Thank you. Im glad you appreciate that I'm focusing on squad painting. I want to structure all my guides towards "Army Painting" above "Miniature Painting" - I want to help people get entire forces painted versus a single golden daemon level miniature.
@@heresyera That's a good plan -- there are lots of people on RUclips doing videos on how to paint better, but not so many on how to paint armies quickly and well.
@@heresyera honestly I think this is the right way to do it. Most people aren't painting single miniatures, they're painting squads if not armies, so guides that focus on batch painting are imo more useful to the average hobbyist.
YES, different shades of black! So many people think 30k Iron Hands are just like the Dark Angels, but they have various shades going on, and this is most obvious with their vehicles.
100% - i love the Forge World color plates and the look of the solid black with the metallic black. Really helps them stand out from Raven Guard when using them in a shattered legion force.
Finally, I found a video that shows that you can achive a vey good looking army without using airbrush, enamels and oils, advanced painting techinques - a result that is realistic for a beginner. Thank you!
I love that iron hands models can go from "my model feel into iron warrior so I dip it into nuln oil to fix it" to "yeah this model took me 2 hours to paint"
I really loved how you used different shades of black to make their armor look more lifelike. Those guys look like they just stepped off the pages of a book.
The time, effort and dedication you put into these miniatures is incredible. You are very accomplished and your work would look right at home on display at Warhammer World.
I can’t remember ever commenting just help someone for the algorithm, but your videos have been nothing short of amazing every single time I’ve watched and I hope you continue to find success and grow!
My favourite legion. I have been waiting for this one, and it didn't disappoint. A quality tutorial as usual. I've been working on being more efficient with my painting. I actually painted the accessories on my last space marine squad on the sprue, like you have done in this video. Thanks for sharing!
glad the video was worth the wait. i always try and be as efficient as possible with my heresy armies because small time savings per marine really add up in this game. i see so many painter’s unnecessary make so much more work for themselves by leaving bolsters and pouches on
i actually already have a huge orbital assault army of them i painted up during HH 1.0. it’s how i have all the dreads, pods, and vehicles. Going to repaint the entire force in the new plastics.
I wonder, how the hell do you still manage to upload a video when I'm having an awful dayl ol? This is becoming a wierd habit for you but a welcomed one for me! Gorgeous video as always
This is AWESOME! I know there are hundreds upon hundreds of videos covering blood angels painting guides, however I love your techniques and would love to see your take on painting the Angels.
Thank you. Blood Angels were one of my favorite chapters when I was into 40k and I want to do a series of videos with them for Heresy. Probably do the Signus Campaign as a series and drop a series of painting guides. Got a lot of Blood Angels kits here in package waiting to be painted.
personally i paint my mark 3 iron hands, with Vallejo model metallic black, but iron hands steel for the trim, and a wash of earthshade. then a dry brush of ironbreaker. i like mine to have a cold muted grey metallic look. though I'm thinking about using flat black on the pauldrons, and giving them a light gloss coat. just a bit so that it doesn't stick out too much, but who's to say at this point. I also paint my casings white, as i think the key word for Iron Hands IMO is cold. the black colored legions all have many ways to paint them to help them stand out. Raven guard go well with a matt black look or even off black grey, and the dark angels can have a bit of a flat black to but with metallic highlights to help them look more like they're wearing knightly armor. plus some red on the weapons also helps them stand out.
Dude, I love the white bolter casings. Agreed. A big goal of mine is to keep them looking very different than my raven guard. I played shattered legions in the previous edition and they look so good together when you have subtle differences between the two. I intentionally am keeping my IH more MK3 focused, again to add more distinction between their RG brothers.
@@heresyera i'm loving the new MK3 kit. sure it looks way different from the old, some might say too different, but i think the fact that they're taking inspiration from older warhammer art is really special. plus the helmet spike is dope, and anyone who clips them off is a heretic
can’t wait to do 3rd legion. have an eidolon and fulgrim commission going on with a very popular resculptor. want to do a video on them and do several painting guides
Love this, I'd like to see Traitor Hunter-Killer units at some point. A lot of people have done Shattered Legion forces but I think Hunter Killers are a bit less explored by the community.
it should - someone in one of the comments recommended basing with GW chaos black and then using black contrast paint for similar effect - that could be something to explore as well
@Heresy Era, Do you find it difficult to glue hands (painted) to the body (painted)? I always struggle with this part, it seems like the paint from both areas melts and gets clumpy. Do you run into this issue, or do you putty off the areas that will be attaching points?
Bolters on veteran squads is generally accepted. Same way as chainswords on despoiler squads. You will run into larger WYSIWYG issues when not modeling special or power weapons and proxying things. I never shoot the bolters on the vet squads either.
this machine voice 😒 It's not that it has an unpleasant tone, but that it emphasizes the sentences so woodenly and obliquely that you really can't listen for long without your hair standing on end. But apart from that great video. Finnaly some love for the Xth ❤
Honestly it sounds more real than other real voices. It has the slight speech after sounds after it speaks like a real person. And you can also hear the fake vocal cords being pulled in the voice.
single handedly keeping HH on YT alive by building and painting large units. Hope to see all of them in a campaign one day.

My man, painting the accessories seperate just unlocked something in my painting. Thank you.
Speeds stuff up sooooooo much. Gluing everything on and having to paint it black is just setting yourself up for sooo much work.

Thank you. 100%. While i used an airbrush in this video for the base armour, its entirely doable with a brush for this scheme.
You KNOW its going to be a good day when you see Heresy Era post a video. I love it.
*bolter fire rumbles*
*CLANK, CLANK, CLANK*
"I AM JOHN IRON HANDS! TRAITORS I AM YOUR DOOM!"

