  • Here is why your turn signals stop working sometimes and sometimes work intermittently. Here i am using a 1969 mustang mach 1 but remains the same or very similar for 1965-1970 as far as color codes goes. The symptoms and problems however will be the same for most classic cars with this style turn signal or multi function switch on the column. So Camaro, chevelle, nova, fairlane, bronco, nomad, blazer, c10, k10 will all have the generally the same style turn signal switch and will share the same type of issues. I have another video where I do a step by step repair on a 1975 ford bronco that has turn signals that sometimes dont blink at all and just stay on. Or even when headlights would be turned on the turn signals would stop working so give that video a look if you feel you share a similar problem. This is the link • Turn signals flashing ...

    Thank you. I’m restoring a 72 chevelle. No turn signals at all replaced the cancel cam and switch as the owner before me put a aftermarket steering wheel in. I assumed that was the issue to no avail. Also replaced all of the exterior lighting fuses and the flasher relay on the fuse panel. I did some reading on a forum and found that just like the mustang you’re working on, I also have another flasher relay (just for the turn signals). I did the jumper wire trick, and the signals came on. Hopefully that relay is the only issue and I don’t have more of a wiring problem down the line.

    I don’t have a classic car but I have a Pontiac g8 a the front turning signals don’t work but the park lights work an they seem to be the same bulb?? What’s my problem?? Plz help

    • @EddiesCustomsandRestorations
      @EddiesCustomsandRestorations  6 месяцев назад

      Check both bulbs. If the turn and parking lights are the same bulb that means you have 2 filaments in that one bulb. In some cases, only one filament breaks/blows, and the other will still work. If you look closely at the filaments, you should be able to see the separation. Replacing the bulb should fix the problem.

    I have a 2002 Cadillac Eldorado and my turn signals don't want to work in the cold, And they make a weird noise. Once The car gets warmed up they start working again. Usually at some point down the road. And I need to use them three times before I get on the main road to go straight into the town. I don't know everything about this car yet because I only just bought it in July from the car dealership in my area. Once the car is warmed up they work fine.

      @@BonnyOBrien they would not be a glass bulb, they would look like they have a bunch of little LEDs around. They simply will look very different than what is normally on cars. You have to physically look at them through the lenses.

    I have a 1992 foxbody and I was hoping I could get some advice here, I’ve been restoring/fixing it and ran into a problem with the turn signals. Originally the turn signals wouldn’t work however the hazard light were working fine. I did some sketchy work in the hazard switch that seemed to work. Later during the safety I found out the left turn signal doesn’t work when the running lights are on, however the right turn signal works fine with running lights. Advice?

    • @gx21a
      @gx21a 2 месяца назад

      Check the hazard switch itself. Mine was seperating that caused my issue. Turn signals run through that hazard switch as well.

    I have a 1979 trans am and the all turn signals are inoperative. I can’t figure it out, but here is what I’ve put together so far:
    - Hazard flashers, Headlights, taillights, dash gauges, and parking lights appear to function normally (all bulbs are correct)
    - 11.6V to turn signal flasher (pink striped black wire) when key in “on” position, 0V when key off (believe that’s normal).
    - Bench tested flasher and it functions (it’s also new)
    - removed and jumped flasher to remove that variable and voltage is still there until turn signal is up or down where voltage goes to near 0 at that junction (this has me confused…where’s it going?).
    - continuity checks are confusing: From flasher output (purple wire) to front driver bulb (either contact) is open with signal lever off and 0 ohms with lever down. Grounding tab at that bulb is a good ground. Both contacts are grounded with lever down (this is confusing to me, is that normal?).
    - with brakes pressed and brake lights on, lever down turns off left rear brake light and lever up turns off right rear brake light (believe interrupting the brake light is normal, except the light is then supposed to flash).
    - the battery is grounded to the engine block and core support. Engine block is grounded to the sub frame and the firewall.
    - the front light harness is grounded to the core support on both sides. The rear light harness is grounded in the trunk and under near the fuel fill neck.
    I think I’ve ruled out a bad flasher, some grounds, and bad or wrong bulbs. Anything else?
    Does that leave a bad ground somewhere other than what I said above and the turn signal switch?

      Thid actually sounds like loss of voltage or voltage drop. Check out the issue i had with this bronco. The issue was rusted contacts ruclips.net/video/D4f6ydNLgv4/видео.htmlsi=mQUWNVgryaGcSjE8

      Check the turn signal fuse and check to see if the contacts where the fuse mounts to are not all rusty. That can cause low voltage which will hinder your signals not working as well

      Hmm thats an odd one. Check to make sure that there are no spliced wires to the harness that clmes out of the steering column. Look for any out of place wiring that isnt factory. More times than not, people tampered with these classics back in the day to make things work best for their needs and wasn't always correct.

      The filament could be out on the bulbs on the brake lights. You need a dual filament bulb, the one with 2. Check to make sure those are the bulbs back there. Check that first

    • @EddiesCustomsandRestorations
      @EddiesCustomsandRestorations  11 месяцев назад

      The crank no start is probably due to a disconnected ignition wire maybe during replacement and the horn is because your ground wire at your horn is making contact somewhere and you are probably pinching the wire. Its the one wire that hangs out behind the horn button. The moment that wire touches any ground, the horn will go off. There should bee a spring holding the horn button away from the surface. If that spring was left out, the horn will always sound out
