How to Charge Refrigerant (Gas) in an AC unit?

- Charging refrigerant in an AC unit involves adding the right amount of refrigerant gas to ensure the system operates effectively. Here's a simple explanation of the process:
Safety First: Make sure the AC unit is turned off and unplugged. Safety goggles and gloves are recommended.
Locate Service Valves: Find the service valves on the AC unit. There are typically two valves - a larger one called the low-pressure or suction valve and a smaller one called the high-pressure or discharge valve.
Attach Gauges: Connect refrigerant gauges to the service valves. The blue gauge connects to the low-pressure valve, and the red gauge connects to the high-pressure valve.
Connect Refrigerant Cylinder: Attach a refrigerant cylinder to the yellow hose on the gauges. Make sure the cylinder is in an upright position.
Start the AC: Turn on the AC unit and set it to its maximum cooling mode. The compressor should start running.
Add Refrigerant: Slowly open the valve on the refrigerant canister. This allows refrigerant to flow into the AC system. Watch the pressure gauges as you do this. The pressure readings should rise as the refrigerant enters the system.
Monitor and Adjust: Continuously monitor the pressure readings on the gauges as you add refrigerant. Stop adding refrigerant when the pressures approach the recommended levels for your AC unit.
Close Cylinder Valve: Close the valve on the refrigerant cylinder once the desired pressures are reached.
Disconnect Gauges: Safely disconnect the gauges from the service valves. Be careful as there might be a small release of refrigerant when disconnecting.
Test AC: Let the AC run for a while to ensure that it's cooling effectively. Check the temperature of the air coming out of the vents.
Check for Leaks: If you needed to add a significant amount of refrigerant, it's a good idea to check for any leaks in the system. Leaks should be repaired before adding more refrigerant.
Remember, handling refrigerant requires proper training and knowledge to ensure safety and proper functioning of the AC unit. If you're not comfortable with these steps, it's best to consult a professional HVAC technician to charge the refrigerant for you.
You tell everything about gas charging step by step . Now No question is remain .
Full guide 👍💡
I am glad. But there are many things about refrigerant charging. I will explain everything in a video.

410A needs to have the bottle inverted upside down to charge properly as a liquid. If you charge it upright, it will fractionate the near-azeotropic mixture. R22 is a single component and can be charged as a gas.
What is 410a? What is r22?
It's depends on the cylinder. Before charging the refrigerant we should check the instruction on the cylinder how to charge.
R410A and R22 is two different types of refrigerant (Gas).
R22 is older type refrigerant and R410A is modern refrigerant.
R410A is more environmental friendly than the R22 refrigerant.
Because R22 has chlorine atoms which dangerous to ozone layer but R410A doesn't have any chlorine atoms.
The modern AC systems are replacing the R22 refrigerant with R410A refrigerant.
R22 Refrigerant will not be available in the future due to environmental concerns.
Does r22 and r32 also need to turn the cylinder upside down too?
@@DaveMavrik-ki7xb R22 and R32 are single refrigerant and their composition does not change. Thus both liquid charging and gas charging is possible. Liquid charging of R32 all at once from the low - pressure side may cause the compressor to malfunction.
Working pressures for R32 are very similar to R410A and when charging, R32 is easier to handle as it can be charged in both a gas and a liquid state. This why R32 is classified as A2L “mildly flammable” while safety data sheets say it is extremely flammable but it really is very low flammability.
Hi. Why need to connect high pressure line if we are not use that during charge refrigerant?
Nice explanation sir 👍thank you
Always welcome 😊👍
Hi, thanks for the video. Is it necessary to attach the red hose to the air conditioner in order to fill it? I have simpler manifold gauge, with only blue and yellow hose (without red hose, and without red gauge).
Very good sir ji....exvelenttt
This is a very good video. Please my question is I added refrigerant to my 1hp Samsung spit AC when the power was turned off and I waited 10 hours to put the power on. Is it okay?
THANK you
You're welcome!
very clear video🎉🎉
Glad to hear that
I m instrctor r/ac..but your mathed very Excelent.......
Nice video
Thank you 😊
new friends please friends me
How much time will it take to transfer gas from cylinder to ac outdoor unit
Could you explain to me what happens if we open high-pressure on-off valve when we charge refrigerant ( GAS ) in an AC UNIT ?
If we open the High Pressure On/Off Valve, Refrigerant will start going from AC Unit to Refrigerant Cylinder. Because the pressure in the High Pressure Side of the AC Unit is more than the pressure in the Refrigerant Cylinder.
can you fill using the red hose to the low pressure side?
No you can't fill through the red hose. Because the red hose in connected the high pressure side. If you try to charge through the red hose. Instead of the refrigerant going into the unit, the refrigerant will return to cylinder from the unit because of the pressure difference.
How to know when its time to close the blue vlv after letting air out
Nice question. You can see that easily when the refrigerant comes out. It will come out like spraying water.
I was charging 410a while charging compressor and fan shut down itself, I checked breaker and thermostat both were on , what could have gone wrong
Nice
Thank you
one question, is the red hose to high pressure line, complete shut off all the process?
Yes, it will be completely shutoff through out the process.
why have it connected then? can't you just have the blue hose connected to fill ?@@zebralearningsenglish-pn6fl
please tell us before charging gas required vacuum full machine required time and -psi value
What is the need of connect high pressure guage????
Can you show other techniques? Please
Yeah, sure. I'll upload.
Why does nobody ever show you what you do if you have a recovery cylinder I don’t know whether to hook it through the red or the blue
bravo
Thank you 😊
How do we know how much gas need to be refill
We can check that with the pressure gauge.
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
A very helpful tip is to add 50ml of purified water to the compressor before regassing. This reduces corrosion and no need to vacuum
Brother it's totally half knowledge about gas charging it's not the way we have to first leakage check and fill leakage than vaccum after all process gas charging 😊😊
It's just a basic concept of gas charging method. I'll make a detailed process of gas charging video and will upload it.
Gas charging ka Hindi me animation
I will upload soon.
In hindi translation plz
I am making in Hindi also. I will upload soon.
Should shut down the unit en perform a vacuum test 24 hours prior charging the system to be sure the system is leak free and all the air is out.