The cinematic intro at the start is gorgeous!
Thank you!
Brother is creating the best painting and narrative matches on RUclips for HH
much appreciated.
I think it could be cool to see you make Keys of Hel resurrected Marines. Think they could be represented well as Inductii
The time, effort and dedication you put into these miniatures is incredible. You are very accomplished and your work would look right at home on display at Warhammer World.
Some of the best work I’ve seen, love your style of showing battles with your figures.

Top tier presentation as usual.

Always look forward to your uploads - keep it up!
Always a pleasure to see you upload!
thank you -
Amazing job!! I will try this metallic black on my SoH Juasterin terminators and 1st company reavers!
I'd really like to see you do World Eaters
can't wait for the next bat rep! I watched the two previous ones a few times already!
I peeped your world eaters in your old Word Bearers Sicaran tutorial - would love to see your method for painting white vehicles :)

Glad I could give you some reprieve - hope its the first turn of events in your day!
Looks awesome as always. Love the model of Shadrak Meduson.
me too. i did two conversions of him in Heresy 1.0 and it was awesome to get an official model of him.

Can't wait to see a narative battle with these boys
They will be featured in a mini narrative battle report.
Perfect video to start fall break with 😩✊
Yes! more Heresy love it! I am working on some Blood Angel type units (printing stuff off using DakkaDakka stuff) very excited
just amazing!
The editing effects are mad nice
Thank you!
Amazing as always, I would love to see you paint 3rd legion sometimes, it would surely be stunning.

@@heresyera omg that will be awesome :D, btw what purple do you use ? my personal choise is xereus purple, its kinda darker but I think it looks good
Turning an otherwise simple paint scheme into a work of art! Awesome job!
Any chance on the other legion of Iron? The IVth always need some love :)
really cool
I love these videos
I'd love to see you paint a few world eaters!
YES!!! HE LIVES
definitively gonna steal that pale skin recipe!
Ok This is a really good Video.
Love this, I'd like to see Traitor Hunter-Killer units at some point. A lot of people have done Shattered Legion forces but I think Hunter Killers are a bit less explored by the community.
Agree. Would love to do a hunter killer formation with EC and SOH.
Can’t wait to see the 8th legion the best legion nightlords
you are the best!
I'm looking forward to you doing Iron Warriors :)
really love painting them - they are probably tied with iron hands for ease of painting
Excellent video and I like the BGM. Also keep with the AI voice for these videos. It really suits them.
Yes!!! Thank you!
Amazing
He's backkkkk
Was traveling for a bit and had to pause production. Im back up and running.
take a shot every time he says Nuncio Vox
I love iron hands
They really are an awesome legion -
super cool!
thanks man
Question at 11:47 can you actually paint it without the airbrush?
yes - u can use a brush with any air paint - some colors will require a few layers
Yes just in time
so good
thanks
What song is playing at 7:30?? It sounds amazing
I love your videos, will you be painting ultramarines?
Planning to do Ultras and Solar Aux while I do the next campaign series after the Siege of Cthonia.
What pigments would you recommend for like a fallen city and which do you use company and everything also VERY GOOD PLZ MORE MORE BATTLE REPORTS
i generally stick to yellow powders regardless of terrain type. if you want a more ash color, a light grey would look good -
I think I must not be using enough Nuln Oil because my metallic black never looks that dark
I really love this, amazing job. but I don't have a airbrush, would vallejo metallic black the vegular non air version work just as well?
it should - someone in one of the comments recommended basing with GW chaos black and then using black contrast paint for similar effect - that could be something to explore as well
HERESY ERA JUST DROPPED ANOTHER PAINT SCEME wahoo
Yes my legion❤❤
Lisan al HeresyEra!
I don't have an Airbrush. Is there a similar way I can do with a brush?
Do the DEATH GUARD
please tutoriel for sons of horus ! : )
I prime mine with leadbelcher then add two coats of bassilicanum grey.
That sounds like a really good method.
@@heresyera Try it out. Leaves a metallic sheen to the black armor.
First spray chaos black all over.
See you next week folks for raven guard
😉
Please, please do emperors children. Infantry and a tank. That'll help me out so much
i really want to do EC
Do Sons of Horus please
thinking a command squad with Tybalt Marr and Aximand
Please do a blood angels campaign!
I really want to!
Was that a salamander i saw at the end, a teaser?
First one to spot it - Yes, salamanders are next. Half the video is already shot.
@Heresy Era, Do you find it difficult to glue hands (painted) to the body (painted)? I always struggle with this part, it seems like the paint from both areas melts and gets clumpy. Do you run into this issue, or do you putty off the areas that will be attaching points?
zero issue with super glue -
@@heresyera Keep up the awesome videos!
Saw some ultra marines and salamanders little spoiler of what’s to come
just dropped salamanders today. the ultras are from a huge army i have. they will be featured in the next campaign after cthonia
I have a question, can you “remove” bolters front veteran squads/ tactical sargents or do the bolters have to stay while not being wysiwyg?
Bolters on veteran squads is generally accepted. Same way as chainswords on despoiler squads. You will run into larger WYSIWYG issues when not modeling special or power weapons and proxying things. I never shoot the bolters on the vet squads either.
@@heresyera thanks!
Could you do night lords next?
got a few other painting guides in the lineup right now - want to do a proper night lords feature further down the line -
@heresyera gotcha either way, still gonna keep watchin' ya, really enjoy the painting
The Flesh is Weak!
The fresh is leak!
More, give us more haha
half done with the next painting guide already -
banger
Heresy era do ultramarines and my life is yours 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Still waiting for the death guard tutorial
once shattered legions are done it’s death guard and sons of horus
@heresyera thank you I just got the two big box sets for my bday and I want to do death guard
They are an awesome army. They are fairly quick and extremely rewarding to paint.
Everyone says abbadon black wrong lol
