As a mustang guy, there’s no doubt that the ZL1 is one of, if not the best car to come out of Chevy aside from the Corvette of course. It’s an amazingly well balanced car with not only massive speed and acceleration but the handling capabilities to match. Such a badass car.
I agree and would add my perspective from the opposite side of the street-so to speak.😅 I am a lifelong die hard Chevy guy. Brand loyalty and sentimental biases aside, the facts are the facts. I truly feel that nothing/no one could ever deny the pure genius, beauty, and just outright “Americanism” that comes from the performance division at Ford as of late. With a signature rapport so raw, so savage, yet somehow still able to elegantly blend acoustic beauty with muscle-backed-aggression, all but guaranteed to soak women’s undergarments worldwide that voodoo engine is truly an engineering masterpiece. But more than that-the whole package works together so well it’s nuts to give 100% of the credit to the engine.. what a time to be alive gents. The dudes at ford should be and surely are proud as hell to have created such beautiful monster. We would be complete fools to bicker back and forth about what car/manufacturer/country is the best. Rather we aught to just be damn grateful to live in a time when each of “The Big Three” have such extreme examples available. They’re each unique and follow an individual ethos. Whether u love a hellcat, a Shelby, or a ‘vette/‘Maro, the day is finally here when we can forget the “competition” and instead marvel at the beauty, share respect and give props to the creators of each unique example. 10-15 years ago, you couldn’t have forced me to concede that even 3 mustangs (baring the terminator ofc) could match the value nor performance of 1 Camaro. And out of respect for the Chrysler corp. I won’t put a number next to the charger/challenger of the day 😅(keep in mind that I’m referring to pre 2010 models ofc for all 3 manufacturers)-(Camaro dropped in 2010) sort of butchered that word salad but regardless I wouldn’t even consider a trade at that time nor would anyone in their right mind.. my old SS trailblazer is hella stock but still quicker than both the mustang gt and the charger rt. Again,-pre 2010.. but nowadays??…. I’d love to own a Shelby packing a voodoo man. And no one would turn down the chance to drive a hellcat let alone own one.. it’s a great day to be an American!!! Oh and btw, as far as the drag race, we should all feel grateful that the Shelby sounded so good and was so nearly able-ALMOST ABLE- to drown out the sounds of the footwork displayed by the other two drivers.. I hate trash talking on the internet but damn man, there was a significant discrepancy/disparity in driving skill levels specifically referring to operating a manual transmission/clutch in a manor focused on maximizing potential performance.. dang it man, pony driver has the skill to shift efficiently but what was Camaro driver doing???? lol at least the Supra dude was distracted with the video and probably not used to the car yet, idk..

I'm one of the even crazier guys than you drag guys, I line to turn at 100mph, Grand Sport would've beat and if these cars in a drag, but let's start cornering and the difference is stark... Hard to manage a 700hp street car, by that I mean it car it's not a dedicated race car. The moderate and fully usable horsepower of the Grand Sport Corvette even pro races are saying is the sweet spot when taken on the track. The last thing you want to do is have to soft pedal and go back and forth when 700 horsepower the sets it wants to mess with you. $500 horsepower is this sweet spot where you can just mash it to the ground in the car's got your back. Wish me luck, and send up some prayers. 🙏🏾🫂🙏🏻
Absolutely not. Although the GT350 sounds amazing, nothing beats the sound of a good ol' LS/LT pushrod V8 with a cross-plane crankshaft slapped with a supercharger on top. Absolutely nothing. Those idle chops with the deep raw grunt and super loud and rowdy exhaust when going on a straight is music to the ears.
@@louzapantis no it doesn’t, American muscle cars should have only one cam. That Shelby sound is more comparable to an LC500 and those sound better banging off the rev limiter. Muscle cars have push rod single cam V8’s period.
Yeah, as much as I love the Supra (I own a '22 3.0), I know when I'm outclassed/outpriced. Both of the other cars are quite a bit more expensive, and have more power.
The moral of the story is there is still nothing as fun as American muscle. Supra is nice. The Stang and Camaro are bad ass legends. Very fun video, well done.
I knew the ZL1 would dominate but hats off to the GT350 for hanging in there in the 1/4 mile run in this race. On an actual dragstrip the ZL1 automatic is a beast and easily runs well into the 11s. The Supra was completely outgunned period. But a power adder would fix that. Nice comparison Sam 👍
@ from a roll race the GT 500 with 760 hp would win. A 1/4 mile race would come down to the driver. I have seen it go both ways. No doubt the GT 500 is a monster from a roll and should be with 760 hp. ZL1 gets on down the road to. Both cars are beasts.
I've watched a lot of these races and a lot of people get on the drivers for their shifting abilities. I must say, considering all 3 are manuals the drivers did a fantastic job!
I don't know, torque is what you feel and the ZL1 has that covered in spades. You need lots of room and lots of revs in the Stang. You get caught in the wrong gear in the Stang and you're a sitting duck. The Z just pulls...
No competition, its very difficult to match those cars evenly in the sports car class , cars like the ZL1 & GT500 are virtually huracan & R35 level of fast on track & roll races compared to supras & m4s.

