Geoff doesn't usually flirt with the camera, as Cesar does so often, but here he knows exactly what effect he's having on us with that basso profundo.
It always makes me happy when Layne's percussion gets the love it deserves.
J. None starts rapping.... TYLR.EXE stops working............lol. Best. Moment. Ever!
I know right when the rapping started his brain broke made me smile and lol a bit
That look on your face and how your words escaped you when J None dropped his bars...priceless!!! 😂😂😂❤❤
the energy people give off when reacting to voice play makes me smile and laugh ^_^
Miracle of Sound is the guy who wrote this song for one of the video games. He has a solo version out, a duo version (feat. Peyton Parrish), and a trio version (feat. Peyton Parrish and Eric Hollaway). Plus there's at least 2 versions with several other people adding their voices to the song. The rap section is unique to VoicePlay's and Miracle gave it public praise, rating it 10 raised ale horns out of ten.
This video is seen as the sequel to My Mother Told Me. Cesar wasn't with the group yet; Jose Rosario Jr was the fifth. As to the other four, their clothing is similar between the videos and the makeup is the same. Cesar is wearing the hooded cloak Jose wore in the first video. Whereas they're preparing to set sail and are calm in the first video, this one has them ready for battle, in berserker mode, ready to die fighting of has just died and are preparing to enter Valhalla.
VoicePlay don't mess about. They go all in. I think I can say that this is the most intense videos they've ever done. Miracle of Sound, who write the song, gave this ten out of ten. High Priase indeed.
Miracle of Sound knows one of the reactors and gave it 10 hats. My Mother Told Me was the lead into this one. Done over 2 years ago but laid the foundation for this one. You would probably enjoy Warriors (Imagine Dragons) and follow it with Dream On (Aerosmith).
If you hear a high metal scream, it’s probably Eli. (Geoff did one in Queen in 5 Minutes, though.)
This one follows on from My Mother Told Me, with the costumes and makeup. Eli did the backgrounds in Unreal Engines again, but instead of filming green screen, this one was filmed in front of large LCD screens playing the backgrounds. They just keep leveling up.
If you’ll check the comments on their video, you see that they pinned Miracle of Sound’s comment. That’s their second video in a row where the original composer/performer has contacted them with praise.
It was Eli for this one and Nothing Else Matters, but it was Cesar in Dream On. J None also got way up there in Panic!.
Oh cool that's the same method used for The Mandalorian
And in their latest short - Peaches - we get a new entry for high metal scream!
I just discovered you from your Voiceplay reactions and I am just binging them all back to back. You have such a great energy and great reactions. Finally, someone who reacts like I do! Lol
Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me!
They out do themselves every time! I cannot stop watching this, it is amazing!! That first B0 Geoff hits lasts for 15 seconds!! Then Eli has become the Asgardian god of rock, Layne is a beatboxing god, Cesar has become a Berserker, and J None has shown us the rap indeed belongs in acapella! Great reaction!
I love your expression when JNone started rapping.
Awesome reaction Tylr to an epic song and video.
These guys are amazing. Everything they do is gold.
This is why they're known as "The Theater Kids of Acapella" and Kings of Halloween ".
A couple years ago they did My Mother Told Me. They reprised their characters for this one.
Dragonborn Comes Skyrim they do some chanting.
Halo Theme and In The Hall of The Mountain King are no words. Except dums, bums, ohs and ahs. And of course Layne's awesome beatboxing.
Geoff Castellucci also his own channel with awesome videos as well.
His latest he released Friday.... Man of Constant Sorrow.
I shared this with someone, didn't tell them anything about the group, just played the music. They loved it. Then I told them, "It's all acapella." Cue their mouth dropping. They REFUSED to believe that was all done by a beatboxer. Layne killed it once again.
Right?!? Thank you for a great reaction!
This one really just gets you pumped up doesn't it 😂 J also does a little rap in their version of superstition 😉
Just to blow your mind even more... that sound of the door creaking open when J.None enters the hall for the first time? Not an actual door in real life... THAT'S ALSO LAYNE, making the sounds himself.
NO. WAY. He is so talented!!
