Sir , i got a placement in Maersk line as a traine cadet of ETO ,Your videos play the vital role to improve my knowledge sir ,thank for giving ur knowledge to us . I'm very proud to say I'm going to work in same organisation.
I helped change an evaporator in a walk in fridge today with one of our fgas techs. The gas charging operation was similar to yours but we had scales. He also had a funky ratchet spanner for the valves. As a 25 year electrician this was something different. I am doing my City and Guild’s fgas next week so I can play with the AC units at work. As always good videos. Best wishes.
Hi Jake great video. Very well explained. That was a trip down memory Lane for me! I was an engineer officer cadet in 1982 and later became a HVAC engineer.
Very impressive that you do both electrical and HVAC! Who is responsible for paying for this type of repair, the owner of the container, the shipper, or is it covered by the boat as the cost of doing business?
I have the same question really I think he means who ends up paying for the parts and refrigerant needed when a unit goes down while at sea is it the cargo transporter or the shipper or the receiver
Hello sir Great job please continue to share knowledge. I have a question Do you get paid extra to maintain refeer or any repairs you carry out on reefers?
Hi sir. I just have some friendly questions and observations: 1.) As you mentioned that the system is a closed one, the diminished system pressure should surely imply a leak somewhere in the system. Were you able to find it? 2.) While you did purge the air out from the yellow hose but I did not see you purging out the air from the blue and red hoses. I haven't experienced working on a refrigerator yet so it really wonders me how to purge the air out from the blue hose considering it's below or equal to atmospheric pressure unlike in air-conditioning system where low side pressure is considerably above atmospheric. Hope you could enlighten me sir. More power to your channel.
Sir , it is very impressive. I have a doubt that wen u removed the discharge side hose after filling up the refrigerant why did u make the service valve of discharge side from midseat to backseat(open) . It shud be front seated after charging
Good video.I have 1 question, during fillng up system th red valve on manifold should be open also and we can see how is pressure growing up?it was not so clear for me.
Hi my friend Leckyjake, I'm speaking from Brazil, I'm trying to find out about the Alj281 from the Daikin container.. Other than the SMV valve, the SMV coil, and the solenoid coils, what else can cause this alarm?
Hello, good video for begginers, but where is scale for refrigerant bottle, this is especially need for people who is learning this. It”s good to now how many kg you get in to the system.
I always depend on the working pressure as the ship is moving from places to places, different ambient temperatures which might affect the operation of the refrigeration system.
When you connected to the low side service port, there was a lot of moisture and water droplets present. Should you have wiped off the water with a paper towel first so that water won't get into the system? Thanks, Lecky! God bless you!
Hello sir. During charging suction and discharge valve is open? How many rotate the service valve open , fully open or just a little bit. Because I see you open the service valve just a little bit. ,Just make sure 🙏🏿 Thanks sir
Sir is it normal that the suction line is theres no presure only the discharge line?or maybe only for that system we can check presure on discharge line thanks for info.

So where did the refrigerant which was in the system disappear to before charging since you said there was no leakage ? And also when you finished charging the low side gauge was still showing zero
please take note that the container is moving from country to country, ship to ship, and port to port in which a lot of Technicians are handling them. there are some instances that they do maintenance and troubleshooting in which they might have had charge refrigerant less esp if they are in a very low ambient temperature.
Thoroughly leak check as what you’ve said on 1:37, but you didn’t show that you check the tubings on condenser, evaporator and bulkheads leading in/out the evaporator. So how is it so sure that the system has no leak at all? And how is it that the suction/low pressure side is still zero after charging? Thanks if you can be able to answer.
if i will put the whole clips then the video will take for hours. This is a moving machinery which travels all around the world, from trucks to trucks, from cities to cities, vessels to vessels and from hot area to low ambient temperature area. if the container came from a low ambient area and a service was made then there is a posibility that less refrigerant was charged but would still work since condensation on the condenser is too easy due to low ambient but once this travels to tropical countries just like malaysia, then this less freon would matter and need recharging.
sir, we all know in refer system from evaporator slightly super heated vapour returns directly to compressor crankcase, not directly to the compressor suction side. from the crankcase compressor takes suction. why is that so? is it to eliminate risk of liquid refrigerant getting directly into the suction? or any other specific reasons? can you pls help?

what country are you from? are those charge hose fittings required by your countries laws? how do you push air from your hoses with those silly low loss fittings? hope you don’t have to pull vacuum through all that silly stuff also. we can and are made to always contain our refrigerant as techs and you here prove it’s easy to do, yet it commonly leaks from refrigerant systems with little or no regulations or punishments when it does. brand new equipment leaking its charge from day one. i’ve seen 100’s of kilos of refrigerant go freely, but it’s not made a big deal. but your using a manifold thats overly complex, expensive and burdensome i’m assuming because it’s required by your laws. let’s try building equipment that’s not junk
“Complex and burdensome” in which way(s)? This looks to me like a perfectly standard HVAC manifold set with some automotive QD fittings to connect to the service ports, which parts would you say are unnecessary?

Greetings. What about purging air from the red/blue hoses and the centre of the manifold? Thank you
You don't need to purge as they are always isolated. It means that below zero pressure discharge gauge (red) will keep on that position.
Short and sweet

sir, since u didn't find any leakage in the system, then why refrigerant level was low? cz we all know this is a close loop system, nothing comes in and out

Does it mean that at the time of your troubleshooting, the reefer container had just been loaded?

You're at a real disadvantage when checking for leaks since you can't get on the inside
especially underneath the evaporator

Sometimes it is better to put bottle bottom up to charge liquid refrigerant.
id rather wait for the process while charging vapor in the suction side
Where you will charge the liquid refrigerant to the system if you want to charge the system by liquid rfrgnt. I'm asking the foreigner Sir lecky.
Why that blue line i.e suction line was showing zero psi
because it it the suction line, it is normally into that range if your setpoint is deep freeze
Condenser coil leaking :D
