Great reaction! If this is your first time listening to Voiceplay, let me introduce you to the guys! Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci (Insanely earth-shattering human subwoofer with the perfect hair, 5 octave range, and also an amazing arranger. Has his own solo channel as well. Layne Stein, vocal percussion genius with a beautiful singing voice we don't get to hear enough of! Swallowed a drum kit and does roughly half the arranging for the group. (Geoff and Layne share arranging duties). Eli Jacobson (pronounced "Elly" like "Jelly") little bald rockstar tenor that could front any rock band and never ceases to blow us away with his talent. He does the lighting and backgrounds for most of their videos and knocked this one out of the park. Cesar De La Rosa..the angelic-voiced baritone/tenor with his hair pulled back. Newest member of the group and so much personality and talent!!! Finally, we have J. None. Was a proper member of the group, but left for the navy. Every time he's on leave, he collaborates with them, and we always love seeing him. Nobody expected that rap so i think all the Voiceplay fans about jumped out of their shoes when he jumped off with that! Keep falling down this rabbit hole! There is literally no genre of music off limits to them. They've done rock, video game themes, Disney medleys, Boy bands, and even K-Pop. They always do something fun at Halloween and Christmas. Buckle your seatbelt and enjoy the ride!

The tenor's (Eli) rock gritty voice is completely natural! In the last chord, he hits an F5. But he is so versatile, he can croon, sing jazz and runs like crazy.
And the bass, Geoff Castellucci, hits a B0 3 different times, one he sustains for 15 seconds (at the beginning)

Miracle of Sound posted to VoicePlays channel and gave them 10 ale horns out of 10 for the most creative cover they have seen. Geoff Castellucci the bass has his own channel where he does LOW bass covers. Geoff holds the B0 for 15 seconds. The rapper is J. None. Beatboxer is Layne. Rock Tenor is Eli (Ellie). The guy in the cloak is Cesar.

Geoff Castellucci is one of the best ever. I like his version of Sixteen Tons because it nicely showcases his range while singing all the parts.

They out do themselves every time! I cannot stop watching this, it is amazing!! That first B0 Geoff hits lasts for 15 seconds!! Eli has become the Asgardian god of rock, Layne is a beatboxing god, Cesar has become a Berserker, and J None has shown us that rap indeed belongs in acapella! Great reaction!

The bass Geoff Castellucci also has a solo channel, doing extremely talented music as well.

J also rapped on two other VoicePlay songs. The one in "Superstition" is especially good and the one where they mashed up Jingle Bells with the theme from Mission Impossible is very, very short (not as good lyrics wise). There are a few songs where Layne (the beatboxer) has also rapped, but in a less traditional rap style. J None also has a great spoken/sung voice in "Friends on the Other Side"
Subscribing to see where you go with your reactions. I do hope you consider more VoicePlay (and Geoff Castellucci's solo channel)

    Awesome reaction.
Voiceplay is amazing group. They have tons of videos to choose from.
    Left to right...
    Layne Stein- Beatboxer/Baritone/Arrangements.
    Cesar De La Rosa- Baritone/Tenor.
    J None- Guest/Baritone/Former Member.
    Eli (elly)Jacobson- Tenor/Rock Tenor.
    Geoff (Jeff) Castelucci- Bass/Arrangements.
These guys are independent and do everything themselves. Including making their own decisions. They do not block for any reason. They said they work too hard on them for people to not be able to see and enjoy them. They love reactors because you guys help get their videos out there.
I do like how you do the video for copyright. Watermark in the corner but don't blur it so it can still be seen.
Subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay videos. They have a ton to choose from going back 8 years.
Geoff also has his own channel were he sings solo non acapella. He usually clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. All with their own name and personality.
All on both channels are amazing.