Miracle of Sound and Peyton Parrish originally did this song for the videogame Assassin's Creed. VoicePlay really just went off on this one! So epic! It really makes all of us feel pumped up like Vikings!
Actually the original was done just by Miracle of Sound. Peyton Parrish did the duet version about a year later. Been a fan of Miracle of Sound since his 2nd album.
Should react to some of Miracle of Sounds other music. Does music from video games and TV shows he likes.
Have you seen Hoist The Colours yet? That's stunning too.
I've never seen an a cappella video go vital as fast as this has. It's just beyond words how epic this is in every way I can think of. I was waiting for you and your reaction does not disappoint! I could see you just getting slapped in the face by them several times. And then... when the rap hit... it just stuns you, doesn't it?!? It's like it hurts, but it's a beautiful pain! Bad ass reaction dude! 💙💜❤
Edit - It's crazy how fast this has gotten huge in just a week! If you search for reactions over 50 pop up!
And I think I’ve watched every one, lolz
I love that they have J returning home in this. He’s been away and now he’s coming back where he belongs.
A lot of the costuming and makeup is from My Mother Told Me. Among their tattoos are runes spelling out VoicePlay.
This song is soo good. Everone is amazing and switches it up. Who knew Caesar could growl. And that shout from him, yeez. Ellis metal voice and that rap
What a fantastic reaction! I felt like I was watching it for the first time all over again with you!! 💜💜💜
I had actually only ever heard one other Voiceplay song before, but wow this was absolutely incredible! Reaction was amazing as well! Awesome video, and insanely talented group! Wow
Viking poets had this thing called 'flyting' . Ritual rapid verbal duels. Exchanging insults etc preferably made up on the spot, but rhythmic and rhyming. The best ' insulter' got prizes and prestige out of it. What is it but pre- rapping?
I’ll add the rap here was written for them by Alfredo Austin, who is apparently in Straight No Chaser. That’s all I know of him so far. I need to go down that rabbit hole still.
Oh, except he also wrote another rap for their cover of “Superstition”
@@hwyla4416 Wow! Great info! I don’t generally like rap but I do like J’s rap in the both of these. After Rockapella, SNC was the first modern (Not choral or barbershop) a capella group I paid attention to and I still listen to them- especially at Christmas. Their Nutcracker and Christmas Cancan are fantastic.
I agree with everyone; great follow-ups to this are My Mother Told Me and The Dragonborn Comes (Skyrim).
I’m glad you stuck around to check out the outro music because it’s a little different and also great.
You’re right, Peyton Parrish has done a cover, or actually a version of this with the composer, @MiracleofSound, who wrote it for Assassin’s Creed.
I loved your expression when J started to rap. He’s so GOOD, and it’s so fun when Voiceplay does the unexpected.
Awesome reaction!
I'm a diehard Pentaholic, but this song is EPIC! I had to see your reaction!
I listen to this song when I lift and I feel so hyped when I do. I basically listen to this song five days a week and this song has inspired me to get a tattoo of the word Valhalla in Swedish runes on my left inner bicep and Valkyrie in Swedish runes on my right inner bicep
you have a gorgeous smile, and a very engaging reaction. Subbed! ❤😊
Thank you so much for your kind words and for subscribing! That really means a lot to me! 😀
I enjoyed your reaction- thanks! This song and their cover of "My Mother Told Me" are both from the 'Assassin's Creed' game. They did the cover of "My Mother Told Me" over a year ago and have had many patreon requests for this one since then so they brought the characters back and did this one as a sequel. The bald, high tenor, Eli, did some absolutely amazing technical effects here and beatboxer, Layne, did the arrangement. Jose Rosario was the featured guest in "My Mother Told Me" because Cesar had not joined Voice Play yet but Cesar took over the hooded character done by Jose and blew everyone away here.
I don’t know if MMTM is used in the game, but the song is actually legit Viking, going back to Egill’s Saga, which was written in Old Norse in Iceland. It’s sung by various characters in Vikings, in the original Old Norse.
