Our family loves bulgogi but can rarely afford it, and a wide range of physical disabilities in the house means making it from scratch is an all-day-teamwork situation... so I surprised them with this tonight. It was heavenly. And it's something we can afford (money wise *and* physical effort/ability wise) to make again and again. This isn't the first time I've thoroughly enjoyed one of your recipes, but it's the first time the aroma brought instant tears of gratitude to my eyes. Thanks for giving my family one of our favorite foods back. Hope your family is doing well.

Love this, I’ve been making this with minced beef, pork or chicken for about a year now. I’m more lazy so I buy 1.5/2 kilo of mince fry it until crisp throw in the appropriate bottle of bulgogi marinade and for every 250 grams a table spoon on Gochujang to spice things up a little. Making a big batch, I freeze the rest in smaller containers and on a lazy night I pull out one container, heat it up and you have dinner in minutes!

I love bulgogi and this will be a great spin off to try! Speaking of cast iron skillets, I just received my moms...which was her mom's. I'm wondering if you could show us how to clean or season it? I also have her very heavy cast iron Dutch Oven pot. Ohhh I'd love to see more recipes with the cast iron skillet!! 😉🤫😉🙃😊🥰 Enjoy your Sunday!

    • @FloLum

Often, I just use coarse salt and a paper towel to scrub off any cooked on food. If I’ve made a sauce or gravy, I’ll just use a drop of detergent and a scrubber to clean and dry immediately. I usually just put the skillet on the stove, heat it up and turn it off. The residual heat will fry the skillet. If it needs seasoning, just rub in about a teaspoon of cooking oil with a paper towel afterwards while it’s still warm. Hope that helps!

This method is exactly how my sisters and I do it! Make sure that the pan has cooled down before you try to spread the light coat of cooking oil on the pan with a paper towel after heat drying. Sometimes I am anxious to do that last step so I can put away the pan… don’t get burned!

I opted to make a different recipe for Stuffed Shotgun Shells but I'm glad I did! It gave me the idea for a way to use this recipe of yours! I have 4 manicotti shells left and what I had in mind was to make the recipe but use it to fill the remaining manicotti shells and then steam them in the Instant Pot. I'd cover them with a big batch of the sauce you made for this. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for so many great recipes!!!! 😀

I made this today. It was great :) added a little kecap manis by accident (force of habit because I always add oyster sauce to similar dishes) and it enhanced the sweetness. I also used shallots instead of onion but the flavor was delicious and aroma was good, I didn't have to add the second round of sesame oil. Thank you for the idea!

I wish I had seen your video first today!!! I happened to see Jeffrey's newest video which I am going to make when I finish what I most recently made. Yours will be next after that, though! I may be unusual when it comes to wraps because it's almost been a joke with me that I'd put anything in a flour tortilla! Turkey and dressing, meatballs, you name it! This would make a good burrito as your previous video showed! Kim Chee would be a good add to it! In a way I'm glad that it'll be a few days before I can make this because that'll give you time to get it on Patreon so I can print out the recipe! If it's not there now I'd have made my old-school printout where I watch the video while typing a wordpad document. Watch the video, pause it, continue on the document, repeat! Thanks for so many great recipes! I do look forward to making this one and I may do a little of both, with the rice and also as a wrap. I'll definitely post the link to this video on my Facebook page!

I just made this recipe for the 4th time in a few months, and it's absolutely delicious!
To spice it up in a Korean way, I have been adding a big glob of gochujang paste to the sauce, while keeping everything else the same!
For the 1st time tonight, I noticed Flo mention a bulgogi burrito recipe at the end of the video, and that made me want to mention that this recipe goes incredibly well with hard taco shells! Give it a try with your leftovers the next night, instead of making more rice!

Doesn't cooking the sesame oil reduce the nutty flavor? If so would adding the TBL of sesame oil more towards the end improve this at all? Like maybe add all of the sauce except the sesame oil while burning-off the liquid & the sesame after? Or maybe a more neutral (less expensive) oil, like coconut then sesame at the end?
P.S.: Woks rock...even though I love my cast iron skillets too.
