For ages i have been trying to get my stock horn to work on my 68 ford and did not know the peice that was broken on my turn signal switch was part of the horn. Now i followed this video and my turn signals work again along with my horn. This video was very helpful. Thanks
In order to remove the column where the wires go through you have to remove a snap ring. it is on the steering shaft. once you remove the snap ring just pull on the column part and it should come off. then you can run the wires down through the hole in the steering column. makes life easier. you should be able to see the snap ring once the steering wheel is off. hope this helps.....Great video Kris. I was working on a 77 f100, but should be the same.
You have encourage me to do my own replacing of my turn signal switch. I have leaned that it is not a bad idea to tie a string to the wires before pulling them out, so it might be easier to feed back the new wires. Thank you for the lesson.
Hey hair and beard dude, where did you buy your replacement parts? I have a '72 f-250 same as your steering. I need a rag joint and turn signal replacement. My column is a 75 though. I put power steering on my truck

Guillermo Nieri and thank you
Fishtape my man, not to say it would work, definitely worth a try before 100% tear down.
Thanks for the tip
Tape a fish wire to the old wires and pull it through on the way out with the old wires.... That way you can pull the new ones back through easily.
Next time stagger the wires together with tape along a fish line (metal or fiberglass) to get down steering column easier.

Where did you find the horn contact pin. I need one and cannot find it
How do you take up the steering wheel
hey bro is this the same installation for a 79 F100 sidestep!!!
RL Racing Garage generally for the most part this is how all columns works as far as I know
Hair and Beard ok thank's
RL Racing Garage pretty easy good luck... I have recently changed to a gm columns with a u joint instead of rag joint
If you weren't reusing any wires, you could've left one, pulled the rest, and taped the new wires to the old one and pulled them all through
boostedNBD yes thank you.. ive learned since, i guess its a learning curve
In my 77 F100 I just slid the wires one at a time down the column. Not a big deal.
Next time tie a string onto the old wires before you pull them out ! .. thanks I’ll be trying this soon as I get the switch in
Thanks for the advice
Steering column is an easy job yes but if you don't do it exactly right it will bring hell to what you're doing trust me