When I started watching them and noticed that Layne made all sorts of sound other than just drums I also thought of Michael Winslow. In their Christmas video this year he did Sleigh Bells, and you would swear they are the real thing.
J (rapper) was a permanent member until 2021 when the Navy recruited him to front one of their bands. I love that they have him staring out across the water at the beginning. He’s been away and now he’s coming back (at least for this. Later that evening he attended a wedding - his own!).
Previously they did a cover of My Mother Told Me (also associated with the video game Assassin’s Creed). The makeup and a lot of the costuming is from MMTM. Among their tattoos are runes spelling out VoicePlay.
Layne (beatboxer ) did the arrangement and Eli (bald rock god) the amazing backgrounds. It was filmed, not green screen, but at a studio with immense (Full wall!) LED screens. Unfortunately, the guys were in leather and furs and the air-conditioning was not working.🥵
The original is really amazing as well and there is a version with the original singer, Peyton Parrish, and Earl Holloway who has an incredibly low voice as well. Normally Geoff’s voice is velvety smooth but for this he really roughed it up. Can’t have a smooth Viking!

Thank you for an awesome reaction to Voice Play. Geoff ( Jeff ) the low bass singer said he spent a lot 5 hours backstage wrecking his voice for this one while waiting for J.Nones plain to get in. The air conditioning failed in the studio & between the heavy clothing & the heat they were sweating like crazy. They always pay great attention to detail in all their songs. They go above & beyond in all they do for their fans.

Since I am an old woman, Voiceplay does a lot of music that I have never heard before. And that makes absolutely no difference, Voiceplay is the best! My opinion, of course, but I'm always right. ;) Whether they are doing full on theater, or just plain singing, it's never just plain. The arrangements are usually done by Geoff (bass) or Layne (beatboxer). They usually trade off month to month. They have no label, no manager, and they do everything themselves. Arrangement, production, editing, costume and makeup design. They bring in outside makeup artists when necessary, and additional camera crew when needed. Otherwise, it's all them!
Subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay!

Geoff Castellucci also arranges music. One of his most popular is his arrangment of Elvira by the Oak Ridge boys for a duet with Home Free. I love his engine rumbles. Makes me feel like he fired up a 69 Cuda Hemi. And yes Police Academy was the best ever!!!!!!! made my kid watch it because 80s movies annoy her. He popped up with his vocal effects and she immediately went to google to find out anything and everything about him. Then she laughed at the rest of the movie because maybe just maybe Mom was right lol.

If you like anthem type music, you might like Avi Kaplan’s Change on the Rise. He sings all the parts in this, including the very low drone sound. Beautifully shot as well. Avi has a keen eye for the visuals and this is a fine example. He’s also an excellent photographer.

I really enjoyed your reaction and appreciation for the talent of Voice Play- thanks! I am a new subscriber looking foward to more Voice Play reactions. All three of the top acapella groups (Pentatonix, Home Free and Voice Play) are so good and unique in their talent. Pentatonix has more of a current Pop style, Home Free is more Country/Folk in their sound and Voice Play are frequently called the theater kids of acapella. My favorite is Voice Play as they don't have a record label or contract and do all of their own production and put so much into their arrangements, costumes, lighting and cover and combine all genres of music so well. They are from Orlando Florida and all the members and their frequently featured guests have worked as performers for Universal and/or Disney theme parks. The gentleman that did the rapping bridge is J None and as stated in the other comments is a former member that left to join the Navy but comes back and sings with Voice Play when he is on military leave.

@@WollisWorld You're doing great! You, obviously, know some things about music, artists and production, and the work it takes to get there. Personally, I love reactors that add some knowledge, with the video. And, you're being very smart about reacting to all these a capella groups. All three groups have rabid fans and will follow their music. You will build your YT subscribers with us...and that will draw others to your own music....which, I'm thinking, is what you want/need. I mean, PTX has over 300 videos...follow your desire. Just some notes from a 70 yo retired woman in Florida! LOL But I've heard/seen a lot of music. Even if you react from some 60s/70s/80s artists, you will get views. I love seeing younger people learn and appreciate music. Just have fun with it! You Tube is now a big part of my entertainment these days. I can listen to it and watch my Rays on the TV at the same time (thanks to closed captions...LOL).

You’re the second reactor I’ve seen lately that compared Layne to Michael Winslow. And I think it’s a fair comparison. He’s gone way beyond a drum kit, and constantly comes up with new sounds to heighten their videos. (You should hear what he came up with for their Dream On cover!). And sometimes, as in We Don’t Talk About Bruno, he mixes singing with beatboxing. (Yes, he has a beautiful singing voice as well.)
