    I don’t normally comment, but Tomer deserves all the props for this video, and for just being an amazing deck builder in general. I purchased the Ob-Nixilis deck when Tomer did the original Short. I liked it so much that I followed his $100 upgrade guide and then even added a couple of premium upgrades. Definitely happy with my experience and I can 100% recommend this as a way to cheaply try out decks.

    it has been super helpful. I love playing budget as much as possible. Purely to save money and get people scratching their heads w a bunch of "jank" at 100% synergy. Thank you Tomer on behalf of the budget peeps worldwide!

      I've seen _$20_ Winota lists - most of the cost is in the fast mana, dual lands, and stax pieces, so if you cut the stax elements in favor of just pure aggro and accept an entirely basic landbase, you can have a really cheap deck that still kills on turn 5-6.

    A note on Ayara's Oathsworn: it only tutors once: only when you put the exact 4th counter on it.
    To do it again, you have to remove/sac+reanimate it

    • @davidsterner5453
      @davidsterner5453 9 месяцев назад

      The ability only adds a counter if it has less than 4, but it will tutor each time it does combat damage as long as it has exactly 4 +1/+1 counters (or 3, adding the fourth with its own ability).

    • @RefaTheGreat
      @RefaTheGreat 9 месяцев назад

      @@davidsterner5453 Nope. From Gatherer: If Ayara's Oathsworn has four or more +1/+1 counters on it as it deals combat damage to a player, its ability won't trigger at all. None of its effects will happen. You won't put a +1/+1 counter on Ayara's Oathsworn and you won't search for a card.

    Love this type of content! Building a budget deck is a lot more fun (brain exercise) than mindlessly throwing together a $2000 deck. I'm currently in the process of trying to build a budget deck for each 2-color combination for MTGO where each deck must be under 3 tickets total cost.
    Was going to ask if you created all of these as some kind of challenge for this video alone, but luckily the article mentioned that most of these are updates to older budget brews you've made in the past. Would've been a ridiculous time commitment otherwise, even now with just the updates it must've cost a lot of time to finish these decks! Any chance there will be another commander clash soon where each deck must cost under like 2 or 3 tickets total?

      It depends what you want to focus on. If you want to go all-in on Firkraag then invest in more cheap protection spells and clones like Spark Double and Sakashimas. If you want to focus on Dragons then grab the Ancient Dragons, useful Sarkhans etc.

    Hey tomer. Love these decks. I really like the sefris dungeon deck. What would be the first upgrades if you increased the budget to $100?

    Tomer seems like he's been busy!
    I love how Equinox feels like a fixed Pyramids.
    I think Ob Nixilis has a lower ceiling than Niv Mizzet, but Ob has a much higher floor I'd argue, more cards are good with Ob I think.
    I very badly want to just bite the bullet and build Sauron, the Dark Lord as Army Voltron, and just throw in all the support I can.
    Yuriko is one of the prominent low budget cEDH Commanders, offering consistency and power such that you can actually play against good decks and eek out wins due to the raw power of your Commander. I think I've seen $100 lists that are playable in most cEDH pods, but will suffer in the most powerful/fast ones as the deck isn't especially fast at that price.
    Really enjoyed the vid! Thanks for posting, I used to do low budget stuff, but I found it was too hard to compete with the $500-$1k decks with a $50 build, so I ended up aiming for 100-300, this range felt like I could probably build whatever I want and have it be fairly good, which is what I wanted. I do have a $50 deck still, and I am trying to keep it there. It's the kind of deck where you don't have consistency because it's too easy to draw the wrong half of the deck, but it's also incredible when it goes off.

      Glad you like it! Yuriko at $100 is way stronger than the $50 one, the major difference is consistency: at $100 you can fit in better mana-fixing lands and most importantly topdeck manipulation to make sure each trigger is lethal. It also doesn't help that a lot of the cards I used to love in my original budget build like Snuff Out was $2 just two years back and is now $11!

    Loads of awesome ideas here!
    Noyan Dar is a commander I really want to like. If he was Bant, I think he would be perfect. It's too bad none of the other land animate decks have white and so they can't run Equinox and Land Eternal.

    Hey Tomer. Love the content ❤ just wondering about the mic quality. I see you have a mic on the desk there but it sounds super echo-y like you might be accidentally using the camera mic. Maybe do a double check? Hope you have a great week dude!

      There's nothing wrong with the audio. Would you mind time-stamping your concern.

    Okay while it's actually got nothing to do with the video title the first thing I thought was how cool would it be to watch Tomer try to build 50 commander decks in 50 minutes live or something of the sort