It's rarely a fair race at the drag strip or the street. You run what you come across in both of the scenarios. I like how the Supra leads the GT350R out of the whole then half way up to redline the GT350R exhaust note changes and it just pulls on the Supra. The ZL1, well, that's got so much more HP than the other two cars it leaves them behind.
Camaro ZL1 all day long. It was built 100% at a GM Factory, not shipped off to another state for a special needs modifications certificate, then shipped out.
@voodoodiecast i think a Supra with ZF8 would be side by side or even beat the 350. The manual is not good for the Supra because of the turbo will drop out of boost between shifts and it doesn't do that with the automatic....

When the ZL1 is mentioned. I smiled. I'm quarter Japanese by birth( dad is half-half, but I love American muscle cars that is Camaro to be exact! My dream car. I got one in manual transmission but not the ZL1. Hope one day. And must be in manual transmission too.
The ZL1 is one of the best track cars ever made the 1LE was built for the track which this ZL1 in the video is not. When Chevy built the 6.2 LT4 and LT5 they new it would change the world forever in V8 power and now they went even further when Justin Lee decided we could do better and he made the LT7 twin turbo 1,064 HP with 886 pounds of torque this engine will go in the 2025 C8 ZR1 it’s a 5.5 liter engine and GM most powerful engine yet. Cant wait to see its 0-60 1/4 mile. If you can own a ZL1 get it trust me if you love fast powerful cars that can still be a daily driver the SS and ZL1 is your car. Corvette is just to expensive for me or I would have one of those but don’t get me started 😂😍✌🏼
It’s insane how much power they managed to pull out of that 5.2l. A hundred horsepower per liter is insane for a na car. No surprise it also takes boost extremely good. Give it 10psi and you’re making a thousand horses.
Makes me wonder if they were using "no lift shift" in any of the cars. I know the ZL1 does this as I've used it before and can cut a 1/4 time by almost half a second pretty easily. Gotta give props to that GT350R though, for being able to hang at the rear quarter of the ZL1.
I have a lot of hate for American Muscle but only ones I will make an exception for is the GT350R. Love the damn looks abd sound and especially them carbon fiber wheels.
I drove a GT350 a while back and though it sounded glorious, and looked great, it really wasn't all that fast. No torque, heck the Camaro SS 1LE felt faster (and really it's neck and neck with a SS 1LE with intake tune). The ZL1 is in an entirely different league 😂
A quick tip if you want to maximize viewers. Just start with the 0-60 and quarter mile drag. There's an argument for rolling races, but - like it or not - most people like to watch an old-fashioned drag. Watching rolling races where the cars are misaligned doesn't make for great viewing either.

Don't know about this comparison, but I do know the ZL1 chassis lis leagues above the other two. The 650 hp is just icing on the cake.
The gt350R is one of the best handling mustangs ever made so the camaro will not out perform the mustang on a race track.

When the ZL1 is mentioned. I smiled. I'm quarter Japanese by birth( dad is half-half, but I love American muscle cars that is Camaro to be exact! My dream car. I got one in manual transmission but not the ZL1. Hope one day. And must be in manual transmission too.

The ZL1 is one of the best track cars ever made the 1LE was built for the track which this ZL1 in the video is not. When Chevy built the 6.2 LT4 and LT5 they new it would change the world forever in V8 power and now they went even further when Justin Lee decided we could do better and he made the LT7 twin turbo 1,064 HP with 886 pounds of torque this engine will go in the 2025 C8 ZR1 it’s a 5.5 liter engine and GM most powerful engine yet. Cant wait to see its 0-60 1/4 mile. If you can own a ZL1 get it trust me if you love fast powerful cars that can still be a daily driver the SS and ZL1 is your car. Corvette is just to expensive for me or I would have one of those but don’t get me started 😂😍✌🏼

It’s insane how much power they managed to pull out of that 5.2l. A hundred horsepower per liter is insane for a na car. No surprise it also takes boost extremely good. Give it 10psi and you’re making a thousand horses.
Makes me wonder if they were using "no lift shift" in any of the cars. I know the ZL1 does this as I've used it before and can cut a 1/4 time by almost half a second pretty easily. Gotta give props to that GT350R though, for being able to hang at the rear quarter of the ZL1.

I have a lot of hate for American Muscle but only ones I will make an exception for is the GT350R. Love the damn looks abd sound and especially them carbon fiber wheels.
Love that Camaro and mustang. Drove a 2016 gt350 when I sold cars at Carmax it was beautiful performance wise and inside and out looks wise.

against these V8s you should have brought a modded Supra. Good runs and love the Mustangs exhaust, sounds mean as hell
A Drag Race is so boring considering all these cars are made to handle turns as well.
I drove a GT350 a while back and though it sounded glorious, and looked great, it really wasn't all that fast. No torque, heck the Camaro SS 1LE felt faster (and really it's neck and neck with a SS 1LE with intake tune). The ZL1 is in an entirely different league 😂

A quick tip if you want to maximize viewers. Just start with the 0-60 and quarter mile drag. There's an argument for rolling races, but - like it or not - most people like to watch an old-fashioned drag. Watching rolling races where the cars are misaligned doesn't make for great viewing either.