My favorite reaction to this one by far! I was equally as stunned. Everyone involved went above and beyond in this performance ❤
you commented on percussion - did you notice the creaking and slamming of the door when J came in? That was Layne, too -
Valhalla Calling is from the Game Assassin´s Creed Valhalla and the original Artist MiracleofSound commented under the Video from VoicePlay, if you like to check it out. Great Reaction Tylr
You are quickly becoming one of my favorite reactors! 💖
The song is really epic, the rap part was unexpected !
Fantastic reaction!
I agree on pretty much everything! I am already listening to this song daily 😅 liked your reaction - might go and check out some of your other VP reactions. 😊
this is what happens when the guys have too much coffee! 😂Great reaction ❤🏴
Great reaction. You want more epic Voiceplay..then listen to their version of The Dragonborn comes Skyrim. You'll be blown away by this too!
If you're interested Geoff has a series of videos on how to sing bass! The beat boxer, Layne Stein is incredible. He did the door sound. Unbelievable. Geoff did three B zeros--a new record.
A truly epic reaction!!! So much fun!!
Great reaction!! ❤
Great reaction
The hight note is probably Eli (bald guy) is can go very hight and I like is rock tenor voice Please react to voiceplay hoist the colors please
They just never miss. I can't wait to see what comes next musically or with backgrounds since Eli is starting to work with Unreal Engines. I can't chose a favorite for this one--there's NO way. Layne's killer arrangement and percussion, Eli's tech work and rock god voice, Cesar channeling his inner warrior, Geoff the earthquake god with THREE B0s with the first one sustained 15 seconds, and J None's rapping. I wanna go pillage something now. LOL
I love your reaction
Layne learnt the percussion after the one left for acting called Scott who was in Just Sing and HALO one. If do Just Sing put sub titles on as tells you who they are what they done and what done with VoicePlay. The HALO watch after the song.
Loved your reaction as always! These guys blew this out of park! If you like Viking, listen to Peyton parrish sing "Dane". You'll enjoy that. I've got Scandinavian blood and am decendent of William the Conquerer, so this music stirs me up! I want to go SMACK something! Lol! God bless you always!🎉😊
Thank you for an absolutely awesome reaction to this epic song. I loved it and am now a subscriber. Hope to see you soon. Please keep it up.
Thank you so much for subscribing! Means a lot to me! 😃
I recommend Hoist the Colours!! ❤
As a rule of thumb (so, not always, but your most likely bet) if the high note has grit, it’s probably Eli. If it’s a pure, bell-like tone, it’s probably Cesar.
Not always…but… the odds are in your favor.
And thank you for noticing Layne’s beats. As a drummer I always do, but most reactors totally miss his awesomeness.
And remember - they are independent. Doing all that on their own. All that CGI…Eli (the bald guy) created in Unreal Engine. The interior and the ships are sea? All Eli.
And if you’re going to be buying their stuff, it’s easier to just join their Patreon. You get all the Mp3s free. And a Karaoke track. They’ve sucked in six reactors so far that I know of. 😀
You want to hear Hoist the Colors, and Dream On.
I’d also recommend Geoff’s solo versions of House of the Rising Sun, Ain’t No Sunshine When Shes Gone, and Man of Constant Sorrow.
Peyton Parrish covered it and my mother told me a few years ago. Its also in Assassins Creed Valhalla. I absolutely Love your reaction.
The answer to your initial question is Assassins Creed-Valhalla. If you haven't guessed, Valhalla translates almost literallly to Valor Hall. It represents the afterlife for Vikings who perish in combat, according to Norse Mythology.
I enjoyed it like, itws wesome!😮
The outro is the kareoke track.
They got ten Ale Horns out of Ten from Mirzcale Of Sound on their page. This one arrived on the 7th and Geoffs' new one arrived on the 14th. Both are everyone's new favorites. They did My Mother Told Me first as Vikings so you will see the costumes and tattoos are the same or similar. J. None raps in Superstition.
your reaction tell me that the entire long song,, you can't close your mouth.. cause that happen to me as well..
1 yes its peyton 2 payton was in the original 3 the rap was left field (not in original)
4:5
4:22 Why do you have such small hands
I personally like the Peyton Parrish version of this song better
