silence and Man of Constant Sorrow... Not every reactor, nor every listener going to like everything, but on the whole this group have gone from being brilliant to phenomenal. (in my humble opinion)... When I saw VP were taking on metal songs I was sceptical as I've grown up and been pretty much blinded by metal all my life to the exclusion of pretty much everything else... I only came across VP a couple of years ago while looking for Disney to occupy grandkids and found VP's Disney medleys..... I love their creativeness and how they throw themselves completely into their work.. They are known as the theatre kids of a cappella... They make it more interesting and fun... Anyone can stand on a spot on the ground and take instruction from a record company that is paying your wages.... Voiceplay are independent and videos are paid via patreon.. They have the ability to make up their own minds on the direction they go...

      In My Room was February..
      Golden Hour was March.
      This in April.
      Seven Nation Army in May.
Thursday they posted their new video on their patreon. That should be coming to RUclips a week from Friday.
Geoff's new video will be posted on RUclips this Friday, the 9th.
He brought back the 4 dwarves from his video Misty Mountain Cold.

    Great reaction.
They reprised their characters from their video "My Mother Told Me".
Voiceplay is an amazing independent Acapella group. They're known as both "The Theater Kids of Acapella" and "The Kings of Halloween" because of their love of dressing up and performing. Every video has a theme to match the song.
    Left to right....
    Layne Stein - Beatboxer/Baritone/Arrangements.
Cesar De La Rosa - Baritone/Tenor.
    J None - Guest/Former Member/Baritone.
Eli (elly) Jacobson - Tenor)Rock Tenor.
    Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - Bass/Arrangements.
Geoff has his own channel as well where he sings solo. Non Acapella.
His last video was "Man of Constant Sorrow".
They both have so many awesome videos to choose from.
Voiceplay, Geoff and Pattycake Productions are the only ones I watch reactions to.

Geoff is a low bass singer but in many songs is more of a bass guitar. It depends on the song and the arrangement. VoicePlay cover a wide variety of genres , not always this theatrical though they do excel at it, and do all their own arranging, filming, editing, etc. By Down Home I'm assuming you mean Home Free? And actually Geoff and Tim look nothing alike though some people keep confusing them. :)

Geoff, the bass, stayed very low in this, but he has a 5 octave range. He often rattles our spines with subharmonics one moment, then raises our ears with the next note. At the moment, he is considered one of the lowest basses in the game.

Don't really agree on the part about bass notes, but nice reaction regardless. It really depends on the genre of music being covered, and this genre really doesn't call for shorter more frequent bass notes, Geoff (Jeff) tends to perform bass more like a low bass guitar, and less like a conventional A-Capella bass. Plus (as a bass/bass baritone myself) holding a low note like that is far harder than popping in and out, staccato notes are much easier to sing in bass than legato notes.
