I am going to try a print slowing just the outer layers down to 100mms instead of the 200 it was set at to try and match the 50% number they show for silent mode so I can run it at normal speed for the inside and supports

    As a veteran, and fan, the only gripe I have really had (outside of some parts of reality and a lack of placement for the gas back systems) is the way the fore pump action grip size and placement means you would have to pump out instead of in. Still doable especially if the grip had a place to move even if it was shorter than the full traversal. But seems more messy and prone to failure in certain situations as is. Still very nice and rocket ammunition takes care of an interesting bit.

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  Год назад

      To be fair, bolsters do jam

    • @Scufflegrit
      @Scufflegrit Год назад +2

      Bolters aren’t pump action. That’s just a hand grip.
      As for the gas problem, bolt rounds have two charges:
      “As well as the rocket propellant, a small conventional charge is also utilised. This charge is strong enough to force the bolt out of the barrel at a significant muzzle velocity, and simultaneously ignite the bolt's propellant. The rocket-propellant is precisely fused to ignite immediately as the bolt leaves the barrel, alleviating any possibility of pressure build-up. The bolt then accelerates toward the target under its own power.”

    I haven't super into 40k since high school in around 2008, and maybe the Space Marine game(s), but I would absolutely buy a Nerf bolter and a foam chainsword.

  • @fns58
    @fns58 3 месяца назад +1

    Hope calling it "Nerf" bolter was just a thing you didn't think much over and not an intended clickbait.
    You cannot describe it as Nerf if it doesn't shoot anything or have anything to do with a Nerf gun. It's just a 3D printed prop bolter that's it...
    Very cool in any of the cases. Thanks for sharing.

      I feel you. I was expecting to have a functional blaster, but it is just a prop, a cool prop, but a prop none the less.

    For an even better result, add a combination of white, red and yellow led lights in the muzzle, a sound chip near the middle, and a battery in the handle. Connect to the trigger and put an off on button to preserve the battery (or to keep it silent when needed).

    This is amazing, but isn't it scaled down a bit? I know there are bolters for certain special officers to use but they are smaller than the space marine variants.

    • @spearsage
      @spearsage Год назад

      Come on now, no need for the nitpicking.
      If it is true to scale, the grip will be too large for a normal human hand to hold properly, thus making the intention of making it a playable nerf gun a moot point. It'll only be good for decoration piece, or if you ever have time and money to finish your true to scale space marine cosplay

    • @FauxHammer

      Yeah, it’s human size. I could print at 200% but would have looked daft with me holding it and not wearing Astartes armour

    It occurs to me, that the Bolt Rounds are the perfect target to print on a resin printer, using that "wax castable resin", to make Metal Boltrounds out of....

    GW already partnered with Hasbro (WotC) for the Warhammer Commander decks for magic the gathering. I could totally see them partnering again to make functional NERF bolters.
    I mean hell, we already got a nerf Gjallarhorn from Destiny, so this isn't even that big of a leap for them.
